Jane_J got a reaction from MK1986 in For those who has successfully made it..?I would like to get my boobs lifted, will look at the options next year. I have a saggy lower tummy too mostly from carrying twins to 37 weeks. I would like that gone. Ideally I would like a lower face lift and a bit of work round the eyes and I may get some botox for a persistent frown line. Wonder if I can get a wholesale deal???

Jane_J got a reaction from Randi in Long Vent...- very much needed..I don't think I agree with you ThinOneDay, friends do exist, but they are few and far between and like a marriage both parties have to work at the friendship.
I think when we are overweight we are more likely to settle for 2nd best in all departments, including friends. Now we are sorting that out we need to re-evaluate everything else in our lives. I am lucky in that I have had a couple of therapy courses of treatment in my life and that has given me some degree of insight into my own behaviour here.
I over-react badly to perceived bullying of myself and others though even now. I have learnt never to allow myself to be walked over the hard way like many of us here. I hate the types of people who are cruel and nasty for no good reason and I can't understand how this behaviour gives them pleasure.
But there are many, many good, kind, nice people in this world who would be great friends if you gave them a chance. Our family get a tremendous amount of fun and pleasure, plus support which works both ways, from our friendship group. It's finding them in the first place that can be hard, but I would counsel continuing to be open to friendship.

Jane_J got a reaction from Spirit Fire in 2 Years SleevedI was sleeved on the 12th May 2009, I initially weighed 254lbs and am 5ft 6in tall. I am now 133lbs.
You have done really well. It's important that we tell those making this decision now what the outcome will most likely be, extremely positive.

Jane_J got a reaction from ShouldBlittler in Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?Hi, I think they are caused by taking PPIs which suppress the acid. This is a good reason to wean off of them as soon as possible. I thought I had something like this recently but it seems to have resolved itself. I am also a suggestible hypochondriac with access to the internet, a bad combo!

Jane_J reacted to vanishingvixen in Continuing "success" - How Do You Do It?Greetings Sleevers!!
I just wanted to do a quick base-touch. I made it through the holidays unscathed...but I still have some issues reconciling my drastic loss with what I "see" in the mirror. Most often, I can CLEARLY see progress in others...but not in myself - unless a photo is involved. So, to start 2012 off in the right mind-set, I wanted to force myself to see my progress and be as proud of myself that as so many others seem to be of me.
I'm kinda nervous about the rest of this journey...knowing I still have a way to go. I thought I'd be to goal by now - but for 15 months out, I think I've done pretty well (especially given the stress-filled year I had in 2011 - Unemployment, Financial distress, loss of a loved one - back to back to back to back.... *sigh*)
The biggest thing I gathered from looking at some of the older pics is how UNCOMFORTABLE I looked...on top of how far in denial about how big I had gotten over the years. Truly an eye-opener. I have NO desire to go back there - but am still working on the exhuberance and confidence that I had BEFORE I lost the weight. Life is kinda funny like that... *sigh* But I digress...
In any event -- I give you: The Vanishing Vixen Weightloss Transformation Slideshow: http://www.picnik.co...s/t/picnik-show
I'd love to see other pics of you Sleevers here. I know there is SO MUCH success in the ranks!

Blessings to ALL!!

Jane_J reacted to vanb0052 in Trying To Learn Everything I Can...From everything I've read I would definitely prefer the VSG!! But, at this point I haven't had any consultations with a doctor or surgeon since my current medical plan does not cover it. That being said, I do want to leave my options somewhat open to what my surgeon suggests.
I am going to an information session next week. I'm sure this will stir MANY new questions

Jane_J reacted to DebiC in Trying To Learn Everything I Can...The sleeve allows you to consume a wider variety of foods than the band or the bypass. Not more food-just more variety.
I never would consider the bypass myself because of the malabsorbtion problems, the dumping and it just seems so much more drastic than the sleeve.
Because I have so much to lose my surgeon said I may need to have the bypass later on, but I said that at my age (56) I didn't think I would worry if I never got to a size 12 (I too am 6' tall).

Jane_J reacted to waterlover in Trying To Learn Everything I Can...Wasn't the gastric sleeve the first step of a DS traditionally? So if you get the sleeve and find it's not enough for you, then you could do the DS later? Is the DS less invasive, with less complications than an RNY?
-
Jane_J reacted to New in 2012 in Trying To Learn Everything I Can...I know a few people who have had bypass surgery and every one of them has had some major complications requiring further hospitalizations and significant weight regain. I know that many people have great success with the surgery, but there seems to be more risk. Good for you for doing your research!

Jane_J reacted to LVbigmom in Trying To Learn Everything I Can...I started at 370lbs on July 26th, After preop diet and Surgery on Aug.23rd. I now weigh 276lbs.94 pound lost. I am glad I had the vertical sleeve.

Jane_J reacted to Oregondaisy in Trying To Learn Everything I Can...There are many reasons that the Sleeve is better than the bypass in my opinion.
I would not want to have my intestines rerouted and have to be diligent with taking all sorts of Vitamins and supplements for the rest of my life. I know people who have had the RNY and have to have Iron infusions regularly. Also, the gastric bypass pouch is very stretchable and weight regain has very high statistics. The sleeved stomach is made from the non stretchy muscular part of the stomach and stretches a little, but not nearly as much as the pouch left after an RNY.
Also, when you have the RNY, you can never take any type of anti inflamatories such as Ibuprofen. The sleeved stomach is a normal stomach, just smaller.
Weight loss is just about the same with both surgeries.
If you do a search up above in the right hand corner in the search menu, you'll find many explanations about this. Hope this helps some!

Jane_J got a reaction from mankamals in Sigh... stall...Hi Orou, Stalls happen at various stages, they did to me. Sweetie was right in her advice. I thought when I was losing in the earlier phases that the toxins and hormones that were fat soluble I had accumulated over the years were being released as the fat got burned. Remember things like DDT traces get stored in the fat and they must have some effect as they get released. Your body is getting used to the new regime too. At least you don't have the lady hormones, I felt quite ragey at times, but that has calmed down now.
Try to stop stressing and focus on other things.

Jane_J reacted to Tiffykins in I'm MAJOR P.O'd HERE!!!!Bullshit on a petty rant, I'd be livid as hell, and you're a better woman than me if you don't say something to him. He lied to your daughter, he totally backstabbed you, and your daughter deserves to know the truth.
I hope you feel better hun. Stomach bugs suck regardless if we have surgery or not. I wasn't a puker before surgery, and would avoid it at all costs. The nausea is a killer, and it just makes for a miserable existence.
Hang in there, hun. If I have to, I'll come there and get my mad ninja skills all up on his ass ! ! ! He deserves a swift kick to the ass for his snide, asinine and downright mean comments and lies! ! !

Jane_J reacted to LilMissDiva Irene in An NSV worthy of a post.Today I was able to RUN up a flight of stairs. Then, I was able to trot down them rather quick too.
Interesting huh?
Ok, maybe not all THAT interesting - but if you would have seen me try to climb one flight of stairs 2 months ago, you would feel me on this... lol I have completely damaged both of my knees being severely and morbidly obese for 20 years.
That is all.
