I am about two months out and it's still a struggle. I think I can do about 40 oz on a good day. I just keep the bottle with me and make a concerted effort to sip every single time I think about it.
To be honest, 40- 50 oz was the same amount I was drinking pre surgery.

GothGal reacted to momof3_angels in HydrationMy doc and nutritionist dont have issues with the actual straw... there issue is people tend to use straws with drinks we ahoukd never have. They aren't so concerned with the gas unless the gas is an issue for you.

GothGal got a reaction from LadyVS in november sleeveHey everyone! Wednesday will be five weeks since my surgery. Things are going pretty well. Some days I have this huge appetite, other days, I don't feel like eating anything, so I guess it balances out.
I've lost twenty pounds so far, which is great! Since I started this whole process, I've lost fifty pounds in total. (30 lobs pre op, 20 lbs post op). So I'm feeling pretty good.
Moving in to regular foods now, but the most issue I'm having is getting my water in and remembering to chew, chew, chew my food.
Glad to see everyone is doing so well!!

GothGal got a reaction from CubaRican73 in Sleeved on 12-13-19The turkey neck will disappear in a few weeks. Sleeved 11/20 and I had the same issue. I was so worried! Stay hydrated and the skin will eventually tighten up. ?

GothGal reacted to Strivingforbetter in Has anyone kept their surgery a secret? This has been widely discussed on this site, and you'll find that people have strong opinions for either keeping it a secret or telling all. I personally have kept my surgery private. Only my husband and children know. I don't feel obligated to tell anyone my personal medical history. I wouldn't expect someone to tell me they had a vasectomy. It's none of my business. I've changed my eating habits, so I tell them what my diet consists of but leave it at that. Too many people want to criticize another person for his/her life decisions, and I don't have time for that. I'm focusing on being positive and healthy and don't need the drama, especially at work.

GothGal got a reaction from catchthewind in Feeling exhaustedYour surgery is so recent....yes, your body is still healing and that's why you're tired. I'm about three weeks out and still get tired sometimes.
Rest, stay hydrated and keep doing what you're doing. Also, rest...?

GothGal reacted to Bastian in New to this page. Had sleeve done 11/15/19I had a horrendous time in August but my stomach completely twisted itself right after my sleeve so I was in the hospital for 2 weeks then had an emergency bypass. The odd person here has a tough time.
As a nurse, I shall remind you to take your pain relief regularly NOT just when the pain is worse because you need to keep on top of moderate pain not wait until you are in agony ok? Always have 1 dose at bedtime too.
Also, don't forget this IS major surgery even if it was key-hole, give your body time to heal gently, take it easy and remember 6 weeks until your innards are healed.
You will get there and you aren't alone xx

GothGal got a reaction from FluffyChix in I can gulpAs for drinking and feeling restriction, I still have to sip. I was a water guzzler too, and three weeks post op, I still have to watch my sips or else....it will come back up. That happened once, and I never want that to happen again....
-
GothGal got a reaction from FluffyChix in I can gulpI went to two surgeons in my area and both of them refused to operate because my BMI was over 40. This was in NJ. I know the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY does larger patients, but I decided to have the WLS, to see if it relieved pressure on my hips. (I have bone on bone arthritis).
I know it's not the same issue hip-wise as you have ? but I too was refused hip replacement because of my weight.
Either way, I'm glad I had the surgery. No need to put excess weight on the new hip....when I get it. (I'm really hoping I don't need it tho.)

GothGal reacted to New&Improved in 16 WEEKS AND 107LBS DOWN.Good evening everyone.
This is my weekly check in.
I've been on this weight loss journey now 16 weeks today and down 107lbs.
HW 322
CW 215
GW 185-195
Feeling good still mostly on shakes everyday but starting to try little solid things here and there to work out what I can tolerate.
I'm 7 weeks post op today but 16 weeks since starting my diet.
Feeling positive about the future just got some loose skin mostly under my arms & armpits..
Will need to get into some kind of resistance or weights soon but here in Australia Its summer and heatwave of 100 all week ? so not in any mood to workout right now
Thanks everyone again for your support
MIKE.

GothGal reacted to LadyVS in Feeling exhaustedI did the same thing too 5 days postop. Lol I was by myself and leaned on the basket plus sat in the shoe department for 15 minutes before I could go on. My daughter asked me good if I wanted her to go to the store but nooooo, I told her. I need to walk I was so exhausted and in pain I popped my tylenol 4 and went to sleep after I got home. I let my girls bring the groceries in and put them up. You did good but I would continue to take it slow. That was a lesson learned for me.

GothGal reacted to SlimChickadee in Feeling exhausted@Losingit2018, yes we got this with the help of our Bariatricpal family, I will take it easy and let my hubby or family do the shopping without me until I get better!
-
GothGal reacted to Losingit2018 in Feeling exhaustedI am 3 weeks out and feel exactly the same. Even the small stuff wears me out. We have to give ourselves time to recover from major surgery. It will get easier with time.
