LadyVS reacted to djgirl19 in Finally 100 pounds down?? Whoop!!So I just had to put this somewhere because I have to say the first 80-85 came off quick. These last 15 not so much.
I have been in a stall since Thanksgiving going down and up a few at a time while allowing myself to live a little and have some holiday treats.
Got most everything out of the house, got my butt to the gym, started tracking carefully again and today finally weighed in at 100 down. Will be 8 months post 2/4 and I would say most of the work is on me at this point. I can absolutely overeat right now if I eat the wrong things. Just making that statement for anyone who is out there wondering what restriction may look like at this point. It’s there but I certainly have to choose right. No more “free ride” LOL -
LadyVS reacted to JAKE H in NSV for me!!This was cool for me. This surgery for me, wasnt just about losing the weight, but also about getting the body i always wanted. Im far from being there but im really starting to see results. I finally have shoulders and arms! I started crossfit 10 days after surgery. Mixed with running this is what ive stuck to and the results are really starting to show. Im 222 now but im also building muscle and still cutting the weight. I always do monthly progress pics and i decided to flex a little. I was shocked myself. I even had the two top abs. I couldnt believe it. I always wanted definition and its really starting to show, Im glad i could do this, while still cutting the weight. Cant wait to see what i look like at 199.

LadyVS reacted to KarenLR75 in Judgment Free ZoneAmen. I actually blocked someone not because they were directly upsetting me, but because they went over the top and were rude, condescending, and plain mean to more than just 1 person on a thread that was a 'support group' for a specific situation.
They have chased off some of the original posters and caused others to fear posting and no, I'm not talking about 'I'm afraid if I post my meals, they will point out that my carbs seem a bit high' or they will 'bust me cuz I had cookies at Xmas and some wine and they are going to say that is why I haven't lost for X weeks'.
Everyone has a right to their opinion but when that opinion starts to become unproductive, and you move from an intent to help even with tough love to being rude and mean because by God you want your opinion HEARD then for me...that is giving opinions with malicious intent (maybe the poster doesn't even recognize it, but just like the majority of us having a history of bad coping techniques, maybe we should consider it is not just the ppl asking for help who may need some tough love..maybe the posters who want to ignore requests to please leave off with the destructive comments...should consider that this may be part of their bad coping habits showing up still(.
I think EVERYONE benefits from self examination. I ask myself in my work life, my personal life and here..is what I'm saying true...and is the reason I'm saying it to be helpful/i.e. what is the true intent of my heart...when I go from both of those being 'YES' to the 2nd one being 'NO', for me. I bite my tongue. Also, I have never been asked to please stop commenting on a thread but if that ever happened, I would leave them in peace and not keep decrying my right to post...
Thus...I have blocked 2 ppl in the 3 years I've been on this forum. Even though I had surgery just this past July, I've been around for a while...just offering my own personal perspective and how much I agree with the decision to block/flag for ignore - don't let anyone chase you away from your journey. Don't give up on a thread or leave if staying is TRULY beneficial to you and be prepared for some tough love but not for insults and rudeness.
Reminds me of a saying from marriage counselors (i have many friends that are in this occupation) that I've heard over the years: Do you want to be right or do you want to be married? Yeah, a bit off the precise topic...but sometimes at work we also talk about 'do you want to win the battle' or win the war?

LadyVS reacted to momof3_angels in Judgment Free ZoneLOL... well that would NOT be constructive! No guns blazing from me
I personally have not taken offense from any replies I have received, they have been great. I love the support I am getting. I love the support that most other posters are giving to others as well. But I have read some replies to other posts that were not "tough love" but instead over the top, uncalled for, and totally non-productive. Some are downright insulting. Certainly not tough love.
The way I see it, those who get offended most easily are probably the most insecure among us. They need our support the most. And if that means we need to be a little gentler with them, then I am all for it.

LadyVS reacted to JRT Mom in Judgment Free ZoneGuys, I gotta get this off my chest.
BariatricPal is a wonderful site that has helped countless people on their weight loss journey. Many topics have been discussed here with some of them being a bit off-color or controversial, but it's OK because we are hear to learn and get help and give help.
But many posters ask honest questions, and some of the responses come off as being judgemental of the poster. If people are afraid their questions are going to bring down a rain of judgements on their head, they are likely NOT to post, and isn't asking questions what this forum is for?
So I hope we can give a bit of consideration when we respond to a question. Opinions are definitely OK, but if the post comes off as judgemental people may be hesitant to ask them, and it defeats the purpose of this forum.
Thanks, whew-I feel better now. I love you all!

LadyVS reacted to GradyCat in Losing More By Eating MoreI am one year post-op sleeve.
I struggled with losing weight for the last six months, was constantly stalled.
But I didn't gain weight (except for 3 1/2 pounds during holidays, which I've already lost).
So starting January 1st I started eating MORE calories, like a LOT, like 1300/day and guess what? I'm LOSING weight again.
My guess is my body had adjusted to the lower number of calories and was holding on to everything it was getting.
Or maybe my body just needed a rest.
But I feel like I had the longest stall in weight loss surgery history.
Happy now to see the scale going down daily!

LadyVS reacted to november11 in november sleeveit's all good … it is to be expected sometimes we lose inches and some times its pounds...bet your clothes don't fit the same.. just keep doing right with the water and protein which by now should be from mostly dense food and not the shakes.
I been on the same weight number for weeks now but Im down to a size 16 from a 20

LadyVS reacted to mthaxter in The Greatest GiftI have been overweight all of my life. I had suffered with not only the weight but I also have extreme bowing of the legs. It's been a difficult road for me and it still is, however, the road isn't that bad of a climb any longer. I had my surgery on April 3rd, 2019 at a starting weight of somewhere around 350. I now weigh somewhere around 220. I guess since I have been overweight my entire life I'm not a number counter. People ask me all the time about where I am now or what number I came from and I have to be honest I couldn't tell them if I wanted to. I use to weigh at my highest 465+. I made it all the way down to 364 where it wouldn't go anywhere until I was put on the strick diet prior to having surgery. I tried everything you can possibly think of which was how I got the 100 off but my weight plateaued and wouldn't move for years. My knees just couldn't take it any longer and like an old bridge, I had to give in.
I had contemplated surgery approximately 20 times going to the seminars etc. but never felt comfortable with the surgeons. I prayed about it and God sent MY surgeon and he can be right for you too. I had a blood clot of the lungs from the surgery directly following the surgery and the week after that I developed a rash that covered my entire body from the medicated for the blood clot. For two weeks I suffered and almost died. I've been asked would I go back and not have the surgery or what would I change if anything. My answer was and will remain the same, I would have the surgery and I would not change one thing! Everything has happened the way God intended. I have grown and I am still growing. Those events made me stronger. I could have died being 364 and continuing on at that weight. So for me, this journey has been a continued success.

LadyVS got a reaction from m.simpson88 in My journey: The Pain of Starting OverHello everyone. I finally had surgery this past Monday, 11/18. It took my surgeon a while to get the Lapband out of me because of all the scar tissue that had accumulated. I was supposed to come home yesterday, but I couldn't. I was in so much freaking pain and had so much nausea that I stayed until today. So I sat in my favorite recliner after getting home for about 20 minutes and well, I've been in bed ever since. I knew it was going to be painful, but dang this really hurts. I'm not hungry at all which is the point/purpose. I've lost two pounds so far, and I know that as the swelling, gas, and pain fades, I will continue to get smaller. Yeahhhhh, now I'm excited and happy!

LadyVS got a reaction from Lady VS in My journey: The Pain of Starting OverI started weight watchers and a membership with 24 hour fitness for the new year. It has taken a week but I am finally seeing results. I am so happy the scale is finally moving because I am not eating a lot at all and since my surgery, my tastes for certain foods have changed. My first goal weight is 190 and I can't believe I'm almost there. I just wish this arthritis wasn't so bad because I would love to do more. For now I ride a bicycle, and then I sit in the steam room. Then I finish by relaxing in the whirl pool. So far so good.?

LadyVS got a reaction from KarenLR75 in THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREADThat's a good point. That is also something we "slow losers" should consider, the type of surgery each of us have had.
After taking my time and literally reading every post on here, I'm going to say this for myself: When I first had wls in 2010, it was with the lapband. I am what you would call a "vet" as I have another login that followed my journey at that time. It took me 2 1/2 years to lose 99 pounds and it was established then by my doctor that I would be a "slow loser". I didn't like it, but I accepted it.
Second time around, it was again established by my new doctor, "You are going to lose even more slowly than you did with the band." I didn't believe him, but here I am at almost two months postop and have only lost 14 pounds. I initially lost 10 pounds during the preop diet but after surgery, I gained it back. Not trying to but by simply following my doctor's orders. He said that he doesn't even consider the first month and to keep following my plan. Well, I was only two pounds down at my month weigh in by just following his plan and it was VERY DISCOURAGING. So I took it upon myself to do something different and it's working. I am a slow loser, IT'S NOT A MYTH contrary to other's opinions. I am happy that I am losing and NOT GAINING. It just gets very discouraging that you are losing weight slowly rather than quickly. It's totally a mind thing. I lost a LOT OF INCHES in the first month and I posted that in my topic in the revision section. When I first saw this topic this morning, it made me very happy to see someone else felt defeated at times like myself. I had no idea that I would be reading about all this other stuff, but hey it's all good. I have learned new information that's for sure. I lose weight at a significantly slower rate than the average person and I realize now, I AM OKAY WITH THAT!!! Good day all.

LadyVS got a reaction from KarenLR75 in THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREADOur surgery days are literally a day apart. I weighed in at 200.8 before surgery and have only lost 14 pounds, and you have lost 27. That is exactly what the OP was talking about. I know we aren't suppose to compare, but we are all suppose to being doing essentially the same things. Yes, out body build and genes are different, but still IT'S FREAKING DISCOURAGING when I am working so hard at this. It makes you feel like you don't know wtf you're doing even though you do because heck, you have done this ish before especially if you are a revision person like myself. Anyway, congrats on the 27 pound lost and many more to come in the near future.?

LadyVS reacted to ColoradoCanuck in november sleeveHi everyone. Had my surgery on November 18th and down about 40lbs, plus 21 leading up to the surgery. I keep thinking someone's pranking my scale... But I'm down into slim/straight jeans, down 3 more notches on my belt, heck even dropped a shoe size! Also stalled in week 3 but needed to make an emergency trip to another country cause we almost lost my dad. Traveling and adjusting to new food lifestyle is hard!!
37 days since surgery and creeping up on week 6 foods. Tonight I had a few small bites of ham, cranberry sauce, and some white beans for dinner, plus a 2 egg omelet with Dubliner cheese and green onions for breakfast. Finding it hard to track macros and I always feel constantly behind on water. (I think I'm just bored with plain water). Still drinking one or two protein shakes per day and loving the recipes folks post to help with variety. Gonna try a chocolate protein shake with some chilled decaf in the morning.
Have to watch that I don't eat too quickly on yummy stuff. Gorged on 5 pieces of sashimi on Sunday and left half of it behind in the restaurant toilet. Sweet stuff turns my stomach. My sense of smell is in overdrive.
I'm loving the journey.
Happy holidays, hope you're all doing great!

LadyVS reacted to GothGal in november sleeveHey everyone! Wednesday will be five weeks since my surgery. Things are going pretty well. Some days I have this huge appetite, other days, I don't feel like eating anything, so I guess it balances out.
I've lost twenty pounds so far, which is great! Since I started this whole process, I've lost fifty pounds in total. (30 lobs pre op, 20 lbs post op). So I'm feeling pretty good.
Moving in to regular foods now, but the most issue I'm having is getting my water in and remembering to chew, chew, chew my food.
Glad to see everyone is doing so well!!
