I just got my 3rd fill last Monday and I feel it now! The first two fills felt a little tight but I was able to eat more than I thought I should be able to. This last fill might be my sweet spot.
Hang in there, you're doing fine. It takes a little bit of experimenting to figure it out.

So, I am in the Pre surgery phase. I am seeing nutritionist and doing all of the other pre op requirements, including the 6 month diet (low carb of course).

Before I decide to move forward with the process, I asked my husband for his support and his feelings on the surgery. He was all for it and said he would definitely support me if that is what I really want. “ all I want is for you to be happy and healthy baby”, is what he said. (He also is around 300lbs and knows he needs to lose some weight too. )Well, here it is a two months into the diet, I am down 11 lbs but his support is only verbal. Let me explain, he says I support you and sometimes he acts like he supports me but other times he is driving through the McDonald’s parking lot ordering a combo with French fries and a coke ( one of my weaknesses is fast food, especially French fries). I say I want a quarter pounder with cheese no bun. He orders the quarter pounder and says “ you can take off the bun yourself”. When I bring it to his attention later, he says “this diet and surgery is your choice not mine, and for now on you worry about what your gonna eat and I will worry about myself.”

I have tried to tell him more about my new eating habits and how it will change even more after the surgery. But it’s like he doesn’t listen and he still swears he is supporting me.

Any experiences or advice would help. What should I expect from him? Am I asking too much?

It’s weird. I never saw myself as “fat” unless I was sitting on a plane or at a concert or some other limited space scenario. I never felt unhealthy unless I was at the doctors office and they were telling me how “sick” I was. After a few months everything seems like it’s back to normal, I just eat differently and wear smaller sized clothes. My family loves me the same and my 2 small dogs still don’t listen to me. Deep down, I know lots has changed though. The surgery was worth it just for the improved health and it feels like I’ve turned back the clock 15 yeas in terms of energy. People see me differently at work. The renewed confidence also propelled me to finish my masters degree. So even if I try and downplay the results, they can be felt in almost every aspect of my life.

Hello everyone! Well very excited to tell you the surgery went very well. Tomorrow I will be two weeks post op and have been mostly on a liquid diet, but the small things I have eaten such as pudding and oatmeal have stayed down with no problem. I am having no abdominal pain other then the minor irritation from the incisions no worries there.
I am actually already feeling the results of having the large intestine back in tact and feeling the nourishment from the food I am ingesting. I am so happy at this point in time. I have now lost exactly 200lbs so I am over 40lbs past where I should have stopped. I obviously do not want to gain all my weight back but do look forward to at least being able to keep things down, in and get the benefit of my food intake whether or not I gain some back or not. I lost from a size 32/34 to currently a size 10. At over 5'9 and large framed that was a lot for the body to take in a year and a half.
I will let everyone know how it continues to go, but I do want to say thank you so much for all the kind words of support, and for those that have no other solution for severe bypass issues I am up till this point, proof that there maybe a solution albeit it may have to be a reversal.

I reached out to my surgeon. I will only be on liquid diet pre-op for 24 hrs. My surgery in 9/24 I have been looking forward to getting this surgery for a long time, now that it's soo close I am so emotional, I go from being excited, to getting nervous, scared. I cried myself to sleep the other night. Has anyone become so emotional close to their surgery day?

I'm past the pureed and onto fish/seafood ground meat, I do eat a little too fast sometimes, but i try to take it slow. I only use baby spoons as well so i don't take big bites. As for my pills some aren't crushable as they are liquid, i have the chewables the doctor gave me the bariatric fusions, i don't have a problem swallowing i just feel like gagging/throwing up every time i take them, like my stomach can't handle it.
as for protein there are days i gag on drinking it even if 2 ounces i have the pure protein it's little boxes that you can get a walmart and comes in vanilla, strawberries and cream, caramel, chocolate and banana, i don't like the caramel but love the banana. I do try to drink that when i can.
Just normally feels like my stomach is in knots all the time, feels like it's gassy as i eat things and i just feel bloated, i often feel like i have to lay down to even attempt to feel better. One time i tried to drink some antacid and i threw it right back up.

I was sleeved on 9/10/18. I also have buyers remorse. Have had it since 9/11/18. But I absolutely would change it if I could!! If this situation had an undo button, I would have been hitting that thing with every ounce of energy I barely have. I have been miserable since surgery. I’m mad at myself for doing this to myself. I’m tired of the smells of ANYTHING making me nauseous. I’m mad that I’m going to have to miss 2 weeks of work for this mess, when I would much rather be out every day getting paid. I’m just so completely miserable and mad at myself and I don’t feel any better today than I did on Monday evening.

I was concerned that I was pushing it but have had “knock on wood” no issues except when the fullness sets in and I stop. Eating slowly can be hard when I’m so used to eating in a hurry because of work.
i do enjoy a bi weekly reward at night with some protein rich ice cream. Can’t remember the name but it comes in a 1/2 pint container and has 12 g of protein. Very fulfilling.

I wouldn’t push for this. Having all your meds by IV is so important. This is major surgery remember that. You could have complications and need to be monitored. Just my thoughts ?

I had my surgery on 9/5. I prepared for this for one year. Nothing could Have prepared me for the recovery period. I planned on staying one night in hospital, and ended up staying three nights. My surgery was on Wednesday morning and I went home Saturday night. As I am writing this, I feel pretty good, and each day I feel that I am getting better and stronger. Day two I was vomiting blood, and for the remainder of the days I was not able to keep one thing down.

I highly recommend you staying in the hospital at least 1 to 2 nights. I know that everyone experiences things differently, and we are all different and how we recover, but for me it was a tad bit rough. I was not vomiting up fresh blood, it was all blood that was just residual from the actual surgery in my stomach, I had the VSG done by a very renowned surgeon. He is one of the best, and I completely trusted him with this entire process, and like I said, I feel better each and every day and I am so grateful to God, but please do not try and go home on the first night, stay in the hospital and let those nurses help you.

Does anyone know what all the surgery to expand my opening to my stomach entails. I'm 6 weeks out and miserable. I can't drink anything. Everything taste horrible. I'm nauseous 24/7. I can only eat liquids. My dr says she may have to expand my stomach opening. Is that a day surgery? Does anyone know the recovery time?

Have been still upchucking. today. Somebody earlier said they had buyers remorse, don't, have that, just fearful something went wrong, with the construction. That is silly, my surgeon is uber-smart, very talented, maybe I. produced faulty tissue for him to work with. Just feeling too rotten to feel right at the moment.

Not quite as brave,as John Kitsu, but we are close. Maybe at the same concert? Thursday evening finished a good. dietary day,,Friday, night the pendulum swung the other waym THIS MORNING, I am sucking on a sugar free pineapple popsicle, trying to decide what Ms Precious. Pouch. will allow us to eat this AM. A liile cream,of wheat cooked in a little skim milk? Will you ate least, consider it, Your Highness? Thursday evening, things were perfect, Friday night not so,found out who was driving and it WASN T ME.
O Oh it was not pretty! 2 shout outs are due. First to Ohio State University Hospitals for sending me home with a stack of Blue Barf Bags and secondly to Wal- Mart for, producing size 2X adult pull--'ups. I could not have made it to the weeds outside in time.
See I thought on Thusday,i had it all figured out, hey this was not, found to as bad as I thought.
Friday hit ka-thump, and I am not quite over it yet emotionally. I can't even get,on my knees to vomit because I have 2 artificial knees. Ugly situation , Tomkitten would not have to worry about a stepfather no man who didn't love me already would hang around for THAT EXPOSITION. Fat RedHeaded woman , red-faced, moaning, tears running down her face, splinting her tummy with the 6 partially healed surgical wounds, moaning and upchucking. Was I sorry I had the surgery? No not really, it was a good thing Bradley J Needlman MD was 2 counties and 50 miles away. In between retchings, I had murder and malice in my ❤. How could an object barely the size of my fist cause this much misery?
But today is a new day, 2 steps forward, one step back, Precious left me with a little tenderness on my chest but,I'll forgive her if she returns the favor.?
