Jess01 reacted to Rachel2018 in Sleeve LeaksI was just curious what are the symptoms of sleeve leaks? My doctor doens’t do the swallow test anymore....found it to be unnecessary. He’s good at what he does, but I want to know what to possibly look for in case I do develop one. I want to catch it early instead of having something that keeps me in the hospital for weeks at a time. Thank you in advance.

Jess01 reacted to elmatador in Progress updateHere to brag a bit and update on progress:
Down 50 pounds!
VSG 6/1
Pre-op 286
Current 236
Amazing to see the ongoing transformation!...
May need to reassess my "target" weight. I picked 210 because that would put me below BMI of 30 (arbitrary, I know!) ans because, well, I couldn't imagine weighing that little, let alone even less! -

Jess01 reacted to Swanton_Bomb in Disturbing RealizationI've known for many years that I have a problem with food (obviously, I mean you don't become obese without having issues) but I recently came to the realization that I prefer food to pretty much everything. I would choose food over spending time with friends, a concert, shopping, a great movie, a good night's sleep, a vacation, nice clothes, anything. It satisfies me more than anything else. I knew I had a problem but this made me realize that my problem was just as serious of a compulsion as a drug or alcohol addiction. I hope I can defeat this and become healthy, not just physically, but mentally.

Jess01 reacted to sariejack in I feel scared and ashamed...Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum. I am scheduled to have VGS on August 6th. I weigh about twice what I should and have high blood pressure. Insurance approved it and I am good to go--but I can't get over the fear of not waking up from the surgery, and the shame that I let my weight get to the point that I need medical intervention.
Has anyone else struggled with these emotions? If so, what can I do to overcome them?

Jess01 reacted to SRP1985 in Getting nervousMy surgery is scheduled for Wednesday August 1st.
Today was the start of my clear liquid diet, half way through the day and I feel amazing.
Im getting very nervous about the surgery on Wednesday though, more scared than anything I guess.
Anyone else feel this way right before? -
Jess01 reacted to NurseSmiley80 in Feeling Good 3 days post-opWell I had my surgery 7/27 7:30am and it lasted 2 hrs. I actually didn’t have to have my hernia repaired wasn’t that bad to be touched. I tolerated liquids once I woke up from surgery, no vomiting. Th next day while in Hospital I had purée stage and I measured my food by medicine cups (1oz), I sipped my liquids. I was able to go home Saturday 7/28 @9pm. I came home was able to lay on my sides or back not my stomach. Day 2 post-op I was able to tolerate scrambled egg 2oz, sipped water after 30mins.. I took my blood thinner injection and my gallbladder medicine so it won’t get gallstones...I took my anti acid, I took my vitamins spaced them out a few hours apart. I’m ao proud of myself I’m trying to pace myself Ms not so too much at too lil time. I hope anyone else who had hgastric Bypass is doing well also... I pray that as long as I continue to follow the Dr orders I be ok. And yes just Becuz your ouch will allow u I eat more doesn’t mean that you should... this is a tool have self control.

Jess01 reacted to The Preacher in Sipping?I was told that I would have to sip my water after sleeve surgery, at least 64 ounces a day.
Is sipping water just a temporary thing, or something you have to do from now on?
I drink decaf coffee, how long does it take to drink a cup of coffee after you have a sleeve?
I drink a lot of water, this sipping thing has got me wondering.
Thanks very much.

Jess01 reacted to E-girl in Officially approvedWell I guess it’s official. Just checked my chart messages and I have been approved. I am super surprised how quick it was. I was sleeved 6 years ago and have complications. It took only 14 days.
I had it in my mind that picking a date for surgery before getting approved didn’t make it real. Super real now!
I just not sure how I feel about it. When I had the sleeve I was super motivated, studied the material they gave me, dreamed about shopping for new outfits, etc. but because I have barrett's syndrome with abnormal cells in my esophagus, I am just freaked out.
I having really talked to my husband because he’s freaked out to. Don’t want to stress him out as well. Feeling kind of alone for this go around. -
Jess01 got a reaction from George OG in 2 years post op down 212 poundsLooking great! -
Jess01 reacted to MiltonP in Was it worth it?Had my sleeve on March 5 I’ve lost 109 pounds so far I’m 6 pounds from my goal but as letsgetgoing2018 said this is just a tool you need to follow your Dr diet and work your ass off in the gym also you need to understand they operate on your stomach not you brain so at first you’ll still feel the hunger which is not really there just power through it and in no time you’ll be a whole new person
-
Jess01 reacted to Letsgetgoing2018 in Was it worth it?I had my sleeve on July 10th. I am healing relatively easily and am losing. I was scared pre op after reading these boards because some people have a really rough time. I have accepted that this surgery is just a tool that I’ll use to hopefully get to my goal weight and I’ll have to change my life in many ways to get there but I would say “yes”, it’s been worth it for me.

Jess01 reacted to dreamingofasleeve in Was it worth it?I am pre op and I feel like we often only see the good side of weight loss surgery.
I want to know... Was it worth it?
I want to be thin but I am scared if failure and side effects. Let me know! Whether your 6 months out or 5 years I want to hear!
