After further realistic discussion with my husband, we have decieded lap band is not the way to go right now. Finanically, we will be taking everything we have to be a self pay. What if something went wrong? Then my family suffers...I can not do that to them. Back to the good old "diet" at least for now. Damn insurance companies!!!

  3. I am not banded yet and going thru the process. This year, I will give up soda. I figure it is not a good thing to have when I am banded, so no need for it now. I currently drink about 6cans a day, sometimes more or less. It sure won't hurt giving it up now. I can only imagine how hard it will be. I think it is the carbonation that has me addicited, not the caffeine. I will still have my coffee in the morning. Have a wonderful holiday!

The $18,888 I will be paying covers everything preop, postop and all my appts. up to 1 year after surgery. I wish you luck with the insurance. Mine was turned in on December 10th, so maybe you will hear something very soon! Happy Holidays!! I will be sure to keep everyone updated. I sure love this site. It is so motivational and has great information.

:mad:I got the OFFICAL letter of denial from the insurance company today. I can not believe some insurance companies will cover the surgery and some won't. I think most of them won't cover the surgery and it SUCKS. As I have known from the get go...I will have to pay $18,888 to have the surgery. I want this so bad I will do it. :cry On the brighter side, it is Christmas and I am so looking forward to it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS

My next will be on January 25th, and the last one will be February 8th. Pending no hold ups, I am hoping for surgery in March or April. I have been reading alot of postings and looking at before and after pictures and that is such motivation for me. I can't wait...:clap2:

Well...I have waited one week. Still no word, not suprising though. I have been reading everyone's post and getting so motivated by them. I can not wait for this to happen. I am tired of the fat me...I know someone skinny is inside. :bounce:This waiting is the worst. I already know my insurance will not cover and am going to be self pay. Why can't we just get on with the process.

  13. I know how you feel. I told a couple of my good friends this weekend and all I heard was how dangerous it was. I understand the concern, but told them it was actually no worse than getting my galbladder out. The subject was dropped real quick, I could tell they(at least one) did not approve. Perhaps her and I will sit down and really talk about it soon! My husband is behind me 100%, at this point, that is what matters the most.
  14. :whoo:Tonight I made the first step in the right direction, I attended the seminar in Madison. I am so ready to get moving forward. I know insurance will not cover anything and that stinks. The only postive to that situation is not having anything held up with insurance issues. Hopefully that will speed things up a little faster. Be back soon with an update!

I will be attending the seminar on Monday the 26th. I already know I will be a self pay. My wonderful insurance will not cover anything...no matter what.
