I haven't had surgery yet so I'm no expert by far. However, my surgeon wouldn't even have me eating food at 4 weeks. I'm confused. I know I've posted this before at how we all seem to be getting different information on the same procedure. But, maybe try his plan: week 1 CLEAR liquid only. week 2 FULL liquid. week 3 puree. week 4 soft foods. week 5 (if you can tolerate it) regular diet in 2oz portions 5-6 per day. Also, 80grams protein daily with 64oz water. Good luck to you.

    UPDATE:
I've gone back and forth with my insurance company. Talked to everyone from supervisors, to loss prevention and fraud report people. They will allow me to get my dentures from my new dentist! They are also starting an investigation into the other dentist for charging for work they didn't do. hopefully this will all be over soon.

If they take payment for something that was not done, that's insurance fraud on their end. Your insurance company can just retract payment, even after the fact. I would be sure to take it up with the insurance. And then, perhaps an attorney. By the time you're done you can get uppers & lowers FREE.
Good luck to you on this and your sleeve. Prayers ~ well wishes ~ postive vibes.

Tomorrow is my day! I just received my phone call to find out that surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I am so excited - not a bit nervous (yet).
Looking forward to sharing my experiences (all positive I'm sure)!
    Wish me luck :-)

I love being able to wrap the bath towel around me and it fits too, not the jumbo one either! I also love that I don't HAVE to use the handicapped bathroom stall in public restrooms any more. I fit in the standard bathroom stall without any problems. I love finding my hip bones after all these years. I love wearing cute clothes and shopping for them some where besides the plus size section of the store. I love not needing the tilt steering wheel option on my car any more. Oh Lord, I could go on and on!

What is your favorite thing about your weight loss so far? Aside from the health benefits of course. My favorite thing is something I hadn't thought of until it happened: I can wrap a towel completely around myself! I can knot it up and it stays put and everything. It's actually pretty great!

These aren't considered slider foods...? Slider foods as those that go down easy yet they lack nutrition. It varies for everyone but like someone else stated slider foods are: ice cream, milk shakes, potato chips, Cookies, cake, juices loaded with sugar, etc.

I think that size isn't such a great way to judge success. When I was younger I weighed between 108-125 and wore a 3/4 forever..128 and a size 7...135-145 a 9. Now I'm at around 220 and I can go between a 14 & an 18 depending on my celiac bloating. I'm 5'5" but if you look at my sizes they don't much match up with some of the above posts.
Go by how you FEEL in your clothes...in your own skin...If you want to pursue an 8, go for it! If it's meant to be, you may find that you end up in an even lower size. However, if you end up in a 10 and you look and feel great...embrace your 10.
You sound like you've already succeeded and your picture proves you look amazing. CONGRATULATIONS!

I used to love math until they came out with this calories in = calories out formula. I've been telling my Doc for YEARS that it can't be true because I only eat good for you stuff (NOT in mass quantities) so why the heck do I gain every year instead of losing? Well... my "super power" must be super strong. That's why I'm sleeving... BTW, Danyelle, I'd trade this for invisibility any day.

You know, it's funny that as I'm reading this thread, I'm watching a commercial for Outback Steakhouse. They're shoving huge plates of shiny food at the camera and I'm thinking two things:
    1. Is food supposed to shine like that? I've never seen food that looks shiny, except for Chinese food and that's because they dump tons of MSG on it. That can't be good.
and 2. I absolutely cannot believe now that I was ever able to eat that much food! Not only would I eat everything on that plate, but I probably would have finished whatever anyone else at my table couldn't eat as well.
I was a "volume eater" and I truly mourned the fact that I couldn't eat as much as I used to. But as time went on, I began to realize that I was vaguely disgusted by the amount of food others can eat. I'll sit across someone eating and look at their food and be stunned that they could possibly finish what they're eating.
Case in point: Our beloved receptionist at work had a birthday and we all threw her a party. Of course there was a huge cake--Valrhona chocolate, which is one of my favorites (yes, I know my chocolate!). I didn't have any, but I thought to myself, "Wow, I'd love to have a bite of that."
A bite? What?! Now, I was surprised by this because somehow my mind can only imagine taking just "a bite" of something. Before surgery, my default would have been, "Wow, I'd love to have a couple large slices of that."
Flabbergasting to me is that a pre-surgery convicted "volume eater" like myself could ever default to being happy with just a bite of something. But yes, now just a bite of something can make me fully satisfied. This is what VSG can do for you! A few bites of my meal and I have that wonderful feeling of fullness that I call "the food high" which I used to only obtain by eating everyone else under the table.
My point is that your mind will adjust. You will eventually look at 8 pieces of low-carb penne Pasta with a little marinara sauce and think, "Now I get to pig out!"

can you deal with this one? It's the only one that is really true
I'm 3 months out, and I can confidently say that nothing is permanently off the table except overindulging.
I can also say post-op you will view food totally different than you do now.
Now food is a treat, it's a comfort, it's fun. Post-op food is nourishment, it's even kind of a chore
I equate it to fueling the car. I don't like doing it, but if I want to drive, I got to.
There will be some cravings the first week or 2, but those are fairly easy to deal with, and they fade pretty quick.
    Don't sweat it. It's a good ride.

I've also found that just because u create a 3500 cal deficit it doesn't always equal a pound loss on the scale. It's super frustrating because our sleeved bodies seem to defy all logic and reason. Remember this if u ever hit a stall just keep working out and eating right. The weight will move eventually. Cheers to exercise!!

it's actually a PFT = Pulmonary function test. They aren't bad. You breathe into a tube while the technician tells you what to do. Usually they cheer for you ... blow blow blow ...deep breath in...yelling the whole time. LOL
I do them for asthma once a year. It measures how much air you take in versus how much air you expel when you breathe out.
    non-invasive and pain free.
