So does anyone have any tips for taking meds(maintenance meds) the capsules seem to be the hardest, I think because they seem to fill so heavy going down & for awhile after. I've tried crushing & emptying the capsules into Jello, pudding, hot & cold liquids, mashed potatoes & my list is growing.
So does anyone have any ideas.
Help cause stopping the meds are not a option.

I was scheduled for 9:30am on a Thursday. They didn't actually get to me though till around 3:00 that afternoon. Very boring just sitting in a tiny area hooked up to an IV! For some reason they got backed up really bad. I had the option to stay overnight or go home. My doc said most of his patients would choose to go home. I was wanting to stay overnight just to be on the safe side, but needed to go home due to my kids and such. I ended up leaving at around 7:00 that same night even after getting really nauseous when i stood up and the nurse having to put an alcohol swab under my nose to keep me from throwing up. I was thinking they should have kept me longer, but I just thought they knew best. Later that night at home I did throw up after getting sick again when I stood up. Maybe that could have been prevented if I would have stayed at the hospital. I would advise anyone with the option to definitely stay over night!

Please understand I am not being mean spirited. I have to agree with your boss that you are eating 1) to much , 2) advancing to quickly. I believe you mentioned tortilla's, that is a solid not a mushie.
Are you weighing your food? If not you need to start. My doctor says 3 oz of Protein. Even during mushies I weighed out 3 oz. Yes you probably can eat more than that but that does'nt mean you should. That's why this is called bandster hell. You can eat a lot more than you should.
This is a will power diet for now. I wish more doctors were up front about this. Don't expect that they will move up your fill.

Believe it or not it won't bother you as much as you think it will. I eat out with friend a lot and usually order soup or an appetizer. No one says a word. They are too busy noticing how amazing I look in my size 10s!

Havent been on here in a while, I did post a couple threads months ago, I had Surgery Oct 25th 2011. I hit my goal June 7th of 2012. Total lost 176 Lbs in 8 months. It is possible, But the band was truly only a small portion of why I was able to do what I did. It was 99% Mental, 1% physical. Keep your heads up out there its a road well worth traveling.
    God bless.

As always, TMF offers wise advice.
I understand what you're saying. You don't want to give up that social aspect of eating and you don't want to have to answer questions. But here's the thing, in situations like you're describing food actually has little to do with it. It's about the company you're with and the companionship that happens over the meal, not the meal itself.
You will have to make some adjustments to your lifestyle, but that doesn't mean you have to give up your social life or even all the foods you love. I eat out a couple times a month but I am simply mindful to order smart food and stick to band sized portions. Very often I'll actually look up a menu online ahead of time so I know what I'm going to do before even getting to the restaurant.
When eating at people's homes it's not as easy but still doable. A good example would be the week I spent at my dad's house in July. There were numerous fatty, yummy meals served, including lasagna. I didn't want to pass on the meal entirely and seem rude so my answer was to have a very small serving of lasagna and a big serving of salad. I still got to enjoy the meal, I didn't offend anyone by not eating, but I managed to eat smart and fill up on the veggies instead of the lasagna.
It's definitely a learning experience. Hang in there, you can do this

Model if you have insurance I'd suggest you get a new band in Australia. I'm in Perth, the whole thing was covered (it's considered an essential non plastic surgery) and I was out of pocket $2500 but I get $250 back.
The best thing is that my dr said that if ANYTHING happens then the whole thing is replaced for free.
If you don't have insurance it might be worth signing up, waiting out the year then getting it done?
I'm with HBF on young single savers + hospital essential.

I agree...this doc is off his rocker, and actually encouraging an unhealthy mentality towards losing this weight...the weight you've lost so far is more than enough...everyone is different, don't be hard on yourself, your doing wonderfully...don't let that $&&&$ get you down, girl

Also remember to take it easy. If your only 3 months or less my dr said take it easy & listen to your body, if it hurts back off the activities for a while.

I read a lot of posts complaining about 20lbs lost in 4 or 6 weeks. Pre-band 20lbs in a year seemed unreachable. Don't lose sight of your past completely or you will forget how far you've come. I made that mistake when I lost. 53lbs on WW. I gained it all back because I forgot to celebrate the wins.

CONGRTS! Welcome to your journey. Remember this is not another diet its a lifestyle, you will have ups and downs but the outcome is so worth it. I've been banded since 2009 and no longer have diabetes 2, high cholesteral, sleep apnea or high blood pressure. Take measurements as sometimes you loose size and not pounds. It's not a compitition its YOUR LIFE! Wishing a speedy recovery and a great life!
