Amanda1982 got a reaction from newbeginning79 in My Black Is Beautiful Poem By:keemiekeenMy Black is Beautiful
by keemiekeem
My Black is beautiful, strong, courageous.
Powerful beyond the simple imagination.
Others look on, their mouths open in fascination,
Cause my Black is beautiful, strong, courageous.
So beautiful is my Black that all the world springs from her seed.
In fact, if God ever married, she would be His queen.
The Europeans come and like what they'd seen.
Black beauty ruling over diamonds and things.
Even saw the people and the strength they possessed.
So much, they took us and yall know the rest.
But still inside, Black kings and queens reigned.
Forced to listen to ignorant things.
But if the lion is the king of the jungle,Why is my Black king wearing his mane?
Or just because I'm Black, I need to be tamed.
Stereotypically, yet hypocritically, society judges me so critically.
Saying, "He's only good if he's an athlete physically,
Cause his Black can never make it in the real world mentally."
But actually, the only challenge right here is inside of me.
So I pour out my heart and hope my Black hears my plea!!
Let's go show the people who ruled the world for centuries!!
Pharoahs, kings, and queens over everything.
My Black is beautiful, strong, courageous.
That's why my Black is president over the nation.
They say the color happiness in today's world is green.
So it's time for us to shine and make Our Black seen.

Amanda1982 got a reaction from lakegirl88 in Fat Pictures...OMG This is why I love this site I’ve been struggling with this lately but for me it’s every time I see an old picture of myself I think that’s what I must still look like even though I’ve lost almost 90 pounds. I never really knew I looked that heavy in the first place so I struggle with my mind telling me “since you weren’t aware you were heavy back then, your still not aware the you are heavy now” Does this make since to anyone else? I feel like I look okay when I take pictures alone but when I take picture with other people in them I feel like I look fat….

Amanda1982 got a reaction from meyouus in To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...Alright ladies...lets calm our heads and just agree to disagree. Exercise is important for health. You may get results without it. But your life, health, and overall wellbeing will be great if you include it in your life style changes. At the end of the day, the choice is yours...and my definition of success my be different from your definition of success depending on what our goals are. Me is to live longer and be s healthier me. And "I" need exercise to accomplish this. Your goal may just be to lose weight....and you only need the band. Whatever the case its your life and your decision. Not for us to judge eachother. We are here to support eachother.

Amanda1982 got a reaction from tweetychelle in To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...WOW the truth hurts dosen't it? LOL... I am a single working (Mon-Fri 8-5) mother of two, an 8 yr old and a 2yr old. But I get up every morning at 4am and do 4-5 miles of cardio (1hr) and sometimes even strength training. It's the only time when my children are asleep and I have time to myself. Why??? Because I know I wont be able to fit it in at the end of the day. I'm too tired..but I also know that a good cardio workout in the morning will give my slow metabolism a extra boost for the day, it will help tone my body and the green tea I drink before my workouts puts me in a better mood and gives me a little extra energy to deal with my daily duties. Do I love it?? Not really but I will admit I do like how I feel after a workout. I do love the way sweat helps release negative toxins and feelings. and I also love a good stretch in the morning. I guess what I'm saying is you may not love it but it works, it's important, and your grown to like it if you find a program that you enjoy.
At the same time I want to stress..don't beat eachother up. This is a lifestyle change and for some it harder than for others. If you haven't been working out to help out your band, today is a new day and it not too late.... To the OP every pound is a success 30 pounds is not bad maybe they could have lost more in a year.. maybe not. Anyone who has lost 30 pounds is 30 polunds healthier in my book.

I've plenty of big friends that say I'll be shrinking, while they remain fat. It's almost like they're trying to put on a guilt trip. Some of my friends that are like that work in the same environment, and thus, are covered by the same insurance I went through to receive the procedure, but don't want to make the effect to get the process started.

Amanda1982 got a reaction from R Michelle Scales Jenkins in What Simple Thing (Did You Do Eating Wise) To Make Living With The Band Normal ???I dont mind answering.....
1) How Long ?
I've been banded a little over a year and I would have to say that it's still not normal. I have to be very careful to chew, eat small bites and slow down. This will always be in the font of my mind. I don think that should or would change.
2) Anything to Quicken Your Adjustment Period for normalcy?
Nope...Everyone has to learn on their own and in their own time.
3) Anything you wish you would have done differently?
I wish I would have stayed away from negative posts on this site...its just pointless to compare yourself with another banders success.

Amanda1982 got a reaction from ssankofa73 in Welll... Yeah....Really look at yourself and determine when and why your are eating around the band. Are you sleepy and sweets late at night help you stay up? If so,then "GO TO BED" . Are you really hungry? If so, eat foods that are filling and packed with protein. Tuna is a great one. What you don't want to do is get in a funk. Don't beat yourself up. "Keep it moving" you have to determine what your bad habbits are and the reason for them before you can break them. The band wont help us with the mental changes that we have to make, neither will your doc holding your fills hostage lol. . Good Luck!

Amanda1982 got a reaction from bigenuff in Not Doing GoodYou know, its so easy for us to get caught up in everything that going on in our lives and we forget to take care of ourselves (I know I have). Now that your husband is better it's time for you to take care of you. Just like everyone has said, get back to the basics. Don't be afraid to start over because "you can do all things". Good Luck to you!!!!

Amanda1982 reacted to B-52 in New At This !!!Just be mindful that EVERYBODY looses weight post-op, how can one not being on liquids and mushies.
Now the real challenge starts, REAL FOOD! and getting back to where you were before you had the surgery, (bandster hell) only all healed up and ready to go for the next phase.
I started to gain weight at that point, even after my first fill.....but that was not the end of the world, because they have to get your band adjusted to where it begins
doing what it is designed to do in the first place. And right after surgery is not it.
So be patient no matter what may happen in the future. It will all come together eventually.
Congratulations!
Everybody was new at this at one point, and managed to be successful just the same! The only thing that can get in your way is YOU!
