I am overweight with a family history of heart disease.  I've recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  Despite this I'm fairly fit and climbed Ben Nevis (Scotland's highest mountin, but it does have a path!)Having yo-yo dieted for years, I want to get in control of my weight for good and my surgeon has said the gastric band is preferable to the balloon.I'm very, very nervous - particularly at the thought of never being able to eat a steak or barbecued pork chops again!  I'm going to see the dieticians in two weeks to discuss full dietary requirements after banding - at the moment I really don't have any knowledge of what will really be required.
