My sleeve surgery was on 5/13 and it was the first surgery I had also. Everything has gone smooth so far. I would encourage you to just follow the advice of the nurses and your surgeon to the best of your ability. Walk as much as you can during your recovery in the hospital, that helped me so much with gas and pain. If something feels wrong, ask questions and for help. They are there to help you. I called my Bariatric advice nurse everyday this week to ensure I'm doing everything ok. It felt like I was over-communicating and bothering them, but this is MY recovery and MY experience. They reassured me they are there to answer any questions and help me along the way. Utilize your resources! Listen to your stomach - it will talk to you after we surgery.

    1. Give it time. You're only 2 weeks out. Also, there's a chance you'll lose no weight at all for a few weeks (search 3 week stall). Mentally prep for it, because if slow loss is bothering you now, the stall will be a mind ****.
    2. You started at a lower BMI, so naturally, your weight lost will be slower than someone who weighs more than you.
    3. Search the board for people who started out at a similar weight. Your experience is likely more normal than you think. You may need to reset your expectations about the process.

    Good luck on your journey.

The recommendation from my team is keep it simple at first, hold off on fancy sauces, marinades and sides. Your first solid food meals you probably won't even finish since a bite or two will fill you up. Also introduce foods one at a time, that way if your new sleeve/pouch rejects something you can narrow it down easier, food logging also helps with this. Good Luck ?.

Thank you everyone for your kind words!! All went well. I've been in and out of sleep. The worst pain is from the gas and the "bigger" incision. I expected the pain level to be way higher than it is. The binder adds more pressure to the wounds but it definitely helps with the burping and occasionally cough

Surgery was on 5/13/2019 and came home yesterday from the hospital. Dr. said everything went well and no issues at all.. As soon as I came home I drank a big gulp of G2 not thinking of the ramifications of gulping. We'll I know the ramification now, straight to the sink and it is not very delightful to throw up with 85% of your stomach gone. So I got it now. Overall, feeling good but still some pain and still have some gas to get out. Popsicles, Premier Protein, Broth, G2 (slowly), and jello for the next 10days til I see my surgeon on 5/23/2019 to hopefully move on to Phase 2. But, let me tell you guy something, this ain't no joke pain wise when u wake up in recovery and you first night in the hospital. So don't think this is a joke and u will be running marathons any time soon. Just give yourself sometime to heal, that's what I am doing... Best of luck guys and if you have any questions let me know....

Friends- some advice - Follow the rules or else.
It has been exactly 2 weeks since my surgery and I have been 100% compliant with the diet. When I transitioned to mushies (day 10), I made a bunch of different purées (tuna, buffalo chicken dip, beans and salsa, spinach artichoke, sweet potato, eggplant, mashed cauliflower, baked ricotta). I added gene pro to the veggies and packaged them in 3 ounce containers (except for the ricotta since I was using a slightly bigger container to bake in - 4 ounces). So things were going fine and I had no problems with drinking or mushies...UNTIL last night!
I had eaten the ricotta twice before but added a bunch more tomato sauce and I think I ate it in two sittings or really slow. Last night I was out of tomato sauce and it was getting late so I ate almost the whole thing before I suddenly felt full...I was almost finished so I took another bite...BIG mistake. I was so uncomfortably full and bloated almost immediately.
About an hour later I tried to go to sleep. I ended up throwing up about 6 times during the night (lasted 8 -9 hours). Plus had severe stomach cramping. It was awful and scary. So this is my warning.

Mistake 1 - ricotta bake is not a mushy unless thinned with tomato sauce
Mistake 2 - eating more than 3 ounces
Mistake 3 - laying down only one hour after eating (I never noticed this rule but my plan says 2 hours).

    Hope this helps.
    Stella

I'm finally at the hospital being admitted. My nerves hadn't kicked in until now. Surgery is in about an hour and half and the nerves are kicking it with a pinch of anxiety. Trying to stay objective but this is my first major surgery.

Please send positive vibes this way.
