  5. Julie, you’re not alone. I wonder how long my band will last as well, but fortunately I’ve had zero problems six years in. I never “test” it, and I maintain a healthy respect for the rules, including no NSAIDs for my arthritis. If I ever had problems and needed it removed, I would certainly have another WLS again. I love my band. SW 302 LW 171 CW 189 Banded 2014

  7. Just a note to the person who asked about which foods I have trouble with banded. I get stuck on pork (?), raw carrots (always) and soft b read if don’t go slowly and take small bites. Toast, no problem.
  8. Hi Julie! I haven’t logged in in over a year. So glad to see you posting here. I am coming up on six years with a successful band next month. Still 187 pounds and grateful that it has been stable. I’d love to take more weight off, so I’ve recently adjusted my d iet to eliminate the huge salads I was eating and eat more solid p rotein. Last time I was here there was a Banders 7 thread. Is there a newer thread with any old timers?

  12. I was driving to work last week and found myself staring into the face of my surgeon on a bus advertisement for LapBand! I was very happy to see he is still actively promoting the band. I've been very happy with my experience.
  13. My weight loss has stopped. I am going through a divorce as well. I'm taking it a day at a time and finding ways to soothe myself without food. Support groups are very important.
  14. My band dims my appetite for 4 hours between meals and I am no longer ravenous. ***drops mic***
  15. Good reminders. Funny how you forget things. I used to keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge but forgot all about them recently. Great lists.
  16. Loved this post!
  17. I would add: McDonald's. Scrambled eggs. Sausage. Bacon. Yes, I eat bacon. Subway. Soup. Wendy's. Chili. Thanks for the tips!
  18. This applies to so much more than weight loss. Thanks for the great post.
  19. I'm a bander. I reintroduced beef at six weeks post op when I started back on solid foods.
  20. Snacking is counterproductive for me, a bander. If my meals are five hours apart or less, I don't need a snack. My appetite goes to sleep between meals. If I delay my meal beyond that, a snack can help bridge the gap and prevent overeating, but the down side is now I've awakened my appetite. For ME, a bander, snacking is not helpful.
  21. Well said, Alex. The tabloid magazines are just as guilty.
  22. So many examples of conditional love in my life. Making changes. Good article.
