I Had Gas Pains soooo bad it really hurt in my Chest and Shoulder quite a but until about 2-3 months after surgery. It really felt like I was having a heart attack. My dr. said that walking would make the pain go away and it did! Chew Chew Chew is the only solution on the food though. If you overfill above the band it will really hurt. You will get into the new lifestyle soon and you will know what to do and when to do it. A hot cup of tea in the morning when you are first starting out will help so that you can slowly transition yourself into eating the way that the band will let you eat. GOOD LUCK!

I would suggest taking your first bite then sipping some cold water. once you feel the first bite and the water go though the band then you can eat and drink a little more. I am the same way as you are, I have to have drink when I eat. after the initial first bite has gone through your band you are good to go! If you get jammed up just stop until it has passed. I also find out that drinking hot tea before you eat a meal will allow you to pretty much eat and drink normally.....Good luck!

I had my banding in Mexico and I feel that the doctors there were more experienced than the American Doctors. I Chose Dr. Verboonen at the Obesity Goodbye Center in Tijuana. He has ten times the experience of the American Doctors who have only performed 60-70 bandings. Just make sure that you get a LapBand system since it is the only one approved in the United States thus far. My Parents were very mad that I chose MX for my surgery, but my band has NEVER slipped like they have in the US. You will not be dissappointed that you chose to go to Mexico to have this surgery. Actually, mexicans think (per my conversation with my nurse there) that Americans are rather unhealthy and dirty......GO FIGURE! Feel free to e-mail me if you have any concerns or questions.
