I just recently Stalled out at 9 weeks out... Today, weighed in at the doctor's office and I was officially below 200 lbs!!! You just have to keep telling yourself that the scale is just a number, and that the non-scale victories are much more important! For me, I recently had to go shopping for my cousin's wedding a week and a half ago because nothing I had fit me anymore. To top that off, For the first time in over 10 years, I did not have to shop in the Plus Size section! I was excited to say the least.

I am 5 weeks out and have lost 30lbs... but I had a high BMI. It seems to me like people with a higher BMI tend to lose more in the beginning than people with a lower BMI. Not sure though, everyone is different! Some people lose like 90lbs in 3-4months! I so want to be one of those people, but probably won't be! Lets just be thankful we're all losers!!! Whoop whoop!! =)~

Well, I am one month out almost 5 weeks actually.... I think I have a sleeve of steel! Nothing has bothered my stomach so far.. which is not necessarily a good thing if you think about it. I have not tried steak or salad, but I am going to soon, I have been craving salad for quite a while! I have had bread, with no problems, but it does fill you up! But I love those Duos Cheese-Its! OMG addicting, I have to be very careful... I have made that Baked Riccotta and added meatballs, very good! Also KOCH makes these little packs (2 in a pack) of Chicken Cordon Bleu, they also have one with bacon and cheddar Jack cheese, and one with broccoli, and one with mushrooms. The chicken breast is small. I can almost eat a whole one. They come frozen, I bought them at walmart. They have 25-27g of protein each and very tasty. The thing is I chew for a long time! Can't wait for salad, I'm trying it tomorrow, I'll let you know!

I still have a ways to go but have had some of these problems as well:
Only spending 15 minutes in Goodwill because there was 3 cute shirts in the size I needed right off the bat.
Being able to sit up to get out of bed instead of rolling out.
Sitting in the bath tub and not touching each side.

This post and everyone's responses have made me literally laugh out loud! I can't wait to have these problems. :-) It will be such a great feeling to be able to share more than just shoes and jewelry with my skinny daughter!!

It sucks having so much extra room in the theater seats or at sporting events... everyone expects you to hold their stuff and place it in the crevice.

I need to add to this one!! When sitting at my desk and a paperclip drops into my lap and I quickly close my legs to catch it and hear the paperclip hit the floor because it passed thru the space between my thinner thighs!! LOLS!!

Restaurant booths are now too BIG and you have to scoot forward to reach the table!
Blood pressure cuffs are hard to adjust SMALL enough when the used to barely fit at all.
You feel like you are gyping the server at a restaurant when you tip the regular 15%, only now it's on less than HALF the regular bill becasue you are splitting Entrees and skipping deserts.

Hah! The normal-sized hospital gown will fit, so I won't be able to have that lovely hallways conversation when I discover, when half my clothes are already off, that they brought me the XL gown instead of the XXL gown.

Not there yet, but that is what I am looking forward to:
standard sized seats (in cinemas, aiplanes, restaurants etc..) are not intruments of torture.

It's not all pretty - it's not all easy to go from morbidly obese to...well..not morbidly obese. I know when I was pre-op I was always looking for the terrible side effects so I had in my mind the potential of what difficult steps I had ahead for me. Now that I'm 7 months out and down 109 pounds, I know the reality of what I had to adjust to.
    1. Cute shirt in department store ad catches my eye. It's plus sized, it was drape over me, it's not an option.
    2. Lane Bryant emails are now just more spam.
    3. Can't say "LMAO" anymore cause it's already gone...
    4. Automatic toilets scare the crap out of you! There's no longer that one minute delay after my big ol fat butt gets off the toilet. The immediate "Whooosh!" is so unexpected!
    5. Bummed out MIL when she offered to give me the 16's she had gotten too thin for an was now in her goal weight of a 14 and had to tell her I was now at a 12 (okay, so maybe I did kinda enjoy that moment...PS- now a size 10)
    = )
Post ops, feel free to add to my list.....

The dreaded 3 week stall. It's a very well known phenomenon in the world of VSG. Some have it a 2 weeks, others at 4 weeks but the majority have it at 3 weeks. Hang in there and keep following your doctor's orders and it will break. I promise.

I am three weeks out, surgery was 7/24, and I can eat steak. Today was the first time I tried and I had no problems. I went to Applebee's with my team for lunch. I only ate about an ounce, cut it up really small, and chewed it completely - and about a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. I brought the leftovers home and I had another ounce of steak and a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. The hubs ate the rest. (He told me I should go to Applebee's more often!) Not bad for a $10 meal that fed me twice, and the hubs once.

I eat nuts as well with no problem.
One thing I do is measure my food. I measure about 2.5 ounces and eat that. If I eat too much, it does sit really heavy. I think my eyes still think I can eat a bigger portion, so, weighing out my food is a good idea for me. For example, the other night, I ate 2.5 ounces of pork steak and 1 ounce or brocolli for dinner. I measured so I knew exactly how much I ate. I did feel really full after, so next time, I am going to either forgo the broccolli, or if I really want that, I would decrease the meat by .5.
