This morning I went to surgent's office to take my 6 nonths papers they got me approved in 10 minutes! And got my pre op diet, and surgery date all that in about an hour. thank God! Feel so happy. Will get surgery on the 19th!

So let's recap....You lost 55lbs in 3-4 months give or take & you have now been away from your doctor longer then you were with him & your weight has held steady during this time.......on what planet is that a failing????? I don't know about everyone else here but prior to banding I had never maintained the same weight for a year, it was always gaining or losing not maintaining.
Even if your doctor is wrong or horrible (not saying he is or isn't) the band IS doing something. Yes, it may not be working to it's max potential if you are not filled enough but it clearly hasn't been useless. So find a different doctor if you don't feel you can face your old one, not I didn't call him your current doctor because he can't be considered current if you haven't seen him in over a year.
None of this meant to hurt you & it can be directed to many many posters here because after reading posts for 2 years now I have come to realize many people who already have the band do not really get what the band can & can't do. Worse, they lie to their doctor about how much the can eat & their hunger levels to get filled to the point that the band is a strangulation device since that is the quickest way to weight loss.
I will be banded 2 years on October 25th and have lost almost 90lbs, which is slower then some & faster then others. I have spent 2 approx 4 month stretches during these almost 2 years where my weight stayed the same. Being 100% honest I can say it was because I didn't do the level of work I needed to keep losing. I ate/drank to many things that just slide on through our little band buddy. Told my doctor flat out didn't try to pretend otherwise. Then got my S#@t back together and started going down again.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again & good luck :)

Today was awesome! I officially hit 50 pounds and am now under 200 weighing in at 198! I was banded two months ago and I had lost 18 pounds the month prior.
So I posted this photo on Facebook and it was so encouraging to see how many people liked and commented on my photos!! People really are supportive!
I'd love to see more before and after photos of people!

Thanks to all, and no I haven't had a fill. I have no restriction at all. I get a fill on the 8/8. I know it's a tool....but I just expect better of my self. hearing it from others somehow makes it more believable. Does that make sense?

1. Get healthier! Lose weight!
2.Be able to run and play with my children .
3.Be able to sit comfortably in a normal size seat .
4.put on clothes that is not plus size
5. actually be in family pictures and feel good about it.
6. Never drink sodas again

I feel good about my dr. his name is John groves, about 3 or 4 years ago he got the band. He looks great. He was 340lbs and he has lost over 100lbs. So I know he really can teach me about the band.

I want to be able to go into a public restroom and not feel like a canned sardine in the stall! Sounds silly but I hate to use the handicap but the others are so small!

Lisa, I'm so proud of you! you have just inspired me. thank you for your post. I can only hope that I do half of what you've done. I will try my hardest 2 maybe inspire my own family. I have a wonderful son and daughter that I do not want to get to the point where I am. my 12 year old son has fatty liver disease. so we're both helping each other. since we're both on a diet. wish us good luck .... thank you

Hi deborah! I am Lupe and I'm going to get my lap band on june 19th. I have 2 kids 12 and 8, so I have to get fit & healthy for them.... This Weight is holding down. I always find myself wanting to do things but don't , cuz I think I look ridiculous.... I don't know if you do that too. But I'm make sure a big change my life! it feels like the longest 2 weeks of my life.... keep us posted.
