I love your positive attitude and your bubbly nature. Keep being who you are and if people don't like it they can move on simple. I don't agree with everything I see posted online be it in this forums or other forums but as I see it we are all entitled to feel and believe in what we do or don't. I was raised a catholic but I'm not a practicing catholic. Maybe I just haven't found my connection with God but because you have I'm not going to put you down for your beliefs. People just remember we are all individuals with the right to our own beliefs and even if you don't agree with others and feel the urge to voice your opinions there is a polite and mature way to do it.

LOL. Just came back from the grocery. If the shelves were always as empty as they are now, weight loss wouldn't be a problem.

Push up bras are my new best friends! I nursed 3 kids for all at least a year, plus the weight loss. My boob flap jacks are a far cry from the full DDD I use to carry around.

    What everyone else has said.
Just wanted to say, how dare her say anything "looks like you're starting a diet". I would have been a smart @#$ and said no, why do you think that?
Also my son-in-laws are store managers, if they heard that conversation she would have been called out.
My sister had GB and she lost a lot of weight quickly and she's now gained most of it back.
Best wishes on whatever you decide!
    How dare her!!!!!

You need to be able to have a higher level of confidence in your own decisions. Other people, especially cashiers at the store have no clue as to your motivations for WLS, or any of the medical conditions which contributed to your decision to have the band placed.
Others you may encounter along the way are not qualified to render medical decisions, period. I'm also happy for you that you have a supportive husband who understands this.
Get back in touch with your initial reasons for why you chose to have band surgery, and let them be your guide. If you have genuine doubt about proceeding with your surgery, then postpone it until you are sure and have done some additional research.
I rarely mention that I have had WLS, and am always polite when I hear negative feedback from others. I simply ask them to list their medical credentials for me with a smile. That usually gets the point across...they are not qualified to give an opinion.
Best wishes as you begin your journey...

My mom is the last person I would willingly tell. She is of the opinion that most doctors are quacks and just out for money. When I was going through some scary procedures last year to be tested for leukemia (after band & not related) she told me I was thinking myself sick and trying to give myself leukemia by convincing myself I had it... for attention... Whacko. That totally made me feel like I did the right thing with not telling her about my band. I can only imagine what her response to that would be... On the flip side I did tell my stepmom who supported my decision totally. To tell or not to tell is a case by case person by person basis for me. Close minded judgmental people have no business knowing my business.

So the average is 55%, don't you think that is awesome? Because it sure is a lot better that 0% right? or even worse, if you keep gaining weight.
I guess it all depends on how YOU look at things and it is completely normal to have fears and insecurities before making such an important decision but the truth is that it is the RIGHT decision.
So put aside those negative thoughts and embrace this new chapter in your life, embrace it fully and with enthusiasm.

Yesterday it was in high 80's and now today it's dropped down to the high 60's. I was actually cold so I went into my closet to pull out my once favorite black cardigan.
The cardigan I wore the day I had surgery and I haven't worn in many months.
Holy cow, I couldn't believe how huge it was on me! I mean, I guess I should've known because I've dropped 5-6 sizes since then, but putting that sweater on was a "wow" moment. It really put into perspective how far I've come. Especially considering the day of surgery, I couldn't button it because it was too tight across the tummy if I did.
So, I thought I'd share the difference. Here is me in the now massive sweater

PKB: An excellent thread...because the more we understand about ourselves and identify the core issues behind the self loathing and anger directed inward the more opportunity to change one's thinking to a healthier and more accurate perspective.
We cannot change our history...but we can accept that those events, however hurtful or harmful did happen. And then we can begin the process of revising our automatic thoughts and beliefs into a healthier and more accurate perspective. We can move beyond the negative and become successful with getting our minds and bodies into a healthier condition.
I'm excited that you took the initiative to realize that you wanted and/or needed to change the direction of your life...kudos to you for taking the steps to become your catalyst for positive change!
    Best wishes...

You're both right, Im going to focus on the good stuff I can have & also try to encourage rather than nag him towards the healthy things he can enjoy that will help him get stronger without clogging up the arteries or gastric tract. He loves fresh fruit & veggies so we are good there. we are in Texas afterall, so good steak is plentiful. He & I are both allergic to fish so so we do gravitate to the chicken & steak & pork. I think I got ahead of myself & was just picturing the gorge at first & not the realistic methodical approach. Thank you for the clarity & kind words ladies!

I agree with Cazzy. He doesn't have to have all of the really-bad-but-oh-so-good foods to gain the weight - - lean, healthy food with high protein may be just as effective.
I have been doing "seperate" grocery shopping for months and it doesn't even bother me. I have it set in my mind that certain things are my husbands and others are mine. My husband is pretty fit, and has actually lost 7 lbs since I've been banded sharing my healthy meals. He has a really intense job though, and doesn't get a lunch break, so he has to "graze" all day. I just buy snacks that are on the healthier side but still ones I wouldn't eat (the "healthy" crackers, regular yogurt, etc).
I hope your husband has a quick recovery and you're able to continue your success.

You know maybe this wont be as bad as u think it would be. I dont think any hospital would advocate someone clogging their arteries with saturated fat in order to gain weight. Personally i think u should keep on the low fat side of things like milk and salad dressing but make sure he has those replacement meal shakes for additional calories, plenty of healthy pasta and maybe large amounts of protein like big steaks. Putting on weight in an unhealthy way to me is just as bad as not putting weight on at all. its about increasing good calories and not increasing the bad, i am sure u can find a working solution. Good luck and i wish him a speedy recovery and you your sanity !

My driver's license says 158 and the picture was taken 3 days before my surgery weighing in at 235!! You wouldn't even recognize me in the pic, I tell you bad angles at the DMV!!! My friends or I should say my 11 year old girl's friends like to look at it for a good laugh!! Told myself I would get a new one when I reached my goal and could be honest about the weight. Time to get myself in there for a new picture!
It did make for a good post on facebook when I wrote I finally weighed what my driver's license said!

I realized today I weigh less than what my drivers license says I do, which was a "wishful thinking" number too start with! Thank goodness they dont call you on it! I always figure DMV & police must look at the weights people have down for themselves & laugh. I think when I hit goal Im going to insist on a new license with my real weight & a new pic & then find reasons to get pulled over just so I can show it off ~lol.
