therealme89 reacted to Justme9786 in Water!!!Hey all - just thought I'd share some insight on the band and Water. They should be best friends!
I've always struggled in keeping myself hydrated...but I'll tell you what...if I don't, my band notices.
Since starting my most recent diet again, I told myself I was going to drink at least 6 12.9oz bottles of water a day and I was and all of those days, I was able to eat NO PROBLEM. No stuck feeling..I was able to eat NORMAL. lol
Today, I got busy at work, etc. etc. and missed out on some water like I should have and my band is yelling at me now that it's lunch time.
I'm on a high Protein high fat low carb diet and I've always had problems with protein (chicken) going down, but if i drink enough water throughout the day, it's way easier.
So, just a tip for new & old bandsters. DRINK THAT WATER! It really does make a difference!

therealme89 reacted to AmberMarieRDA in Anyone on here single?UUUUGGGGGG! I'm a great example of a relationship ending after having lap band! I've lost almost 115 Lbs. My now Ex fiance is 80lbs plus since we've been together. We started dating 3 months before I had my surgery 2 yrs ago. I've become A Lot more confident and he has lost all confidence that he has become unattractive to me. I've tried to be strong and supportive for the both of us, but i found myself putting ME last and my health last (actually gaining 10 lbs)! I stopped trying on "Us" and started focusing on ME and needing to also Love myself more. I also experienced through my body change that i was lying to myself about loving myself! I have body issues that I need to still overcome and I know I need to be alone for it OR have someone who is self motivated and supportive to be healthier!

therealme89 got a reaction from judych in Emotionalhang in there i felt the same way and even started getting emotional during pre opt...... in fact i posted this on Jan 1 ............ "i have been on the pre opt diet for almost 2 weeks and getting close to my surgery date (JAN 4th) and this liquid diet has made me realize how much food is a part of my life and how much of an emotional eater i have been. i have literally broken down into tears a few times because of the emotional impact of this diet. it may have a lot to due with the fact that my liquid diet started dec 22 so it has gone on through the holidays and seeing everyone eat together and seeing all the joy that it brings to them made me a bit nostalgic. its been tough but also an eye opener to realize that i am so attached to food and to realize all the feelings that it can bring about. i didn't realize how emotional this journey was going to be. and i guess in any other emotional situation i would recruit to food but this time i can't and i think that is why i had a few break downs, because i can no longer find comfort and consolation in food and that brings me a since of loneliness ( as pathetic as that might sound) but i guess now is when i start the journey of realizing that food wasnt or shouldnt be the solution to an emotional situation but the problem. so its time to end this bad relationship and break up with food. "
its completely normal to feel emotional during this journey as someone mentioned before its normal to morn the life we left behind the only life we have ever known

therealme89 reacted to xsentrick in EmotionalI didn't cry, but I did have some emotionally charged moments. Mine was due to the realization that I was truly addicted to food. It will pass and you'll soon be feeling good and spreading the joy!

therealme89 reacted to goal_will_be_met in Who Needs To Lose 100 Lbs Or More?I've lost 67 pounds and still have about 40 to go. It is alot of hard work One of the things that makes me mad people think all we do is get the band and thats that..but its not we have to still work our booty off and battle food. The only difference is we have a tool. I am very grateful for the chance to have this surgery. I get mad at times because I feel like I should be further along but you know I realize I should be proud of where I am...so to say We are all here for ya and please ask any questions you have

therealme89 reacted to sam3841 in Onderland! FinallyYesterday I reached a goal I wanted for a long time. I got to onderland! And I only have 20 more lbs till my bmi is in normal range (I am 5'11). I have lost 94lbs, which is 80% of my excess weight. I am getting really scared that the weight is going to come off real slowly now, but I am patient. My Dr has even asked if I would take part in a commerical for the lapband. I am starting Insanity today and the normal weight loss, if you complete the program from what I have seen is 30 lbs given that you have 30lbs to lose. I would add pics but its doing this weird distorting thing from my phone.

therealme89 reacted to TexasDy in Fat Comments...Someone else posted about an ignorant person making comments about her weight pre-band to her fiance. I decided it's time to share my similar experience.
This happened the night before my very first consultation. What a coincidence, right?
I was picking my husband up from work. He's retail security, so I was walking around the store waiting for his shift to end. I saw one of his coworkers (that I'd met more than once) and said 'hey how's it going'. He said fine and treated me like I was invisible. Whatever right. My husband has told me dozens of times that he's not a good person and has a very low opinion of women (he has said any woman over 100lbs is fat). So I didn't think anything of it that he didn't recognize me or say hello.
When he got back to the office, where my husband was, he said "dude, this fat chick just hit on me. She looked at me like I was food!" Then turned the security camera to where I was standing (just outside their office at this point) and said "there she is!"
It took every ounce of self control my husband has not to lay him out right there. He knew he would lose his job. He told the guy I was his wife and walked out. I'm very proud of him for being the bigger man. It showed more respect for me to have self control than for him to do anything macho.
I've been good at not letting it drag me down. And it helps that the guy almost got fired over it. (He's working nights only now, so at most my husband only works with him 3-4 hours a week) But sometimes it's hard to remember that I'm taking control of my weight FOR ME and not some comment that was made.
So to all of you Newbies, Recently Banded, and Long Term Successes - Remember you're not alone. You are valuable. You are beautiful on the outside too, no matter what our culture tells us. Good luck to all of you!!

therealme89 got a reaction from judych in Getting Stucki am much better now ... i can eat normally now i just needed to let the fill adjust and perhaps the swelling to go down but on the 3rd day i was back to normal

therealme89 reacted to 2muchfun in Getting StuckWhat is getting stuck? chicken, breads, rice, mashed potatoes, salads? Are you taking very small bites and eating very slowly? I got stuck a lot at fill 3 but it was my own fault. I ate too fast and put too much food in my face. It's a learning process and I'm still learning. I'm on fill 5 and got stuck at Breakfast this morning but only for 10 minutes.
tmf
I see we share the same birthday only 41 years apart.

therealme89 reacted to Cocoabean in Getting StuckSometimes there is swelling after a fill. Every time there is a learning curve for me after a fill. Smaller bites, chewing more, slowing down. there might be a food I can no longer tolerate. My 4th fill I ended up slightly overfilled. I put up with it for a week. When I got stuck on mashed potatoes and then yogurt, I have up and went in for a slight unfill.
I'd had 1cc put in, I had .5cc taken out. It was instant relief! A month later I went back and had 1cc put in and was fine there for a year. So, go figure.
