  1. Mom, do you have Medicare or Medicaid? Many doctor's offices waive their fee for Medicare/Medicaid patients, so if you do have it you may want to ask. Worst thing they can do is say no
  2. Just thought I'd post and say hi. Husband and I are both doing this (well, pending insurance approval). My primary insurance doesnt do Lap Band, but WV Medicaid *just* started to, and we have medical cards until the end of July. We're going to be our doctor's first Medicaid bands, actually. We've done all the testing. All we're waiting on now is the psych report, then they will get on the phone with Medicaid and get it approved. From what the doc's office has told me, the approval will be the easiest part. Then I have to get my gall bladder out about a week before the big surgery. Husband has about 150 to lose (he can probably get away with less because he is a BIG guy and really tall). Most docs would say I "need" to lose about 180 but I'd be happy with around 130. Husband's still in college; I'm a welfare caseworker (so if anyone in WV has Medicaid questions, I'm your girl). We have a 5 year old daughter who, thank God, ended up with skinny genes and didn't get our body types. So yeah -- that's about it.
