MeMaof2byz got a reaction from ShianRaineDrop in June 2022 surgery buddiesHow's everyone doing?
I had my RNY on 6/6/22 and feel very fortunate that the only issue I had was an allergic reaction to the iodine prep they do before they start surgery. I broke out in itchy hives from chest to crotch. 3 days of prednisone and Vistaril and I am as good as new.
Just started my multi vitamin, that is hard because it is like eating chalk but I choke it down along with my Omeprazole each morning.
Not being able to chug my water is challenging but I find if I put lots of ice in my cup it causes me to drink it slower.
I found this stuff called Dr. Berg's Nutritional Yeast, it is so good! 2 tbs has 11 grams of protein, so I tend to add it to almost everything, such as soup, Riccota bake, and eggs.
I do not get hungry so I have set a timer for every 2 hrs so I eat and my main focus is on protein, making sure I get 80 grams in a day.

MeMaof2byz reacted to Mariann812 in June 2022 surgery buddiesHi, Summer: What time on Wednesday? Right now I'm scheduled for noon but that is subject to change.
I know I take it Tuesday night at my regular time - I take it at 9pm-ish. Wednesday night i'll be overnight in the hospital so I will ask them how they want me to take it.

MeMaof2byz got a reaction from Raw188 in 6/6 Pre Op Liquid DietToday is day 7 of pre op diet, I am no longer dealing with hunger pains. I do get a little lightheaded if I try to do anything to physical, ie. help move the dog house, and stairs suck.
I am down to 254.9 so I have lost 7 lbs.
How is everyone doing with their pre op liquid diet? What is your surgery date?

MeMaof2byz reacted to JulieAnn718 in June 2022 surgery buddiesSame - excited and nervous! Mine is 6/6 but I don’t have my time yet. I hope it’s early! Good luck to you! -
MeMaof2byz reacted to KelsVSG in June 2022 surgery buddiesA little over 2 weeks till surgery (6/16). Starting my preop diet Thursday. My program includes no caffeine :(, Sugar, Dairy, or carbs with the final two days being liquid only. As it gets closer the more anxious I get, I have been on a weight loss journey for 10 years and I'm really hoping this will finally be it.

MeMaof2byz reacted to Theana in June 2022 surgery buddiesJune 6th!
I started the liquid diet on May 16th. It’s a 3 week liquid diet, super strict one too compared to some I’ve seen. I’m hanging in there though!
We can do this! -
MeMaof2byz reacted to Tatt in June 2022 surgery buddiesMy surgery is June 13th and this past Monday I started my 3 week pre op diet. From what I can tell it's easier than most but I am having a hard time with my food addiction. Dr has me on a high protein, low fat low carb less than 1000 calories a day to shrink my liver. I do my preop exam next Friday.
My daughter's after school clubs are all having their last meetings which means she has brought home left over pizza, cookies, chips and soda. Now she is tired of junk but wants to save it for later. My addiction tells me one cookie wouldn't hurt and no one would know. The problem besides, being on pre op, is I never stop at 1 cookie ,,if I did I sure wouldn't be having surgery. We went grocery shopping today and I went into my room, turned on some music, and cried. Idk if I am having such a hard time now how I am gonna handle 2 weeks of liquids only after surgery. It has to get easier right?

MeMaof2byz reacted to acopas in June 2022 surgery buddiesDo you have a support group within your surgeons office or a good support system at home? I know several people in here meet with therapist that specialize in food addiction. It may be beneficial to meet with one. My family are starting a diet at the same time that my preop start so it should be easier as they won’t be eating the garbage either.

MeMaof2byz reacted to karmaleeta in June 2022 surgery buddiesIt does get easier! I am on Day 10 of my 2-week pre op diet, and I had my first slip up tonight. I couldn’t stop thinking about all the food I couldn’t have, and I came so close to ordering a turkey sub, but then I settled on a frozen breakfast burrito in my freezer. I feel super guilty, but I’ve read stories from other people who have cheated so much worse and more frequently, so I think I’ll be okay. Find yourself a yummy drink mix to make water more appealing, and try mixing crystal light and ice with a vanilla protein shake in the blender - tastes a lot like a frosted lemonade! -
MeMaof2byz reacted to Mariann812 in June 2022 surgery buddiesGood luck to the 5/31 and 6/1 surgeries. I’m scheduled for 7:30 am surgery on 6/8.
I’m off to the beach now with my daughter for a couple of days. DH will be staying home with her twin brother and the ? dogs ? for some golf and fishing. I need this time to chill, relax, and to continue to give myself pep talks about 6/8.
I’m SO ready for this surgery, I am simultaneously nervous and eager.
Again, best wishes to all!

MeMaof2byz reacted to Tatt in June 2022 surgery buddiesI have therapist that is helping me with PTSD who also specializes in food addiction and body dysmorphia. She is going to be there every step of the way as everything changes. Honestly I kind of expected the food addiction to pop it's ugly little head up after surgery....I just forgot the preop could have me start to face it before surgery (even though I read about all the challenges other's have had with it). Yesterday was easier my hunger is gone and I have made sure to get out the kitchen after cooking clean up is done.

MeMaof2byz reacted to karmaleeta in June 2022 surgery buddiesMy surgery date is June 2, and I’m on day 5 of the liver shrink diet. I kind of want to die, but I’ve lost 11 lbs! Can’t want for next week so I can stop eating plain oatmeal! -
MeMaof2byz reacted to SummerC in June 2022 surgery buddiesHi everyone! I finally got my GS surgery date - June 8th. I'm nervous but excited! I only need to do 2 days of clear liquid diet - thank goodness! My surgery will be done as an outpatient. Anyone else?

MeMaof2byz got a reaction from LilaNicole20 in 6/6 Pre Op Liquid DietToday is day one of my 2 week liquid diet. Just checking in to see how everyone is doing on their liquid diet if you are on it?
Are you using a Tracker to keep yourself accountable? If so which one? I am using Myfitnesspal, feel free to add me if you are using it as well pkweltz is my user name.
We got this!!!

MeMaof2byz reacted to Tufflaw in 6/6 Pre Op Liquid DietThe two week pre-op diet SUCKS but once you make it through that you're golden. Also it's much easier to follow the plan once you've gone two weeks eating nothing, just having half a scrambled egg feels like you're indulging yourself.
I also use Myfitnesspal, just make sure to keep up with it every day post-op.
-
MeMaof2byz reacted to Raw188 in 6/6 Pre Op Liquid DietI have surgery tomorrow. Two week liquid was rough at first, but got easier as I went along.
I did track mine with Baritastic, but I didn't really need to. My diet was 20oz skim milk, 3x day. Same each day, didn't really need to track. Just did it to keep in the habit.
Keep strong. You can do it.

MeMaof2byz reacted to Mariann812 in June SurgeriesI just got my surgery date and I am June 8 as well!
My pre-op testing has been done for weeks…I have to have a negative COVID test when I check in on 6/8.
I’m having RNY, a massive hiatal hernia repair (surgeon’s words not mine), and my gallbladder removed.
I’ve been doing the liver reduction in earnest for a week, I have lost 10 lbs and I will stay on it till surgery.
Good luck to you! 6/8 will be here in no time at all. ? -
MeMaof2byz reacted to MommaJo1969 in Bypass on June 6!!I'm super excited! Also super nervous. I've worked hard to get here and I'm really looking forward to the next leg of my journey. My pre-op appointments are on May 20th, I have a group pre-op counseling session on the 23rd, and a covid test on the June 4th right before my surgery. I'm more than ready to take my life back.
