Shrinkingvee got a reaction from sweetsmith78 in 1 year post-sleeve -- no regrets!Wow that’s amazing! You look great!
I’m one year out post sleeve on the 11 october 22 I’ve lost 94lbs and have only lost a pound a month for the last 3 months or so, I want to lose more though so I’m not accepting this is it.
I know I won’t be in the normal range ever but to be out of the obese range will be enough for me. I’d like to lose another 30lbs fingers crossed.
I’m grateful for my restriction, I do eat bad things occasionally but just a bite of my husbands not the whole thing that way I’m not restricting myself completely.
I walk 5 /6 days a week in the evenings, 5/7 miles.
I can eat more than the start now but still only a child’s plate size and I don’t eat all of that if that makes sense.
I do get frustrated that o don’t see losses that often now but even if I maintain I am grateful.

Shrinkingvee reacted to james2021 in 1 year post-sleeve -- no regrets!Just wanted to drop a note of encouragement to the folks who are considering surgery, pre-surgery, in the early recovery stages. I had VSG on May 20, 2021 and started out 355 lbs. In a year, I'm down to 237.2. Life is so much easier, I have so much more stamina, and I'm so glad I had surgery and didn't get cold feet. Once I was out of the recovery phase it has been amazing how normal life feels, even if it's a new normal. I am wishing you the best and keep at it! ❤️

Shrinkingvee got a reaction from EmDee02 in Any October 2021 Surgeries?I’m nearly 4 weeks on Monday out since the gastric sleeve, I spoke with my Bariatric nurse yesterday she said it’s very common around this time to stall and she explained when you were on a normal diet that you get stalls and don’t lose every week.
but it will start coming off again.
I haven’t lost anything in over a week but I also have my period and I normally put water weight on while I’m on it and so next week I’m probably going to start losing,
fingers crossed, so don’t worry about the stalls, they happen and it’s just your body trying to catch up with the little amounts of food and getting over the stress of the op.

Shrinkingvee got a reaction from terigetshealthy in Any October 2021 Surgeries? You are spot on with what you say, I’m 3 weeks post op and it’s been the toughest journey I’ve ever walked and I’ve been up and down throughout these 3 weeks.
it’s not easy.
I know it will get easier but I’ve been down every other day as apparently with fat loss your estrogen levels rise and that causes feeling down so that sucks.
Im still finding it hard to get my fluid intake in and in turn now today have a migraine probably due to dehydration.
im eating soft food and cracker crisp bread with a little cheese or chicken with avocado or yeast extract.
Ive gone off eggs, that’s a shame.
my sense of smell and taste seems so different, I don’t know if anyone else’s has changed?
I’ve lost a total of 17lbs since my op and lost 16 with pre op diet.
I feel like it’s slow this week like a quarter of a pound but I’ve been told there is a 3 week stall.
I’m really fed up with the down days.
Ive not gone back to work yet.
Took another week off.
Im really struggling today.
I’m sorry to be so negative but when I read your insert and though you are so right, people need to know complications can arise as issues and to know you will need support.

Shrinkingvee got a reaction from EsojLabina in Any October 2021 Surgeries?Hi there,
Aww I’m so sorry you are going through this.
I know after my surgery my blood pressure went up a bit for 2 days and I was told it was the effects of the Anaesthetic but my pulse was too low.
we all react differently to it.
I really hope you get sorted and the heart rate decreases.
you will get better with each day it is a day closer to the new you!
stay strong lady!
Gas pains are normal and suck but they will get better. I’m 3 weeks post op tomorrow and things have improved for me so much.
Mira hard to start but worth it in the end.
hang in there.

Shrinkingvee reacted to Prisci1608 in Any October 2021 Surgeries?I havent tried chicken yet! Been a bit scared honestly! I hope it sits well with me, so far I havent had issues keeping any type of foods down.
hope everything keeps going smooth for you as well ! & I’m sure soon you’ll be able to eat scrambled eggs without any issues!
thank you! I don’t have much of a support system on my end, so if you need anything, don’t hesitate to message me! We got this??♀️
-
Shrinkingvee reacted to Prisci1608 in Any October 2021 Surgeries?I’m in the US ! How about you?
I’m doing okay! I think I hit that 3 week stall everyone talks about! But I was recently cleared for eggs, tuna & flaky fishes! What stage they have you in?
-
Shrinkingvee got a reaction from TTK in Any October 2021 Surgeries?I’m ok now as not hormonal but I got irritated when I couldn’t do what I would normally do before a period.
I don’t regret it now.
my surgeon said that our hormones are out of whack when we have surgery because as we burn fat the hormones react differently?
I’ve been very emotional some days.
anyone that thinks this is an easy walk in the park are very mistaken.
you have to work for it.
I’ve lost 15lbs in 2 weeks and 3 days and before op I lost 16 pounds on the milk liver shrinking pre op diet so I can’t complain although everyone loses differently.
I think we all think sometimes it should be faster but losing this fast has never happened before and for that I’m grateful.I’ve been doing walks again finally I feel so much better other than pain on one side the incision where they take the stomach out.
I know every day will get better, change isn’t easy but it will be worth it.
-
Shrinkingvee got a reaction from TTK in Any October 2021 Surgeries?Hiya, I was the same the first few days to a week was very hard to get sips down and wasn’t drinking enough, I’m still not and I’m 2 and a half weeks post op.
my Bariactric nurse suggested soups in between meals to up my fluid intake.
we are supposed to have at least 1.8 pints a day, 1 litre, I’ve only managed it once but I’m trying.
mist a learning curve.
you will get there, it gets easier, my nurse actually told me to add no added sugar squash to make it easier to drink and it has seemed to work.
We are told to start soft foods like flaked fish etc after 3 weeks and now until then puréed food.
I get down about 1- 1 and a half table spoons worth of food but because I was due a period I struggled the last few days of actually feeling hungry although probably head hunger as when I’m hormonal I normally feel more hungry and eat more so that was a struggle.
I’ve not feeling sick but have suffered a lot with the runs and had to take Imodium.
im trying to eliminate what food it might be.
I was told to stop taking the Zoton as it can cause diarrhoea so got to wait until it’s out of my system.
I have recovered quite well as incisions are nearly healed and I’m able to sleep on 1 side now rather than on my back.
my stomach inside where they pulled my stomach out is the most painful but believe me day by day it does get better.
I was given 9 days to prepare for the gastric sleeve and I’ve found most support online, I really was walking in the dark with it.
I have PCOS and metabolic syndrome so needed to have this done.
I wish you a healing recovery and any help or questions you need to ask feel free to ask me.
we can help each other through this change.

Shrinkingvee reacted to red_hatorade in Any October 2021 Surgeries?Yes, I definitely want to get some more exercise in once I am able to eat more. Right now I struggle getting enough to eat and drink. I had my surgery at JourneyLight in Cincinnati, OH.

Shrinkingvee reacted to MegThrash in Any October 2021 Surgeries?Oh wow! They let you have food so soon! Maybe this is why I'm so hungry!
I received my surgery at the Univerisity of Kentucky Hospital. And yeah, I've been noticing everyone's pre/post-op diets are so different. My pre-op diet was only a week-long (clear liquids only) and I continue clears for a week post-op. Tomorrow I can do "full liquids" which is pretty much creamy soups for a week, then pureed foods for a week. From there it's soft foods, then adding in the rest by Week 6.
-
Shrinkingvee reacted to MegThrash in Any October 2021 Surgeries?I'm so jealous! I can't wait to eat again! Haha. Today is my last day on clears and tomorrow I'm good for full liquids. I know I can't eat any of it, but everyone's food has been smelling so good and making me miss eating ANYTHING. I'm very excited to have a little yogurt or oatmeal!
That incision (where they pull your stomach out) is the worst for me too! All the others seem to be fine. I don't even feel them anymore. I also had a hernia repair during the surgery, so internally I'm super sore. It's not as bad as I expected though. I had a c-section with my son, and I feel like that recovery was agonizing in comparison.
I have a post-op appointment tomorrow, so I'm going to mention some of your suggestions to see if I can try them too! All suggestions are definitely appreciated. We're in this together!
Meg xoxo

Shrinkingvee reacted to Arabesque in TMI everything I eat goes straight throughAdd some soluble fibre (look for non swelling ones) to your soups, shakes etc. it will help make things a bit ‘firmer’. I used Benefibre for months to boost my fibre intake & help with regularity.
-
C'est normal. I never peed more than when on the post-op liquid diet. It does get better.
-
Shrinkingvee reacted to learn2cook in TMI everything I eat goes straight throughI found if I was eating liquids I pooped liquids. As soon as I switched to the ground meat phase, there were no more surprises. -
Shrinkingvee reacted to elp93 in TMI everything I eat goes straight throughI was like that on liquids. Even still if I drink more than a cup of water without eating first in the morning it goes right through me -
Shrinkingvee reacted to vikingbeast in To up fluid intakeA dime is 19 mm in diameter, the closest British equivalents would be the 5p (18 mm) or 1p (20.3 mm).
-
Shrinkingvee reacted to OutdoorsGirl in To up fluid intakeMy instructions say pills smaller than a US dime coin will be okay. Not sure what’s about that size in the UK. Hope you feel better soon.
-
Shrinkingvee reacted to vikingbeast in To up fluid intakeMy surgeon (in the US) counted anything allowed on the liquid diet as liquid. So not only water but protein drinks, broth, soup base, sugar free jello (UK jelly), sugar free pudding, low carb yoghurt, &c. The goal was 80 oz. of liquid, not 80 oz. of water.
These days I usually drink 2 L of water in addition to what I eat/consume, which is about 67 oz. of water.

Shrinkingvee reacted to Sosewsue61 in To up fluid intakeYes it felt like drinking aquarium gravel for the first couple weeks. Bone broth, tea, and also sugar free popsicles.
