NH1 reacted to brittcarter91 in How come everything now tastes so salty!!I have had this too! I used to use quite a bit of salt and like salty things like pickles. Now I have an egg and put like, three grains of salt and I'm happy lol

NH1 got a reaction from Liz The New Me in SALMON HELL!!!Interesting!!! -
NH1 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in SALMON HELL!!!Interesting!!! -
NH1 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in SALMON HELL!!!Ooh perhaps?! Hmm I am starting to realise that things really are gonna have to be very different!! -
NH1 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in SALMON HELL!!!Ooops I postedin the wrong “zone” sorry!
I had VSG & I think by all accounts it went pretty well! I tolerate liquids, soups, smoothies, yogurts really well, I have a spoon of peanut butter for a bit of protein, & a spoon of cream cheese. All go down really well!
But jeez...30 min on & that salmon is sat there!! I think because I felt so well & normal I thought “I bet I can just tolerate normal stuff if I chew well...” BIG MISTAKE!! -
NH1 reacted to GradyCat in Flour tortillaSame here, soft tortillas do not agree with me yet at 3 months post-op
-
NH1 reacted to LC12 in Flour tortillaI think people react differently to different foods... I'm a month post op and for me, tortillas (flour or whole wheat) are one of the easiest things to eat. I ate roasted cauliflower the other day and it was like a BRICK in my stomach and I eventually had to throw it up like an hour after eating because it just would not digest. My nutritionist said whatever food I have a hard time eating, to try again in a week or two

NH1 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Flour tortillaFour weeks post op & I “tried” a flour tortilla. Ate a quarter & it went down a treat. Then got stuck. Harsh & very painful lesson. Hot sweats with the pain. It has just settled & I’m now left with terrible trapped wind.
LESSON LEARNT -
NH1 reacted to HappyRN in How come everything now tastes so salty!!Not sure if it will ever go away. It is embarrassing if you are eating with other people. My family just laughs now because they know I cant help it.

NH1 reacted to HappyRN in How come everything now tastes so salty!!In reply to the salty taste, I think it's part due to a more bland diet and maybe due to some dehydration. I have experienced to the same thing. It's not as bad now as I am 1 year out but it was definitely there. As for the air in the esophagus, I still get gurgling while I eat. I dont know if it's because my stomach is more of a tube than a pouch. I cant control it but it doesn't stop me from eating. Sometimes it happens after I eat too. It's not like a burp, it's just lose air that comes up.

NH1 reacted to Jenwill630 in How come everything now tastes so salty!!I am having the same issue.
I was never huge on using salt before, but now it is something else.
I used to love the chicken salad at my store. Now, I had to throw it out because it tasted way too salty. I had my son taste it to see if it was me....it was me. LOL

NH1 got a reaction from gabybab in How come everything now tastes so salty!!Agree with all of the above! I’m going to make soup from now on & only use half of my usual stock. I’m amazed at just how salty food really is!! -
NH1 reacted to sneezergirl in How come everything now tastes so salty!!Interesting experience. I hope that levels out for you. I'm scheduled for surgery on the 6th and have been concerned about these types of changes as well. Keep us posted on whether it improves or not.

NH1 reacted to Foxbins in SALMON HELL!!!I'm 8 years post-op and still can't eat salmon. Even with a sauce, it's too dense and too dry. I can't eat tuna either, same problem. Halibut, cod, and trout are no problem.
-
NH1 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in SALMON HELL!!!Ok so I’m 15 days post op & I’m pain free, tolerated liquid stage really well & puree is pretty good too.
Cut to today & I made the family salmon fillets. “Well this should be easy” I thought, it’s soft & mushes easily...so had two forks of salmon & chewed it to mush. Cue two minutes later sheer agony. I can feel it just sat at the top of my stomach...gurgling, painful & stuck.
YUK. That’ll teach me!!! Will I ever eat solid food again!!! -

NH1 reacted to Liz The New Me in SALMON HELL!!!I'm also wondering if it's just Salmon. I'm 5 months post op and was so looking forward to the grilled Salmon but I got so sick with only having 2 oz. I'm finding that the things I loved before are not agreeing with me now.

NH1 got a reaction from angie_is_losing_it in The dreaded gasOh the gas pain, the joyous gas pain. Had it not been for that I’m sure I’d have been completely pain free!
Walk, walk, walk,
Peppermint tea
Sleep slightly propped on pillows
GA slows gastric motility & bowel movements. I didn’t pass gas for three days...I was worried at first but it DOES return to normal.
I’m 11 days post op & could quite happily return to work tomorrow...but I’m not. Another seven days booked off so I’m going to start a steady bit of life laundry & clear out my house...
Good luck with it all. Soon it will be you giving advice to others. Xxx -
NH1 reacted to Goody222 in The dreaded gasWhat? 11 days and 21 pounds...that is awesome - congrats!

NH1 got a reaction from BlueIGT in Bypass today and this is excruciatingAll normal!!! Tiny sips burnt like HELL.
Gas pain was AGONY.
I was tearfull & full of regret.
Day 11 post op & I feel completely recovered!! Eating three small liquid meals & drinking plenty.
Take it easy on yourself you will recover beautifully if you give yourself no expectations other than to rest up & take things steady. -
NH1 reacted to Goody222 in The dreaded gasThank you for the advice and warning. I can’t wait to start giving others advice.
