My apt is Tuesday and I’m hoping to go to puréed foods. This would make two weeks of liquids post op. I’m HANGRY as well!!! I did have a few bites of leftover mashed taters and it was sooo good even cold. Had a couple bites of turkey dressing and made sure to chew a long time. I’m with you, and getting more and more hungry post op. Not sure I can keep drinking protein shakes!!!

I’m having this too, muscle pain just near my largest incision site. It’s the only place that’s really still sore at 10 days out. Then think I tried to turn in my sleep or something last night and made it worse. Argh!

Hi all. Three weeks out from being sleeved and I am having the worst pain this morning at one of my incision sites. I know it’s only three weeks but was hoping this would start to go away at this point. Did a lot of walking yesterday. Just woke up and in pain. Anyone else get the same thing?

So this may be obvious since I’m just shy of 3 weeks post up after the sleeve but want to make sure it’s nothing more. I’m having some muscle pains as I reach and move certain ways where my largest incision is. I want to say it’s just the muscle because I’m able and comfortable doing more and maybe I did to much too soon. Anyone have any experiences with this? I’ve done super well the past week so this feeling is kind of new. I have been taken some ibuprofen to take some of the pain away but it’s not unbearable.
    Thanks in advance!

Sip slower. Or maybe try a different temperature (warm broth vs. cold water)? I had the same thing for 4-5 days and then it got better. I can pretty much drink regularly now (my surgery was a week ago today). The gas pains lasted 3 days for me. Taking the mirolax they had me start day after surgery helped. Walking helped! Couldn't tell if the gas-x helped or not.
Hang in there! You can do this!!

Surgery scheduled at noon tomorrow. My dr only uses a 4 day diet prep, have lost about 5 lbs so far. Suppose everyone goes through second thoughts about what they are giving up. For me, it is my only choice so I’m plowing on. Let’s do this.

I spent my first four days post op forcing myself to drink, finally by day 7 I was drinking somewhat normally. Added shakes on day 8, and it takes me almost an hour and a half to choke down a full protein shake.

As for the mushroom soup recipe, there are a ton out there. The one I officially used was this one but modified. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/235589/chef-johns-creamy-mushroom-soup/ I used a generous amount of olive oil in the start instead of butter. The real trick is carmelizing the mushrooms-it took about 25 minutes to get to that point not 15. I used about 1/4 cup of Worcestershire instead of the heavy cream, and I used about 5 cups of chicken stock to get it to the right consistency.

I am 7 days post op. I have the exact same pain it was happening when i would sip. My nurse told me to try and take a fairly healthy mouthful of water and let it go down at once. By doing that I would swallow less air and have less pain. Not sure if i believe it, but it works for me. By savior is bouillon powder in warm water. I always feel much less weak when I get some sodium back in my system. The water alone really flushes the sodium, in my case. At 7 days i honestly feel that i almost have more energy then i did pre op. Its not fun, but keep it up.

Lots of walking. Did they give you an incentive spirometer? If so, use it! It really does help get those gasses out. A trick I found that worked well for both my WLS's, is to breathe in deeply until you can't, then "press into it" slightly, almost like doing a crunch, this increases the pressure in your abdominal cavity and helps force excess gasses out of the cavity.

I was sleeved yesterday morning (14th). Anything more than teeny tiny sips and I get a sharp chest pain. Hopefully it will get better as time passes and the swelling goes down?

Hope it went well for you this morning! 35lbs is awesome! Smurf did 2 weeks of 1200 calories, the last day liquids only, and lost 25lbs. It's SO tough! I admire you guys taking steps to take your lives back. It's such a good thing! Praying for a speedy recovery for you.

Thanks guys! This is Smurf's wife. They wheeled him back at 10 after 7 and he was discharged to come home before 11:45am! The doc said he did great!
He's got some upper back pain (he said it feels like he needs to crack his back, but can't), incisions are tender, and he can't stop belching, but otherwise he's good. I stuck some pictures out on his instagram (chunky2hunkysmurf ??)
For him to get discharged he had to walk twice down the long hallway, drink 8 - 2oz things of water, be able to pee, and have a pain level of less than 5 (out of 10). Be sure you bring a thin pillow to put between you and the seatbelt on the way home!

Hope your surgery goes well Smurf. Mine is at 10am this morning. Three weeks pre op diet of only shakes. I’m ready for this to be done and now onto the next phase. Already lost 35lbs since I started this whole process. Can’t wait for some soup and something not sweet.
