I told my 2 close friends at work what I was having done and my HR department knows, but other than that no one else knows what I had especially my direct supervisor because she does not know the meaning of the word confidential and I just don't feel that she needed to know. I know that my friend told a few people about the hernia part of the surgery to get them to leave her alone. But since I have been out this week the rumors started flying and my poor friend has been hearing them all because everyone is coming to her asking her. Apparently I had surgery to get pregnant with twins...lol. My friend sent out an email telling everyone off yesterday then called to tell me she did it and asked if I was mad. Please, I have more to worry about right now than you putting people in their place on my behalf
In retaliation for me not telling my boss what I was having done she went to the two bosses over her and instead of telling them that I was having to leave and make up time due to doctor's appointments and a few procedures I had to have done prior to the surgery, she told them that I have attendance issues. The had no clue that I was even having surgery until another supervisor was trying to get me moved into her department and the refused, because of my "attendance issues" and she told them what was going on.

This all stinks, I was prepared for a long fight, but it took less than a week for my approval. Sending out some good vibes for you guys!

I have one more injection to go, had a total of 10 to do at home. Definitely do them in your stomach, the medicine stings when it goes in, so if you pinch your skin up where you are injecting you don't feel it as much. The nurses gave me one in my arm and I requested they do them in my stomach because the arm hurt more to me anyway. Make sure you have the needle in all the way before you push the plunger to avoid really nasty looking huge bruises! I have 2 that are just awful, but they were from the nursing staff, I haven't given myself any visible bruises.

I think that we all go through a mourning phase, most of us have had very long affairs with food so in the beginning it's scary and pretty dang hard to imagine your life without that part of you. It's like going through a bad break up, it sucks, sucks more, then YOU have to learn to put yourself up and move on. For a little while I was pissed off at food, silly as it sounds, but the one thing that was always there for me was now "gone" and it was because of my relationship with food that I got to where I was pre-op.
I am 6 weeks out today and let me tell you all the head games that my food addiction has played on me have been hard and all the times I thought I am never going to eat again, I eat every single day, I do NOT feel deprived.
It's a radical change for us and I think the hardest part of this journey is all mental. You can do it, we all can!

A friend showed me her husband's ring that she got him for their anniversary, it was too big, but she didn't want to get it sized because she had it inscribed. So the jeweler put these too "balls" of gold (the ring is gold) on opposite sides of the inside of the ring and it keeps it on his finger perfectly and it didn't mess up the inscription.

I'm SO excited!!

I didn't have a number but I tried my best to get it to the top. I can say with 100% certainty that you need to use it and that it works to keep your lungs cleared out and functioning. I kept a pillow on my tummy when I used it because I always coughed with it, but had to to get my lungs cleared out.

Mine is set on 2000. I'm doing sets of 10 about once per hour.

Like Lissa stated, you should have been given a spirometer, you should be using it for breathing 10 times an hour or when watching TV 5 times every commercial break. My lungs almost collapsed due to this not being done, the hospital brought it in my room while I was still out of it after surgery and just set it on the side table but never went over using it with me. Even after I came home for 10 days my surgeon had me doing it.

I bought a pair of $5 skinny jeans in size 12 (Aussie which is about a 10 US) over the weekend as an item to grow into....maybe. well this morning I tried them on, just to see how close they were..and shock horror and happiness they fit, snug but wearable...yeha!!!!
This is probably the biggest victory to date. Pre surgery starting at a 26/28 my goal size was a 14. I never saw or wanted to be tiny, I like curves just in the right places not bulges like before...so I am happy to get here atleast on the bottom....my tops still are a 16/18 and my boobs may stop me ever getting to a 14 as they have not shrunk much at all.

I hit my first stall (3 weeks out) I am sad not to see those numbers dropping right now, BUT I am so thankful that my scale doesn't say 387 anymore that I can tough it out! It will move again soon!

Today I hopped on the scale and I've finally hit my 100lb. loss!!!!! I'm so freakin excited because I'm no longer in the 300's!! Yep. 299 baby. Lolol. I was so excited that I posted it on Facebook and the positive feedback I've gotten is amazing!!!! I feel fanfriggintastic right now.

I finally got my approval!!!!!I am so happy I can hardly contain myself. Cigna has had me jumping through hoops for the last 2 weeks. I have called them almost everyday to check on the status of my approval. They kept giving me the run around telling that "clinical" paperwork was missing which we faxed to them 5 times. Then yesterday I received a denial letter in the mail so I called my surgeons office first thing this morning. My insurance navigator called Cigna who confirmed that I was indeed approved and they do not know why that letter was sent in the first place. I am so relieved that all the insurance stress is over.

I am 3 weeks out, lost 21lbs since surgery my waist size in pants is the same (well its a little less, but not enough to drop a pants size yet) but I notice the weight I am losing is in my face, shoulders, and my upper legs for some reason. I had to prove the leg part to myself today by trying on a pair of Curves workout pants that I bought at a garage sale for a dime last year, they are an XL and the day before surgery I could only get them up to mid thigh, today they were all the way up

I had the sleeve surgery about a year and a half ago. At my highest I weighed 304 lbs and now I weigh 175 lbs with my goal weight being about 145 lbs. One of the main reasons I had surgery was so I could have a family of my own. Before surgery I hardly ever had a period. I was diagnosed at age 15 with PCOS. I was told by my OB-GYN that the chances of me getting pregnant were slim to none. Since about 3 months post-op I had a period and ovulated every month religiously!! Now I was told to be very careful because the chances of me getting pregnant were very good. I will be seeing my surgeon next week and I def want to ask him about getting pregnant! Its the most wonderful feeling knowing that a family will be in my future. Best of Luck!

Can feel the "old me" coming back and it feels amazing. Everyday I have more confidence than the day before. Family friends and coworkers are noticing my results and it is so rewarding! Im just in a really exciting place right now and I feel like I'm getting control of my life back. I am only 5 weeks post op do I know this is only the beginning but I'm down 26 pounds. 26 pounds that I will never see again!!!!! Being a sleevester was the best decision for me.

My hubby and I did P90 for a while about a year before surgery, it's intense and I was only doing modified versions of most of the stuff they did because I physically couldn't do it! I will one day though!

I want to be mad and say that is terrible to do to a child- there had to be better options. BUT as a fat kid growing up... being 170+ in the 7th grade..... I wish my mom would have gotten me the sleeve. I would have been so much more confident. I am literally in tears because I am so happy that they made this choice! Kudos to her family and the girl. Amazing!

One of my anesthesiologist pulled out the..."wow you have such an amazing face! People pay to have a lips like yours and your eyes, wow, just such a pretty face" I took is as a little humor from God and laughed, because I was talking to my husband on the way to the hospital that I can't wait to not hear that anymore, it's the ultimate insult to me anyway. lol

Reminds me of something similar. When I tell people how much I weigh, or weighed, and they say "you don't look that big." Like I wasn't big till they found out how much I weighed. Now I'm huge.
They think it's a compliment but really it's an insult. It's kinda like talking to someone on the phone, and then when you finally meet them in person and find out what they look like, saying "you don't sound that ugly."

No, it's because they have a corner of the market that so few will touch. We are limited in our selection so they can charge what they want, supply and demand.
