Heatherr got a reaction from 2notbwinded in How supportive is/was your spouse
I guess I'm in the minority here.
While we'll always have to be around food situations and make choices accordingly, I think it is inconsiderate for her husband to be eating fast food regularly in front of her. Of course the family doesn't have to change, but I just cannot fathom how people that love one another wouldn't try to be helpful and considerate of their loved one's feelings. Does the man really need fast food several nights per week?
I am here shaking my head wondering why many of you feel less worthy of certain respect. Here, let me put it into perspective from my point of view: If your child was recently diagnosed with diabetes, would you be eating ice cream in front of him/her several times a week while your child couldnt have any? Would you not change the family eating habits a little? Of course you would. Would you eat a hot fudge cake in front of your child for dessert while offering him a piece of fruit? Of course you wouldn't. What if your elderly parent came to visit for a long period of time, wouldn't you try to accommodate him/her with a comfortable place to sit, maybe a wheelchair ramp, foods they like? Of course you would. Would you be sloshing back the wine in front of your husband who just started attending AA meetings? I wouldn't dream of it. Sure, at some point he's going to have to be in social situations where alcohol is and be ok with it, and sure I'd still have my coveted glass of wine on occasion as appropriate, but I sure as heck wouldn't be bringing it into my home his first weeks in recovery. Why are we less worthy of the same mutual respect and care? ::shaking my head::
The difference is that the family still has to eat, I get it. But the family doesn't have to be gorging on decadent Desserts and bringing home trigger foods the first few weeks you are in recovery. Can they? Sure. I wouldn't do that to them if the situation were reversed because I LOVE them and want to support their recovery. Why don't I deserve the same love and respect? I do. And so do you all.
I've explained to my family that I may not be able to eat with them while I'm on the liquid diet for the 4th week in a row and that I may have to leave the room while they eat. I also explained that I will still be cooking their meals, but I also asked that if some night I just can't do it, would they mind fending for themselves. They are all supportive of it and just asked that I buy foods to keep in the fridge/freezer that are easy for them to prepare on their own.
Now having said all that, I don't believe I have a food addiction. I've been fine with the family eating fast food while I passed. I don't anticipate it being too difficult to deal with them eating when I can't unless the smell just makes me nauseous, which I anticipate immediately after surgery. I don't have a love of fast food or sweets and desserts. My trigger foods are savory foods and, yes, my feelings would be hurt and I would feel less loved if 2 weeks after surgery, while I'm on my 3rd week of liquids, my husband brought home scallops and made pan seared scallops served on spinach greens with a bacon vinaigrette dressing or made filet mignon with bernaise.

Huh? The uterus is what makes orgasms so great? I'm not sure this information is correct. Many women have amazing orgasms sans a uterus.

Perhaps this has already been suggested here (I've not read every post), but if you call the old dentist's corporate office, and threaten them with the words "insurance fraud" I'd be willing to bet it won't take 6 months for them to review, and pay, the refund to your insurance company. Better yet, if you have a friend who happens to be a lawyer, have them make that call.
Sorry for all your frustrations....I hope all turns out well for you!!

If they take payment for something that was not done, that's insurance fraud on their end. Your insurance company can just retract payment, even after the fact. I would be sure to take it up with the insurance. And then, perhaps an attorney. By the time you're done you can get uppers & lowers FREE.
Good luck to you on this and your sleeve. Prayers ~ well wishes ~ postive vibes.

Smile. It makes you look approachable. Make eye contact, smile and say hello. The rest usually works itself out, but initiate conversation with something simple like "Hello." It is THAT easy.
If you're out with friends and you see someone worth approaching, a good way to get his attention is to say loudly "Oh, that looks good," while you smile at him, "I'll have what he's having."
These simple things make you look approachable and open up the beginning dialogue.
^^^^just for ideas. HTH and have fun!

I don't want to upset anyone and I'm not saying this to be mean or anything, but I really think you're doing yourself and your body a disservice by giving yourself such large strict goals scale wise. I know that weight loss is increased with the sleeve, but it's hard to really predict how our bodies are going to react.
Even if you reach November and you haven't lost down to 200 pounds, it will not mean that you're not successful. I hope that you reach it too, but if you eat right and follow the plan your body will lose at a rate that is healthy for it, and that's far more important than reaching a specific weight goal. You don't want to starve your body, because in the end you will just be hurting yourself and killing your metabolism. Your body is not your enemy and you're stuck with it - treat it right. It sounds like you are super low on calories. Are you reaching your target Protein? Fluids? I would just focus on those and get in some movement and everything else will fall into place. You didn't put the weight on over a few months, it's not necessarily just going to fall off in a few months.
I am about 4 weeks or so out and I've been in a stall for 2 weeks. Our bodies stall, that's what they do. Don't be mad at it, don't cut your calories, just make sure you're following the plan. If you don't, you could end up actually making your stall worse. Our bodies are trained to go into a crisis mode when they are starved and want to hold everything in. Stalls are frustrating, but they're a part of life we just have to deal with.
Anyway, I don't know if you'll be 200 in November, but if you do the work and get healthy, I do believe that you will be successful, healthier, and happier in November.

^^^This is totally me, and maybe why it has been so effortless. I do stay away from simple carbs, but I have tasted things. Many sweets are too sweet for me now, but I never had a love affair with them before. If the kids have dessert, I may have a taste. I have had some fried foods, but again, not a meals worth. The only thing that has bothered my stomach was lobster bisque. I had that early post op and I'm thinking it was probably the fat content. It's likely made with cream and it was just too rich so early post after being on such a strict diet for the prior month. Also, dense raw veggies like radishes and carrots sit like a lead weight.

I'm 5'4'' and I know I can't possibly get to 130lbs (without starving myself).....I cannot imagine that at 5'7'', but we all have different body shapes. 130 would put me in a size 2. I'm 37yo and have had 5 children. There is no need for me to weigh 130lbs. I think I'd slap my doctor for suggesting it.
