pattivalvo reacted to Strivingforbetter in #2 after Loop DS
I was revised from the Lap-Band to the traditional DS on June 9, 2017, and so far I've lost 57 pounds. As long as I keep my calories to around 1100 a day and make protein a priority, I lose. So far, I haven't had a stall, although my weight loss has been slow at about 1.5 pounds a week. I know other DS patients have lost up to 3-4 pounds a week, but that hasn't been my story. You are only a few weeks post-op, so your body is getting used to all of the changes. Give it time. Log your food. Drink lots of water. The malabsorption component of the DS is very powerful, so I am confident in time your losing will pick up. I log my food on My Fitness Pal and it helps me to keep my eating in check.

I'd like to hear back from OP...
I hate feeling full! HATE it! Personally I think that your desire to feel full, rather than "not hungry" or disinterested in food may be a psychological issue... Do you? Have a big think about why you got surgery and butterthebean/other posters have provided some good advice about why physically you may not be full...
Oh and anyone care to talk in grams! Can't picture 4-8 oz

Hey Mike. As has been said, you will not feel the restriction's full effect until you start on full solid foods. Secondly, you don't want to feel full ever again. Eat till you're no longer hungry, not till you're full. If you do that you will be successful.

Drinking before the meal starts really shouldn't hurt. It's waiting to drink AFTER that is important. The liquids really do just go right through.

I was told the exact opposite from Weight wise bariatic center & my Surgeon . I was told to drink drink drink up until the first bite and then do not drink for another hour after my meal. If ur choice of food for a meal is first 2/3 protein and then if you still have room do a bote of vegetable there shouldn't be a problem. That's what I learned in my Post op Dietician class

WOW!! You ate 8oz's of tuna...the whole thing . Straight? As a salad?
I do not believe being Sleeved is a wait of time but I think you should give yourself time.
I agree with Nate maybe a scale is what is needed here. Weigh each item, eat slowly and CHEW, CHEW, CHEW before swallowing. That may help you feel fuller... longer.
Give it time. You could be rushing results way too soon.

Tuna is usually a 6 oz. can. Squeeze out the water and you have 3 oz., which is just about right.

My husband and I always has a good sex life (he's tall and thin) but after 26 years together our sex life is soooooooooo much more fun!!! We not only have more sex, better sex but we talk about it and laugh about it so much more now. No longer is the 800 lb Gorilla in the room.....my weight when it came to sex bothered him but he just didn't know how to tell me, until one day he just had a melt down....that was the beginning of my journey to surgery. I think that heavy partners often don't realize just how it affects their thinner partners....but you find out once you lose.....plus it's so much fun wearing beautiful underwear now! We both love it!
    Have fun everyone!

Oh my god.. I couldn't have waited 4 weeks lol. I just read a post this morning about how different thinner sex is for a man. Just letting you know, it's different for a woman too. From my biggest, I am 105 lbs down. From pre-op and surgery, I am 90 pounds. So when I remember how self conscious I was and all the fat bouncing and stuff, it's really... Gross.. LOL. There's nothing hotter than being told that your but bruised their groin... Just saying LOL. It gets better...

19 days & still have discomfort. Today's the 1st day I haven't felt the need to take my pain medicine, which has usually been late afternoon. I kinda felt like a sissy, but have read people are just different. Sometimes it's achy above my belly button, sometimes it's time a pulling where my incisions are. It was 2 weeks before either pain would allow me to sleep on my side. Now, in just doing Advil for soreness & try not to do too much.
