Psyched got a reaction from Sophie7713 in December 2018 Sleevers!Hey everyone!
I am so happy to see everyone's progress!! it's amazing. While I have been successful, I have had to battle through some severe stomach issues. I have been in and out of the hospital last month and this month due to stomach issues that I will know more about after my colonoscopy. This setback has taken an already strict lifestyle and added even more nuance to it. Right now we don't know if it's just severe diverticulitis, Crohn's disease or what. I had very substantial hemorrhaging of the colon, but thankfully they were able to stop it. So, right now is a wait and see and be careful type of thing. I have made further adjustments to my lifestyle to eliminate nuts, vegetables and fruit with seeds, I can't handle creams, dairy, etc. So.... it's interesting right now.
As far as the sleeve is concerned, I couldn't be happier! Down 81 pounds. i do have the dreaded loose skin, but *shrugs* I will give myself more time to tighten as best as I can and then from there I may get a little help with what's left, eventually not in the near future. It hasn't even been a year and I am not finished losing yet. I hope everyone is taking time to enjoy the journey. It's a wild one!
Oh, ? who has had people say, "You really don't need to lose any more weight." ? I have had countless people tell me you are going to start looking like you're sick if you lose another pound. These are people who aren't aware that I had surgery done. I also had someone tell me that my colon issues my be due to all of this healthy eating that I am doing and I may just need to eat regular since I have already lost so much weight. ? smh.

Psyched reacted to VSGDavid in December 2018 Sleevers!Yesterday marks the 6 month mark since surgery. I've lost 123 pounds since I started this journey. Some days are a challenge to remember to eat slow, that is still my biggest hang up. I've adjusted well to the eating changes, and have a much happier outlook on life.

Psyched reacted to Sophie7713 in December 2018 Sleevers! It is wonderful to read all your success stories and the mounting rewards as December 2018 sleevers! Wow.
My surgery was 12/17/2018 at NW Medical Center in Coral Springs, FL. I am currently three poundsaway from onederland!!! A total of 57 pounds from 258 start weight the first of December. Usually major consecutive holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas thru New Years in the past, meant a weight gain for me. I tried to use restraint, but all the rich, high calorie "specialty foods" of the season just continued the never ending weight battle + cycle resulting in feeling more discouraged and hopeless with each passing year. :[
BUT NOT THIS New Year of 2019! I love my sleeve and so glad to have begun a new, hopeful and promising track! Does anyone else feel the same? Refreshing, right? My blood pressure and blood tests all came back healthy - And, left injured, problematic knee is much improved. Bowels have stabilized andVitamin regime no longer causes nausea. I follow closely Dr. V and my nutritionist's recommendations for balanced nutrition with moderate exercise, at this 3 ½ month juncture.
Other aspects I am thrilled about is the ability to be satisfied with so much less volume of food. I really have not missed sugar, salt or fat laden recipes and Desserts. While I had made major changes in my diet losing 41 pounds (298 at highest point) before considering surgery last November, the sleeve just simplifies and propels me forward in getting to my healthy weight. I desire to drop another 40 pounds and feel the confidence I can now do so. Not to mention, keeping it off and maintaining a healthy weight via reduced stomach - Breaking the vicious cycle.
I have not seen the scale read under 200 pounds in over 23 years! That's a lot of baggage for this petite 5'0" frame and interior designer constantly on her feet. My clothes closet has been purged and taken to a quality consignment shoppe or Goodwill - Now shopping in regular departments for limited clothing in size large for tops and XL for slacks. Most of these sale items are quickly becoming too loose. So happyto no longer see 1X, 2X or 3X (at highest weight) on my clothing labels. Right? Excited for my size 10 and petite medium goal.
Really proud of all of us! Let's keep on sharing our victories and "all the nuances" of becoming our best physically and emotionally. None can truly appreciate nor understand this journey we embark... except for us. That makes us a pretty fabulous group of comrades. Happy spring everyone! ;]

Psyched reacted to SteveT74 in December 2018 Sleevers!Lolo, I know I am preaching to the converted, but you know when you loose a lot of weight quickly you inevitably loose muscle along with the fat. The only way to counter that is strength training. I know you have been working out a lot, but if you're finding that you're really losing a lot of upper body strength you may need to reallocate your gym time to strength training even if it means less time on cardio--although when strength training is done right, it's a cardio workout too.

Psyched reacted to Lolo 2020 in December 2018 Sleevers!Yup ur right . I started. Doing some dead lifts with a 30lb barbell and liftesnitnover my head for the last few days and now I can morenor less get my suitcase up ! Am adding upper body every day now and some different core such that I can do life’s tasks . So odd , but then again I haven’t been 180lbs since I graduated from high school and losing 60lbs in 3 months is quick

Psyched got a reaction from SteveT74 in December 2018 Sleevers!Hey Everyone!! So glad to see such great progress and happiness from everyone! Congrats to everyone on all of the awesome work.
I am in a GREAT place as well. I am very satisfied with my weight loss thus far. I don't weigh daily or even weekly sometimes. I don't want to turn psycho (and if you knew me you'd know that I analyze everything). I just want to continue to allow my body to do her thing. I have graduated from walking, to speed walking, to jogging ?! I am working to tone the flabbies of my triceps (that'll be a long road, so I am patient). Working with this stomach (I see a waistline coming through). I've purchased a few things for my home "gym" rope, medicine ball, etc. Days that I don't make it to the gym, I workout here at home. I am down from a size 16/18 to a size 10 in pants. I am down from a 16/18 in shirts to a medium. I am down as of right now a total 67 pounds. I figure I'll lose another 30-40 or so. Really happy with where I am and how I look.
On a personal side note... early on I was asked what is one simple thing that I am really looking forward to doing when I lose weight. Something that is just kind of taken for granted almost. Mine was crossing my legs without it feeling uncomfortable or even like I have to work hard to force them to stay crossed or crossing my ankles because crossing my legs was to uncomfortable. I am here to tell you all these legs stay on crossed!!! In the car my legs are what??? CROSSED! So easy, so carefree, so natural, so crossed! Lol!! It was really difficult in the beginning and I still have my moments even now with "hey I need a few more calories, hey I need to eat something, hey I haven't had enough liquid today etc.", but I would without a doubt, hesitation, or second thought make this same decision again. It is amazing.

Psyched reacted to SteveT74 in December 2018 Sleevers!Hey guys,
I haven't checked in for while. I hope everyone's doing well. I know I am doing great. I am sticking with the modified Keto and exercise routine. The scale hasn't moved much in the past six week--only down about 5 or 6 pound. However, during that time I lost: 1.5% of my body fat (down to 16.5%); 1.5 inches off my waist; inch off my chest (down to 42 from a 50) and a quarter inch off my neck (down to 16.5" from 18.5" in the fall). My pants size is now a 32, down from a 44 this past summer. I have gone from wearing XXL shirts to M slim fit shirts (sometimes large slim depending on the brand). At this point, I am not really sure how much more weight I am going to be losing. I am ok where I am. Aside from the number on the scale, all of my aesthetic goals have been met (or are very close to being met).
More importantly, I just had my 3 month follow up last week. My blood work looks great. My triglycerides are down to a 54 (they were over 450 last summer). My good cholesterol is up three fold to 96. My A1C's have dropped from a 6.3 (with 1000mg of MetFormin and 1.8mg of Victoza) in November to a 5.1 with no medications. As of now, all my nutrional numbers look good and are well within normal ranges, including vitamin D, B12, B6, Calcium, Iron etc. Of course, nutritional deficits can take a while to show up in blood work, so we'll see how they look again in three months.
So, far the only downside is that my once very thick hair is thinning a bit. Not loving that, but no one can really tell yet except me (hope it stays that way). I am taking my biotin, but not sure how much it really helps (can't hurt though). I would still trade lush hair for a slim body any day.
Anyway, here's a picture from this past weekend (3/23/19):

Psyched reacted to Brenttx in December 2018 Sleevers!Quick update! Had my 3 month check up with my surgeon yesterday and my appointment with my cardiologist last week. Blood work was awesome and I got taken off of one of my cholesterol pills and my vitamin D pills were reduced by over half from 5000 IU to 2000 IU.
Some quick stats:
Down 117 pounds total / 91 post surgery
BMI down 16 from 56 to 40
Inches Lost:
Neck - 1
Chest - 11
Waist - 7
Hips - 13
Crazy awesome ride. Hasn't always been easy or without it's hiccups but clearly one of the best decisions of my life! Just thought I'd share and nobody has posted on this thread in a while.

Psyched reacted to SteveT74 in December 2018 Sleevers!Hey guys, I celebrated my 45th birthday yesterday and, as a gift to myself, I hit onederland!!! 199.8 and today 199.1!! I love my sleeve!!!

Psyched reacted to Lolo 2020 in December 2018 Sleevers!Everyone’s journey is different but rest assured of and when u can do all the steps it will come off . I had the dreaded 3 week stall and then week 6 stall and finally at the end of week 7 the scale is moving again . I think our bodies sometimes need time to catch up . I also have started drinking lemon water as a diuretic and maybe I’m imagining it but the weight is coming off quicker . My nut told me that sometimes the fat leaves but the cells fills with water so the diuretic flushed it out .

Psyched reacted to Avery's Mom in December 2018 Sleevers!I only weigh in once a week, keeps me from obsessing! you can gain/lose up to 5-6 lbs of water daily so I don't sweat it. I am 8 weeks out and down 40 lbs. one third of the way to my goal. I am right there with you on that 'one bite too many' I can tell right away when it is too much. I have only really overaten once and it was stress/emotions related. gotta learn to conquer that!

Psyched reacted to SteveT74 in December 2018 Sleevers!I doubt the 4.5 pound weight gain had anything to do with adding puree/soft foods into your diet. Women's weight naturally fluctuates more then men's over the course of the month. If you're retaining water, you can be burning fat tissue, but it isn't going to show up on the scale. Daily weight fluctuations can be really frustrating, but you can't look at it as how much you gain or lose in any given day. You have to track trends over time--how you did in a week, month, two months etc. I know my rate of weight loss is leveling out and the days of of seeing 2 pounds loses overnight may be a thing of the past. That's ok!! If I losing an average of one to two pounds a week (average---not that you actually lose two pounds every week), I'll reach my goal weight sometime in 4 to 8 months from now . That is awesome and is more than I could have hoped for and expect from having this surgery. Even if it takes another year, I'll still be thrilled since I never imagined I could ever lose this much weight and feel this good again--plus I am off my T2DM meds which is just awesome.
