sylviau got a reaction from okiekatt in When Did They Notice?
i've lost 34 and most people haven't noticed... or at least haven't said anything. my hubby and my parents have noticed and a couple other friends. i notice because of my clothes being bigger and some clothes that didn't fit, now fit. i think the more you have to lose, the less you notice until its a lot. i'm not going to lie, its a little disappointing when you haven't seen friends in a few weeks, and they dont say anything when they see you... but, eh, what are you gonna do? eventually they'll notice meanwhile, our job is to lose lose lose lol

sylviau got a reaction from okiekatt in Little Victories That Make Me Love My Band!
my name is sylvia... and i love my band! lol
i was banded 7-2-12... so about 6 weeks ago i'm down 38 pounds (that includes pre-op and post-op)... and here are a few little victories that make me smile and love my band...
1- people that dont know about the band have FINALLY commented about how 'great' i'm looking and how i've lost weight. (i had been a little down lately because i felt like no one noticed!)
2- i'm fitting into clothes that haven't work in YEARS! pants that i love and kept in hopes of one day fitting into them... i can FIT INTO THEM!!!!!!!!!! one in particular that made me happy was a paid of tommy hilfiger trouser jeans that i LOVED. and when my now husband and i started dating about 3 years ago, i wore these pairs like once or twice and he loved them and asked me to wear them more cause he liked how they looked on me. well... they were already a little tight and getting tighter (as i gained more) and were too uncomfortable to wear! SO i always had some excuse as to why i didn't wear them (i wasn't about to tell a guy i just started dating that my pants were too small! LOL and , yes, eventually i told him they were too small! and by the time i was banded, i couldn't even get them UP to my waist... much less close them!) so last night i go and try these and other pair of pants on and they all close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mind you, they are a little tight, but they CLOSE. and in another month or so... they will fit well!!
3- i'm learning to eat to live... not live to eat! i still love food and appreciate it... but its not an obssession (usually). i have been able to say no to certain things and to learn to stop when i'm full and be ok with giving part of my food over to my husband because i'm getting full. (i may or may not have growled/scowled at anyone trying to share my precious food in the past) love it!
4- my husband sees me walking around with pants that are now huge on me and calls me 'thin' (who, ME?!)
anyway just wanted to share these because i'm so excited!
what are you're little victories that make you love your band?!

sylviau got a reaction from Angelizz10 in Fill Question....
banded 7/2/12 and apparently had about 2.5cc at surgery time (didnt even know lol) and two weeks ago i got another 1.5cc so i have about 4cc now. i feel the restriction, but i can still eat more than i should. but it keeps me full for several hours. i have my second fill today. she said it would be about 0.5, but i'm going to try to convince her to give me 1cc. because i think that will give me good restriction.
as for people not noticing... i know exactly how you feel!! i've lost 38 and only people that know about the surgery have commented. i was sooooooo discouraged when no one commented. and it wasn''t until this week that two coworkers commented on the weightloss. it was encouraging. but.... when no one had commented... i had to remind myself that a lot of people dont want to say anything because they feel a little wierd saying "hey, you're losing weight" because they might feel a little ackward bout it... lilke they're saying 'you're fat' by saying you're losing. know what i mean? my best friend told me her BF noticed i'd lost weight but told HER about it... not me. so i'm sure people are noticing, but some are just a little wierd about saying anything. so dont let that discourage you... just be encouraged as you see clothes fitting big!!
    keep up the great work!

    BUT.....
you can totally do it! i learned sooooo much during that month on liquids. first, that i could do it. you feel a sense of accomplishment when you achieve it. i learned that i was addicted to food and its helped me to better deal with temptations now, post op. so hang in there... the first few days are the hardest. day 4 was the worst for me... i even CRIED. i hated it. but was strong and it got easier! if i could do those 4 weeks of liquids without cheating, ANYONE can do it... i've never lasted on a diet longer than a week... so there you go!
YOU GUYS CAN DO IT!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (thats me in my cheerleader mode!) lol!!!

sylviau got a reaction from TriciaLN in One Week Post-Op!
i'm almost 3 weeks post op and i had liquids for the first two weeks (and two weeks before that for pre-op) so i can tell you that by that last week i was so over liquids!! around this time is when your swelling is going down, so you start to get your hunger back. i went to my dr one week later and was hoping he'd put me on soft foods early, but they explained that they just want to make sure the stitches inside... where the band is stiched up, heal up completely and properly... thus keeping me on liquids. so just think that its for the best and to avoid problems in the long run! just plan ahead what you will have and when you finally have soft foods, it will be super special! you can make it... just... one... more.... week.... !
