BigDreamer2021 reacted to RickM in ClaimsLet the surgeon's office handle it, as it was their judgement that you needed to be there an additional day. That happens all the time - there are minor complications, or the patient isn't quite ready to be discharged so they are kept an additional day. I was only scheduled to be there one day but it turned into two; my wife had an outpatient orthopedic surgery but was kept overnight as she wasn't ready to be discharged on the original schedule. The insurance works it out with the doctors.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to ShoppGirl in Feeling discouraged! If you are a lower BMI that’s normal. I am averaging about 2-3 pounds a week as well. I agree that you shouldn’t pay too much attention to your weight right now though.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to catwoman7 in Feeling discouraged!all of the above posters are correct. With hospital weight gain, it's from the IV fluids. Some people come back from the hospital 10 lbs heavier than when they went in. It can take a week or so for it to work its way out of your system.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to dennydenco in Feeling discouraged!I came home from the hospital a little heavier than when I went in and thought, “Oh no!”. Now, a few days later, I’m exiting a lot of fluid and the scale is showing movement a little bit. I agree with the more experienced folks here that it’s better to stay off the scale for a couple of weeks.....but I admit I just can’t help myself. I decided not to be too concerned what my weight does for the first few weeks. There’s a lot of adjustment going on. Right now, I believe it’s best to work on doing stage 2 well, build good habits, and start being active when my body can handle it. Starting slowly now.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to Lizzy33 in Feeling discouraged!Weigh once a week. It’s a bigger jump and gives you incentive for the next week.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to bufbills in Feeling discouraged!Yea. It took me 4 or 5 days to lose my hospital weight. Way to early to tell how it will go.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to BigSue in Feeling discouraged!Your surgery was 4 days ago. Stay off the scale for a couple of weeks -- it's meaningless right now. A lot of people come home from the hospital heavier than they went in because of all the fluids they pump into you. Right now, you need to focus on your recovery (getting enough fluids and protein), not your weight. If you stick to your plan, you will lose weight.

BigDreamer2021 reacted to Jnfinney in Feeling discouraged!Updating your stats would help some of us. If you are taller and/or weren't extremely overweight to begin with, then you won't lose super quickly. People who lose a lot are close to the 500-600 lb range to begin with. I started around 235 and 2 lbs a week for me is really good. Don't be discouraged. I know there are some veterans on this forum who lost slow and steadily for a long time and met/exceeded their goals. You'll get there ?

BigDreamer2021 reacted to Just Jess77 in April surgeriesLiterally joined here 30 seconds ago.. my surgery is 27th April UK. My 10 day liquid diet started yesterday.. I did not realise how much "water" I would loose so quick.. last night I went to toilet 3 times in half hour..
-
BigDreamer2021 reacted to Sassygirldej in April surgeriesThe purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink the liver so they can get in there to do what they have to do. If I were in your place, I think I would do it for the week before, just to make sure. My surgeon only requires 1 week of protein drinks but at least it's only week. GL

BigDreamer2021 reacted to KHolmes in April surgeriesSo my surgery was the 12th. It went well but it took longer than expected as my lapband didn't want to come out. I had to stay overnight at the hospital. My surgery didn't start till almost 4pm. I have 3 weeks of liquids ahead of me. Looking forward to new adventures!
