Hi, I am 49 yrs old and mother to a 11 yr old girl and 9 yr old boy. I work full time in Nursing Informatics, I am a Girl Scout Leader, religous education teacher and wife, daughter, sister, sister in law, auntie and friend. It is the usual story -- I have been heavy all my life, tried many diets, succeeded with several but always the weight came back on. I feel like I eat right but too much. It has become a coping mechanism with me. An emotional eater.
I have been thinking about surgery for a long time. I think my husband always thought I was joking and then one day in June I spoke to my FNP and made an appt to go to an introduction meeting. I am now 5 days from surgery -- Oct. 22nd.
I have not told many people. I tend to be an introvert and do not want to attract more attention to myself then I need to. My family is supportive but nervous for me and not sure what to make of my decision.
I am looking to have a place to talk about this journey with others that have or are going thru the same process. Ready to move foward and make new friends.
