Dr. Samer Mattar, Medical Director of IU Health Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss, completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and he received additional special training in advanced laparoscopy as a clinical fellow and clinical instructor on the Endo-Surgery unit at Emory University Hospital. He received his medical degree from Cairo University. Dr. Mattar is board certified in surgery and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.
