Jamokay P. Taylor, MD, FACS

Dr. Jamokay Taylor is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Barix Clinics. Dr. Taylor has 16 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 58 of our members have Dr. Taylor listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Jamokay Taylor is a native of Washington D.C. He attended the University of Maryland where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences in 1995. He then matriculated into the University of Maryland School of Medicine, receiving his medical degree in 1999. He then moved to Michigan for his general surgical residency at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident between 2003-2004. Dr. Taylor became interested in bariatric surgery while a Chief Resident, after witnessing the significant, positive impact that bariatric surgery had on the lives of patients. Dr. Taylor now serves as the Medical Director of the Warrenton Weight Loss Institute, a health care provider for Barix Clinics. Dr. Taylor is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of a number of professional organizations including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, American College of Surgeons (Fellow), American Board of Surgery (Diplomat), Michigan Bariatric Society, American Medical Association, Michigan Medical Society, Wayne County Medical Society and the Wayne State Surgical Society. Dr. Taylor has also been featured in the July 2011 Newsweek Magazine among 15 national leaders in bariatric surgery.
