Director of Bariatric Surgery, St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Craig L. Floch is the senior partner and founder of Floch Surgical Associates and Fairfield County Bariatrics. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in psychology. He received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School, University of Health Sciences. He completed his five-year surgical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University Hospital under the training of Dr. Jeffery Ponsky. He was chief resident of surgery at Case Western Reserve University Hospital and obtained postdoctoral training in Laparoscopic Skills and Anti-Reflux Procedures at Yale University in 1997. He has received extensive postgraduate course training in advanced laparoscopic bariatric, reoperative bariatric, colonic, hernia and ventral hernia surgery. Dr. Floch has been trained and proctored in Laparoscopic Gastric Banding by the Allergan Company and performs both the Lap-Band and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgeries.He is the Director of Bariatric Surgery at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport and an attending and trauma surgeon at Norwalk Hospital. Dr. Floch has been an instructor in the Yale University/Norwalk Hospital Surgical P.A. teaching program and received the Malcolm S. Beinfield Award for Teaching Excellence in the Yale/Norwalk Surgical P.A. teaching program for the years 1996, 1998, 2001 and 2003. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, The Society of American Gastroendoscopic Surgeons, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He obtained the award of Center of Excellence for Fairfield County Bariatrics in September 2006. Dr. Craig Floch achieved the ranking of surgeon of Center of Excellence by The Surgical Review Corporation/ American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. As surgeon and assistant surgeon, Dr. Craig Floch has been present in the operating room for the most cases. Together with his partners, they have performed over 3000 bariatric operations. Dr. Floch is featured in the Consumers Guide to Top Doctors as one of the 2009 Best Physicians as chosen by their peers. Dr. Floch has been designated as a TOP DOC by Connecticut magazine. Over 5,000 questionnaires were sent to doctors through out Connecticut. They were asked to recommend doctors that they would seek to provide care for them and their loved ones. Dr. Floch was selected to be part of this elite group.
