Timothy Ehrlich, M.D.

Trumboll, Connecticut 6385
203-880-5000
Info
Dr. Timothy Ehrlich is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Griffin Hospital. Dr. Ehrlich has 19 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 39 of our members have Dr. Ehrlich listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Timothy Ehrlich moved to Westport, Connecticut, seven years ago after a 20-year stint in south Louisiana, mostly in New Orleans. After growing up in the suburbs of New York City, his family relocated to South Louisiana, where he developed a love of crawfish and music. Dr. Ehrlich graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he served in the Student Government Association and achieved numerous other honors. He did all of his medical training, including his General Surgical training, at LSUMC New Orleans and the now defunct Charity Hospital (due to the ravages of Hurricane Katrina). As a Chief Resident, Dr. Ehrlich had the privilege of serving as Chief Teaching Resident. After residency, he moved to the New Orleans suburbs with his wife and dog and practiced General, Vascular, and Thoracic surgery for 5 years. In 2003, he had the opportunity to relocate back to the Northeast, specifically lower Fairfield County, Connecticut, where he began practicing bariatrics in Connecticut. Dr. Ehrlich was appointed Director of Bariatric Surgery at St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he served as Director until 2010. In early 2010 Dr. Ehrlich left Fairfield County Bariatrics to open Ehrlich Bariatrics, based out of Trumbull, Connecticut. He now serves as Director of Bariatric Surgery at Griffin Hospital. Dr. Ehrlich has tailored his practice to almost 100% Bariatrics because of his love of not only the technical aspects of the procedure, but also the overwhelming positive experience he has encountered working with bariatric patients. He has performed over 1,800 bariatric procedures, including Roux-n-Y gastric bypass, LAP-BAND® adjustable gastric banding surgery, and revisional weight loss surgeries. Dr. Ehrlich is certified by the American Board of Surgeons (ABS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is also a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and The Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Recently, Dr. Ehrlich has had the honor to serve on The Council for Advancement in Bariatrics (CAB), a think tank of LAP-BAND® surgeons nationally. And he has helped train other bariatric surgeons and fellows through a multitude of courses. Dr. Ehrlich is also currently involved in numerous clinical research trials.
