William Steely, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. William Steely is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Gateway Medical Center. Dr. Steely has 16 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 19 of our members have Dr. Steely listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Steely completed Medical School at University of Louisville, Kentucky and his General Surgery Residency at Eisenhower Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. His residency training included full Bariatric Training as Eisenhower was the Bariatric Center for the South Eastern United States for the military. He is Board Certified in Surgery and a member of the American College of Surgeons and a Member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Steely established a Bariatric Program at Fort Campbell, Kentucky upon completion of his residency in 1987. That program continues today as trained surgeons are assigned to Ft. Campbell. Bariatrics has been part of Dr. Steely's private practice since he established the Bariatric Program at Gateway Medical Center in 1991. The hospital was called Clarksville Memorial at that time. His program has grown and expanded as Weight Loss Surgery has become widely accepted as the only successful method of long term weight control for the morbidly obese population. Dr Steely has performed over a 1000 Bariatric surgeries to include Laparoscopic and Open Gastric Bypass, Revisional surgery and Lap Band, which is the least invasive Weight Loss Surgeries. He is Board Certified in Surgery and a member of the American College of Surgeons and a Member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
