Kenneth Hollis, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Kenneth Hollis is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC. Dr. Hollis has 40 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 275 of our members have Dr. Hollis listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Throughout his career, this doctor has been solidly focused on nutritional concepts of all types, from aggressive nutrtional support in critical illness, the complicated treatment of deficiency states, weight gain in severe malnutrition, fitness and bodybuilding optimization, and, of course, weight loss, both medical and surgical. At present, medical and surgical weight loss (the art and science called "Bariatrics"), occupies his entire professional life. Dr Hollis didn't start doing laparoscopic Bariatric surgery, however, until 2006, when finally the stigma and fear of this specialty had declined, and the conduct and outcomes had evolved into the safe and respected field we now know. He attributes the incredible progress made in Bariatric Surgery to be a prime example of advanced technology combined with enhanced training, certification, credentialling, and quality monitoring of surgeons performing these rather complex operations in higher-than-normal risk patients. He exclusively performed LapBands for the first few years, logging several thousand operations without a single serious complication, before he began doing gastric sleeve resections in 2009. Then, in 2012, after a continued complication free experience, he resumed doing laparoscopic gastric bypasses in order to offer a more comprehensive and objective program to his patients.. Dr Hollis is totally commited to the "human approach" in his care of this epidemic disease, and says "it's the best job in the world!"
