Dr. Robert Davis is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. Dr. Davis has 19 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 27 of our members have Dr. Davis listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.
As head of The Davis Clinic, the premier surgical and non-surgical weight management program in the country, Dr. Robert Davis specializes in laparoscopic bariatric and general surgery. He and his son, Dr. Garth Davis, have performed over 2,500 bariatric procedures since 2002, and their expertise in the field of bariatrics is world-renowned. Dr. Davis attended the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and graduated in 1963. He pursued his post-graduate education in London and Edinburgh in Great Britain, New York, Galveston and Houston, and was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1973 and recertified in 1987, 1997, and 2007. In addition, Dr. Davis has written many scientific papers and made presentations at numerous scientific and medical meeting. He is a member of numerous medical and surgical societies, and has been awarded certificates by the American Medical Association for continuing education. Dr. Davis is a past Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and is Past-Deputy Chief of the Department of Surgery at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS), and is a member in good standing of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the International Federal for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO). Dr. Davis is also the Past-Chairman of the Bariatric Surgery Committee at The Methodist Hospital.
