Dr. Gary Korus is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Korus has 19 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 22 of our members have Dr. Korus listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.
Dr. Korus is the director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and assistant professor of surgery, division of gastrointestinal surgery at Penn Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2004 after completing a fellowship in gastrointestinal surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, he completed his surgical residency at the University of Rochester. Dr. Korus specializes in general and gastrointestinal surgery with an emphasis on laparoscopic bariatric surgery including gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band and sleeve gastrectomy. In addition, he has a clinical interest in diseases of the esophagus and stomach and in the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has been instrumental in developing a multidisciplinary team approach to the surgical treatment of obesity at Penn Presbyterian. Dr. Korus is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been locally recognized in "Philadelphia" magazine's 2008 and 2009 Top Docs issues.
