Not a word about exercise, she was the psychologist for the bariatric program. All she said is that I have to show that I can lose some weight before the surgery. We never even discussed exercizee

For me I'm an incomplete quadriplegic C4-C7 I may not be able to walk 5000 steps on a daily basis but I can walk 300ft with crutches without getting tired and I also try to convert it like they tell me too. 1000 steps is 15mins. So I do other things, I think it that shows the initiative that yes this patient is trying...yeah she's not reaching 5000 but is constantly aiming at all even if it's 2000 or 3000. I'm not looking for her sympathy I just want her to be realistic. I researched or tried to find someone in a wheelchair that had surgery, I only found 1. Thank God she documented her before and after, she was a complete paraplegic. So like I stated earlier, what if there was someone else that wanted to surgery that was in a wheelchair, and feeling hopeless...what would they do? Yes movement is key, it's the fact on how long you can actively move continuously continuously at a rate the you can't achieve?

Your welcome, do you have a Water Infuser? There are big pitcher ones for the fridge and cute portable ones.

My nutritionist also told me I was allowed to drink it. It still has sugar, just not as much as the regular. Powerade Zero is awesome! No sugar and great flavors. I also go to Wal-Mart and buy sugar-free juice packets...there's a bunch of varieties. I personally love the hawaiian punch and crush flavors. Oh and costco has this drink that is similar to Vitamin Water and sugar-free also

Prevalent, I agree, but truly unfortunate. This is going to be a mini rant, but not at you, blizair09.

Its "professionals" like that who set students AND patients up for failure. I almost quit my pre-surgery classes because I, as a fellow adult professional, couldn't tolerate being "bup-bup-bup"ed and told "just follow the plan" any time I asked for clarification or explanation.

If you're a professional, you really need to learn to treat your clients with a baseline of respect. If they lose your respect? Fine.

Its especially unforgivable in the medical profession where that kind of arrogance costs (mainly) women their lives every day.

    Grr!

I had an issue with my NUT who did not believe that I was walking 5-7 miles per day pre surgery. It would go something like this?
NUT: What are you doing for exercise?
Me: Walking 5-7 miles per day.
Nut: ***Side Eye, look me up and down,*** "mmmmmhmmmm"
Me: I mean not like at one time, but I walk a mile at least 3 times per day at work then 1-2 miles when I get home, not to mention my in between walking just to get from one place to the next.
Nut: ***Side Eye, look me up and down,*** "mmmmmhmmmm"
Me: I can let you look at my fitbit stats, if you like.
Nut: ***Side Eye, look me up and down,*** "that's not necessary"
Me: are you sure, I don't mind.
    Nut: What's your diet like?
Me: I eat 1200 cal per day, modified Keto, except on Saturdays when I eat what I want, but still keep it under 1200 cal per day.
Nut: ***Side Eye, look me up and down,*** "mmmmmhmmmm"
It was exhausting. My psych eval was stupid, pointless and literally was a check yes or no list.

It's really pissing me off because I got cleared by both dietician and bariatrician, I just needed the ok from the psychologist. Ever since I started the program I haven't gained a pound and have lost every visit. I've increased my activity by a great deal yet, it feels like she makes it seem as if it's no effort. I exercise for 45mins and I'm very independent, so I clean, cook, etc. while standing. Anyways she's saying that ppl who get the surgery are encouraged to exercise up to 2hrs and 1/2....Has anyone else been told this?

2.5 hrs is new to me. Did you know this psych before your surgery?
Mine didn't get into exercise or anything, focused more on my reasons for eating (hunger, mainly), reason I want to lose weight (health, mainly), etc. but she's been my shrink for over 5 years.
    Perhaps a second opinion? O

I personally told people that were going to be supportive. Why would I tell someone that's just going to be a negative Nancy and throw things in my face and preach hypocritical things. I made sure the main ones knew, and the rest that I felt that were going to be negative stay out of it. I learnt the first time when I got my accident...who's going to support you and who wants to see you fail. Because sadly friends and family at times love you, but they also love it when you fail, so they can feel better about themselves. So I'm doing this surgery for me and not them....I want my life to prosper and be healthier!

You're right and I agree with you 100% because I have seen it on IG, I've followed someone who promoted herself as losing weight the old fashioned way and is insanely popular but she boasted that it was all changing her lifestyle through the natural way. She posted a pic of her tummy and someone pointed out "hey did you have surgery? She had no choice and responded yes I had gastric bypass" I think these people are giving others false hope. If you wanna be a fitness guru, then be honest about it, because yes your inspiring but in a false way. Like you said promoting for tea or it works wraps, when you know damn well that's not helped you. I'm not a secretive person, I just don't like to surround myself with bitter, negative people that have nothing better to do than talk about "ohhh so and so was as big as cow, but look at her now, it must be the drugs" I've been around negative Nancy's most of my life and I gotta admit being away from them is blissful. They'll always creep up but, that's not priority. I have a IG for personal and WLS, do I plan on exploiting myself for a profit honestly "hell no" I've watched and researched about ppl in wheelchairs doing WLS and could only find 1, so I was pretty stumped and I know that there are others that are looking for help and not getting it. Thank you for responding back, I see that you're very active and speak your mind! We need more people like you [emoji5]

Not wanting to tell your co-workers or your nosy sister in law is not the same as selling It Works Wraps and claiming your weight loss is because of the wraps. One is lying and deception and the other is personal privacy issue.
People are acting like by not telling you are advertising yourself as a personal trainer and a fitness guru.

It's not about keeping it a secret or lying to people! I think peoples main concern is the outcome, especially if you get negative feedback. No-one is being fake or trying to sell themselves as something we're not. Everyone on here hears the same thing whether it be physician or loved ones, you need to lose weight or you'll die or have other health problems. Then when you seek for help and it's something that will help you, some people are against it. "Oh that's cheating, the easy way out, or etc" and what does that do to your mind, it MESSES IT UP! I for one have suffered with weight on and off and have a bone disease. I always hear you need to lose weight or why don't you go on a diet, not knowing that yes I've tried lots of diets, exercising and other things. But my situation changed when I became a quadriplegic. So some of you can say "yeah I don't care what people think and all that" but we're not the same as you! You're lucky you have the confident and personality you have. But please don't try to makes us feel as if we are lying to the world....aren't we all on here looking for advice?
