I guess the best answer is to call your doctor.

I think it is all about progressing slowly so that you naturally progress into regular food and make sure your band can handle it. For example mushies to not quite mushy to not mushy at all. Not from mushie to completely solid. I don't think I would eat steak though for a while.

I can't wait until I am at your spot! I just started my creamy Soups, yogurt, etc. I am on this until probably the 9th when I see my doctor next. Then I suspect I will start more mushies. One day at a time is all we can do! :blushing:

My 3rd week diet consists of: Soups, Jello, pudding, sherbert, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, oatmeal, ricotta and cottage cheese...so basically all mushies!

Sorry I wish had better things to tell you lol. I'm just a couple days behind you.

It all depends on what your doc. says. I can tell mine is way more aggressive with going through the phases, which scares me some, but I'm following his phases.

I was on Clear Liquids for 2 days post op, then full liquids for the remainder of the week (which included cream of wheat/jello/pudding) and then pureed for only three days and then on to mushies.

My doc has me on mushies for 2 weeks. I find that scrambled eggs and refried Beans with melted ff cheddar cheese are two food choices that keep me full the longest. I usually have just one egg and when I have the Beans I eat 1/2c. w/ 1/4 c. of shredded ff cheddar cheese melted into it.

on my fourth week post-op I am to do soft foods for 1 wk and then I can progress to regular foods on week 5.

But like everyone else said, you should probably check with your doc.

Wow, I didn't realize how different some doctors are. My 3rd week post-op I was allowed to introduce solids into my diet. I was on Protein shakes for 1 week post op, then soft/mushies for the 2nd week, then 3rd week was intro to solids.

I'm in my 4th week now and have been eating what the rest of my family eats for dinner. Usually fish, chicken, or turkey, with a starch (rice, potatoes, beans) and a veggie (beets, green Beans, mixed, broccoli etc.) I haven't had any problems with anything so far, other than if something is dry. Then it just feels slightly uncomfortable.

In my mushies/soft phase, I lived on Fritattas. It was an easy way I could get veggies and Protein (cheese, eggs, meats) in a complete source. I even made sweet Fritattas with splenda and canned fruit.

Best of luck to you all, just remember to transition slowly, and chew chew chew!

Hello! I am new to this so please bare with me. I just had my surgery on 08/27/09 and the thought of broth is just not happening! I have gone to several different websites including my doctor's and everything seems so vague. How soon did you guys introduce new food? I would really like to enjoy some oatmeal, yogurt and eggs!

Hi Alley74

I am having liquidfied(in my blender) cream Soups for lunch and dinner. Campbell has 98% fat free cream of Mushroom, brocolli, potato, celery and chicken. It's definitely better than broth.

For Breakfast I have Cream of Wheat, Malt-oMeal or chocolate MaltoMeal(I put 1 cup Water and only 2 TSP of meal, so its runnier). I also have Dannon Drinkable yogurt(no chunks). If I want a snack, I've had fat free, sugar free fudgesicle, popsicle or dreamsicle.

Between meals, starting one hour after to one hour before the next meal I sip Water, tea, coffee, low cal non-carbonated drinks.

I'm on this till the 11th. Then I get mushies.

I hope this helps.

Good Journey

Maggie

I am 18 days post-op and am beginning to introduce solids; I am eating slowly and chewing well, and I have had no issues at all.

Some things I have eaten are grain toast; silverside; mashed potato; Pasta.< /span>

I got mine on 8/24 so I am in my 3rd week. My doc wanted me on basically clear for the 1st 2+ weeks. I saw him yesterday and he OK'ed fuller liquids so I can finally have some Tomato Soup, etc. But then he doesn't see need for much transition time on mushies. Once I hit week 4 I'll have a day or two at most and I can start on real food.

I will be taking it slow just for my own peace of mind. I think I'm doing well (no indigestion, no throwing up at all, nice weight loss) so I don't want to screw it up.

OK I am gonna ask a question within this one..are you all doing Protein Shakes for 2 meals and then a "meal" of mushies? I was just put on mushies this week (banded 8/19). my dr. is very cautious.. so he does 2-3 weeks of shakes then start mushies. I was curious because i am not getting filled until 8/22 and i have gained 3 lbs since tues, when he put me on mushies....Ugh

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
