Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Recommended Posts

Hey bunnies, I had my surgery on the 15th and everything went smoothly. I stayed in the hospital for one night. The port site is painful and I am experiencing a bit of nausea, but other than that all is well!

Hey Hopeful - I'm 5'7" too and I chose 150. I figure I'm medium build and was 164 about 6 1/2 years ago and felt I would have looked better at 150. Seems we have similar numbers and hopefully equally as good results. Best of luck!

Very well said...I myself have been on a life rollercoaster and decided it was time to take charge and do something about it. I am a self-pay patient who has lost in my estimate around 350 lbs in my life and gained them all back. It will take me a long time to pay for the surgery, but it is really an incentive to stay the course and get healthier. My sister had surgery 10 days before I did where she lives and so we are in this together.

I'm glad I found lapbandtalk and that so many of us can share our experiences. It's nice to know where not on our own.

Thanks emjay! Fun to see we have similar numbers!

Are any of you having some major pain when you bend over top pick stuff off the floor? I have some serious pain in the muscle right by the port. I hope nothing is seriously wrong. I wear my binder at home, but not at work. Just curious...

Yep. I had the same pain the first week. My port is on my left side, and I was OK to bend over on my right side, but very painful on my left. It's been two weeks and it's gotten much easier. My surgeon said that the port was attached to the muscle right there, so it is expected to have more pain on that side.

Came through my LapBand surgery on Thursday. Stayed overnight and got home late yesterday afternoon.

I managed about 20grm of Protein yesterday. Today, I'm eating/drinking about 10 grms of protein every 3hours or so. I'm filled my 32oz drink cup and I'm sipping it. I on full liquids, so anything I consume goes towards my daily 64oz Fluid intake.

I slept in my bed last night, propped up on a combination of sofa and sleep pillows. I did manage to sleep on my right side too.

I used a med pump while in the hospital. Pain come and goes, but I don't like the way I feel when I take the pain meds (liquid hydromorphene).

I can't drive for a week, so I will use the week to rest and heal. I am moving around and walking. I find that I get uncomfortable if I sit or stand for too long, so I alternate between the two.

Hope all of this weeks Bandsters are doing well.

Blessings!

I just want you all to know that I would not have gone through with this had I not found this web site. Because all of you had such good luck with your surgery I gave the final yes to this.

Thanks Kaner! That's reassuring to hear you've had the same pain and that there's a good reason for it.

My next appt is on Tuesday. I am interested to see what my doctor and dietician will say. I have zero restriction so I'm looking forward to getting a fill already.

Hello. Had my lapband on Thursday morning. Pretty much laid in recliner all day, getting up to walk around and do breathing. Friday was a little rough--a little gas, but mostly pain around the port area. I did take pain medication throughout the day and evening. Today, saturday was better. I walked outside for about 30 minutes, and even did a little shopping to get out of the house. Looking forward to tomorrow even being better. I haven't weighed, I need to go some scales. I have only been able to get down about 2 Protein Shakes a day, along with Water and tea.

I have a question that I need help with. I did go to tickerfactory.com and downloaded with my information and thought it was all set up and saved my new signature. Now today, it is gone, like I never did it. Any advice? I see almost all of you with the weight scale going and I would like chart mine also. Thanks.

Hi all! I was banded on 4/15 and I feel I'm doing great. I stayed overnight in the hospital and felt great. The drive home (hour and a half) was unbearable...nausea...I made it home and crawled into bed. Since then the pain has subsided by about 20% / day. I'm feeling better and better! I have the dermabond glue on my incisions...I dread when it starts to flake off...ITCH, ITCH!

I have not yet weighed this morning, but expect that I'll be in ONEDERLAND....FINALLY!!! It's been a long time coming! I'm so greatful now that I lost 32 lbs pre-op! Today (Sunday) will be day 4 of Clear Liquids. Can't wait for a Protein Shake and a yogurt tomorrow!!

I'm so happy to see everyone posting GOOD NEWS!!! I'm so happy that I found this site. I find myself lurking around for answers (ie: the gas problem...good to know I'm not alone!!)

Good luck to everyone who is having surgery this week. You'll find that being on this site is very informative. I find that I was WELL informed about pain at the port site, gas etc...only by being on here....my doc didn't tell me about that stuff!

Have a great day everyone!

Kelly

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
