Pull you off? Hell I'd just perch next to ya!!!

It has been a royal PITA to access the site lately.

Hope everyone is well.

Told some of you over on FB, we had bored HS kids decide to build themselves a fire on our back property....and the winds were kicking up. So ended up with the fire dept. and police here yesterday.

Today Rick called and has a guy bringing several loads of fertilizer (aka manure!!!) to spread up there on Monday. We have a play area up there, with horseshoe pits, tetherball pole, net for badmitten/volleyball. All of it is down of course, but there is also a big area we use for a garden and a shady area under the BIG tree we just have garden furniture in during the summer. It is bare up there in the winter....and the fertilizer will help the soil, be all gone before we begin using it again, and will hopefully keep them away----it will reek for a few days anyway, and anytime it gets wet for awhile. The only one who is up there regularly is the neighbor-- he has chickens up on his part. He said he wanted to talk to the guys about bringing some to his garden area as well. Hope they don't just deal with the smell and gather it to burn!! Rick did hook me up a hose to the city Water supply just in case!

I filed reports with everyone I could over it!!! I didn't do this crap when I was a kid, my kids never got in trouble for this kind of stuff, and I would have beat them senseless!! It is frustrating me, because I have seen the kids, they are well dressed and well groomed, they have nice backpacks....and nasty mouths! And there was a pipette up there, so they are smoking more than cigarettes, and I do not want that on my property!

OK enough ranting!

Rick is working on his Moms car this afternoon, then tonight I bought him tickets to a motocross event. Tomorrow we have a softball practice game at noon, then our Grandsons 3rd birthday at 4. And on Monday we are going to Albuquerque to get a welder Rick needs. So taking a few now to catch up!!!

Will do some drive by posting. Have a friend waiting for a new grandbaby---have to check on that!!

Everyone have a safe and fun weekend!!!

HUGS!!

Me too! I miss everyone not coming here, I've been doing it for so many years.

I'm just checking in too! Sorry I have been so quiet on here. I think I just needed a break from LB. The LB process has consumed me this year and I had hoped for a better outcome. Not giving up, but I needed a break from thinking about it. Back to reality....

OK Y'all have had enough time to get your r&r from lbt, so now get your butts back here.

I just got home from grocery shopping, lots of good veggies, and fruits. I have to get my butt in gear and back on track. I just keep eating and drinking all the wrong stuff and I have gained and it's one place I don't want to go back to.

I sure wish I could do some walking again. I was doing so good when I could walk and get some exercise in.

It has been cold and rainy here all week. I think we are going to go up to Harley though and walk around. They are having a St. Pat's party. And of course I will have a few of the free beers.

I can't buy anything since our wages/hours have been cut so it is just window shopping and people watching.

What is everyone else doing?

Have to s-q-u-e-e-z-e into some of the clothes that fit good last time! ugh. My son's wedding is mid May, maybe....hopefully.....got to!!!! Just got to get back on track!

I'd sure like to see everyone back in here too! Yooooo-Hoooo! where are y'all?

Hola everyone!

I'm baaaack too. Party's over. (sort of). I have a few commitments through Wednesday that will make being really good an impossibility, but then on Thursday its back to shakes and salads I think just to jumpstart things.

Hey there Betty! How're things going for ya? I keep coming in here and seeing the same few posts. I miss how active it used to be.

And hello to Trish, Pat, Sherry, Kat, and all the other sweeties that I havn't talked to lately! LOL!

Well, like I said earlier, I really screwed-up...gained weight, not following the rules! Now it's time to pay the piper...I have to go on vacation (beach, gulf of mexico) with all this extra weight! Nobody to blame but me.

Well be there from the 28th til april 7 (work on april 8 *yuck!*)

Gotta run, DH's calling for some assistance, lol!

Hi Everyone

Just checking out the updates on thread. I have to say I know how harley and sign girl feel. I have also gained weight. I was doing so well and then I couldn't eat and was throwing up. It's funny when I can't eat I gain weight. I guess partly because I'm eating the wrong foods, but I still don't get it.

I also don't get why all of a sudden things go south. Like why I started throwig up to begin with. Any ideas appreciated.

Hey folks I'm still alive. This is actually the first update notification I've received in a long time. Lots of stress in my end of the world so I haven't bothered posting anywhere really. :huh2: I just keep saying "this too shall pass" hoping it gets me through to the next week. I haven't gained since surgery but, I haven't lost much either. I did get a fill in February...I have the bigger band now so he gave me about 5cc's. I can feel some restriction somedays and others I don't feel it. However....unfortunately...UGH....with all the stress I think I'm holding in the heartburn is starting :) I haven't been woken up with that drowning feeling but, I am occassionally waking up to heart burn and coughing  So another fill is out of the question for me. I think I'm coming to the conclusion...I've lost what I can and now I need to get this extra skin cut off and learn to like the "extra" padding I still have....just not sure I"m ready for the knife again though.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
