Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Hope you all have fun! I have been to the parade and no going to swim at my sisters and then to the fireworks tonight!

Long: I got clearance to swim after my first week post op.

I think my doc is a little more agressive than some!

Get those bikes ready and pull the old confidence out of the bag and put those swimsuits on and enjoy life! It is going to get better and better!

For the first time in years I am looking so much to the future. It has gotten so much better in one month with my 37 lbs gone and I can't imagine when I lose the rest. I already have more energy, less knee pain (though that is still quite limiting) and my outlook for the future is so much brighter. Before I was seeing myself going down the same path as my mom Healthwise and now I am on no medications (other than Vitamins, Calcium and Biotin since the surgery), and I am trying on clothes I wouldn't have worn before (read that as in not black or navy). Just think next summer, we'll be at or close to goal possibly!! Heck, think of Christmas!! I know I will put clothes on my list for Santa!!

Not much to update on here...day #4 of recovery (5 if you count surgery day). It's 4th of July and I am going over to a friends house for a gathering and BBQ...looking forward to it and dreading i all the same. I'm not hungry but I'd love to chew on something delicious!! Suck on a cracker...anything!! I'm growing weary of Protein shakes and cream of wheat...too hot for soup!! But I know it's temporary and that after next week, the joy will be moving on to the mushy stage and oh how I am looking forward to eggs and tuna (not together of course!!). Am hoping that the mushy stage will allow me to test out sushi as well and that makes me happy...I miss my sushi!!!! Back to work on Monday...a week off to recovery seems sufficient. By the time I hit my 6 weeks for a fill, it will be time for my hubby and I to fly off to Europe - am thinking of foregoing the first fill until I return in early Sept. just to avoid any issues while being so far away. All in all, life is good. Really looking forward to being a few more weeks down the line when I can really assess just what I've gotten myself in to!!!????!!!

Happy 4th of July to all!! ~ Tai

I'm consuming anywhere from 900-1200 calories a day. I log all my food on dailyplate.com

I just discovered this website as well. www.thedailyplate.com It is a great way to track the nutritional value in everything you eat. I was doing it manually, but this is a better way!

I was banded on June 10th. I'm down about 22 lbs and am thrilled. The scale hasn't moved for a week though and I think I'm just adjusting to a more varied soft diet. I'm hovering right around 1200 calories per day. I could easily eat more, but I am trying to be very mindful of my actions. Not easy though!

It's been great reading everyone's posts. This is a great way to bond with fellow bandsters on the same timeframe as each other. Thanks to all for keeping it going. I hope we all continue updating and sharing successes!

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on this thread. Cathy, thank you for thinking about doing this! I am doing really well. Was banded on June 5th but don't have a fill appt until July 23rd. Most of the time I am not hungry, but when it is time to eat, I can really eat too much!! When I burp, I stop...but I can still eat too much. I am working on correcting that.

Exercise has become my big goal. I am committed to 6 days a week. I have only been cleared for the treadmill right now. I hope I can get in the Water by next week, so I can do my Water aerobics class. I am only up to 1.5 miles on the treadmill, 35 minutes and a pace of 2.5 mph. I will be pushing that up - but exercise is hard for me. However, I know I must do it to be successful.

In Nevada our Walk from Obesity is on Sept 27th, so there are several of us on this board that will be participating in that. You can check out your own state at WalkFromObesity.com.

Thanks everyone for posting. This is the first thread I read now. I think I will find lots of lessons learned here. Also, I appreciate hearing about the fill experiences. I am terrified to have one, but I also NEED one!

Hope everyone had a very Happy 4th of July!

Trish I'm exactly the same!!

Lost 19lb easily but for the last week nothing. I'm on between 1100 and 1200 calories a day. I know I'm being very good by not overdoing it but thinking about food constantly.

Luckily I've got my fist fill next friday.....then at least I won't be able to overeat. I feel the old food ways calling me and it's hard to resist

Hey Everyone!

Hope your day was good. I had a fun one, I ran around with my sister today, it was fun.

I am doing good with this last fill.

If you are worried about the fill or think your band is not going to work, :biggrin2:just wait until you begin getting fills. This first one has helped some, but I am going to get another a week from Wed on the 16th.:biggrin2:

Just try to start on the regular foods and keep the calories down, you will get the fills and it will begin to click!

Stay positive and focus! :biggrin:Love you guys!

Oh, BTW, I have called it quits with the old BF again!

But doing well with it!

Going back to work tomorrow after having last week off for recovery from my 6/30 surgery. Really looking forward to getting back into a routine!! Will meet w/ my surgeon on Tue. for my week follow up and hopefully find that everything is healing according to schedule.

Kinda worried a little bit because they took a liver biopsy during my surgery but I haven't a clue why. Guess I won't find out any news until Tuesday...but it does have me a little worried. Obviously something didn't look right for them to bother with it. I knew I had one gall stone but he told me my gall bladder looked fine and that unless I experienced any symptoms that I didn't have to have it removed. But what's up with the liver??

I'm beginning to notice my hunger pangs a little more clearly but nothing earth shattering. Trying to keep up w/ the liquids but find that if I drink too fast I get a slight pain in my left shoulder.

Hoping to get clearance to go back to the gym - that will help make me feel a bit more human. Other than that, life is good!! As I've said before, I'm really looking forward to being a few more weeks out and able to get a real feel for what I've gotten myself in to

Hope all is well with everyone...Take care ~ Tai

Tai,

My doctor does a liver biopsy with every banding or bypass surgery. But I am glad they told me that up front. I can imagine that you have been quite worried.

I have an aching tummy since yesterday. Feels like acid burn.

It started right after 'relations' that put pressure on my stomach. I am really worried I hurt myself, or we should I say. I just really don't want to call the doctor and explain that one!

I did get sick on Saturday, coffee on an empty stomach and I'd drank wine the night before. Surely one incident of vomiting won't hurt.

Argh I just feel like I can't recover with the way my life is. I have to pick my son up and put him in his car seat, laundry doesn't do itself. I wish I could have taken another week.

Feel like crying right now. Probably another side effect. Because I won't take all my pills at once I have been forgetting my anti-depressant here and there. Also my little guy cried on and off last night so we were up a lot trying to sooth him. He is normally a perfect sleeper so only fusses when something is wrong.

This morning he must have been tired too and held onto my leg and cried when I tried to leave him at daycare. Had my first 'wanting to stress eat' moment with the stress of trying to get out of the house / being exhausted. I just want to go home and crawl under the duvet, glad I didn't wear mascara today. I can't though - lots going on at work and am trying to negotiate a raise even though there is a wage freeze so need to be here.

Part of the reason I had the surgery was so it would be safer and less high risk to have more children but jeez I can't even handle the one I got.

OK off to close my office door and have a bit of a boohoo.

Morning:

Grey: Now is not the time to forget your anti-depressants!

Right now your life is in a fog from surgery and all the changes! Hang in there, it will get better! :tt1: Try to imagine yourself in a few months, thinner and more fit! :biggrin2: It is going to happen! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! I hope your tummy feels better soon!

To everyone! Soon everyone will be on whole foods again and man, does that ever make a difference!

I have had my 1st fill and it also helps! I am down 2 more lbs and the BMI is under 40! :tt1: I am only 10lbs from Onederland! :tt1:

Hi kids!!!!!!!! Just came across this thread. I am only at my computer on Mondays so I am a little behind the times. (I live at the lake during the summer...come home Mondays to do bookwork, laundry, etc.).

Sound like everyone is doing fantastic. Thanks, Cathy, for starting this thread and being such a great motivator for everyone.

I will be three weeks post surgery tomorrow. Things are great. I have been on solids for a week and it's going great. It's amazing how I know when my last bite is. Hunger is under control but know I will need a fill when my dr. allows it at six weeks post-op.

Weight loss is in the normal range from what I have read with everyone else. About 17lbs since surgery. It's amazing to try on clothes that I tried on a week ago that were tight around the belly and today they fit. Things like that keep a person motivated. I know I have said this b/4 but my outlook on life is just so much more positive. As Longtobethin said above....she always felt she was taking the same route her mother took. I felt the same way. I felt like I was spinning out of control and that I would be the lady in the store riding around on the motorized cart when I was in my late fifties.

I would do this all over in a heartbeat. I wake up smiling and I go to bed content with how things are going and look forward to a bright future with doing things I haven't done in the last 13 years. LIFE IS GOOD.

Will check in again with my Jazzy June friends next week at the same time. Hope everybody has a successful week. All this is so easy. I feel like I have been released from the food Prison! Take care!

Whoo hoo yeah for getting your stitches removed!! My husband and I are going to London for a few days, and then to Devon/Tiverton for a few days (attending a wedding blessing) and then traveling to the Netherlands for 3 days in Amsterdam :tt1:!!! I am so excited...but overwhelmed at the same time!! I am attending an all day orientation for grad school on 8/23 and then flying off to London on 8/25...yikes!!!

August is a month full of things going on...adding turning 40 to the mix on 8/17!!!

Grey, Sure hope you are feeling better. Everyone is entitled to a pity party once in a while; God knows I have had a few! lol But when you are done, jump back on the horse and get going again. Its gotta be tough with a child to take care of. Sounds like you have it tough at work too. Glad you can shut the door and get away from it when you need to. I can't, they would just knock or call me:crying: Keep taking your meds and be nice to yourself. You have been through a lot and its normal to have ups and downs.

Hey October Surgery friends...how are you doing? I've lost 15 lbs since surgery on 18th.42 lbs overall. Wearing clothes that feel great. Had a bout of cold and stomach flu and still having some nausea off and on after that but getting better, I think.
Seems like I fill up and have minor pain quicker when I eat hot foods rather than cold. Anyone else notice this?
Still sooo glad I did this.

I had surgery Oct 29. Lost 35#. Plateau now. But seeing what clothes fit now is encouraging.
