I'm with it! I'm working out 5-6 days a week. I informally joined up with the 500 miles on the treadmill group when it started up in Jan. In fact, I set up a little program using that idea with some friends and family members and I am giving the cash prizes when they get to 500 miles! I am just over 200 miles right now, myself! So, I'm pretty pleased with it! Last week, I joined the Jillian Michaels workout line just to shake up my routine a bit! I love it when people talk in the exercise threads, but it seems that it's not as active as the other sites! HMMM? We need to shake that up!!!

The miles sound cool...but I am at the beginners stage...I think doing the miles would make me feel overwhelmed so I am just concentrating on the time instead...

Well, I'lm going to miss you all this month. My plastic surgery is tomorrow and I just wanted to wish everyone a good March. Hopefully, I'll be joing you again in April or May. I wanted to lose 20 pounds and only made 10, but I really feel like this group helped me. I loved posting the weekly results. I hope you guys keep it up. Check out my progress on my thread in the Cosmetic Surgery section. I'll be updating how everything is going. I'm really freaking out today, but I know it's all going to be all right. Well tomorrow I'll be surgery around 6 hours, so I guess I'll be doing my own mini-marathon. LOL! See you soon.

Here's an interesting article I found it's called The Couch-to-5K Running Plan. It gets you started slowly and brings you to running 3 miles in a matter of 2 months. Check it out :angry:

Jess-I decided to post over here instead of the Feb thread. Thanks for the great words of encouragement. I am seeing lots of results. After almost 3 wks of plateauing, I have lost about 10 lbs in the past two weeks.:thumbup:

Now, for my workout today. I'm working the late day shift, so I got both in this morning:

Upper body: 40 minutes of strength

Cardio: elliptical for 100 minutes/8.14 miles/1712 calories.

Little run down as I am still fighting the last vestiges (I hope) of this darn flu bug, but I made it.

Keep up all the great work everyone! Spring is almost here:thumbup:

And, WHERE IS STEF? :angry: We miss you!

Karey~ My thoughts are with you as you go through this tranformation!!! I am excited for you!! I will try to keep checking up on you!! I know you'll do great!!

Ceraded~ If your doing that great and still just getting over the sickness that is awesome!

Where is whosyadaddy and stef ? I miss you both!!

I hit the gym Saturday, and did my zumba thing!! Then I worked out all my muscles and abs....Needless to say it kicked my butt, all over again.

I know I must not be working hard enough at home.. It's monday now, and my goal is to tuck kids in bed tonight and hit the gym for zumba and cardio on the elliptical tonight..I am thinking I may take my dog for a walk at one of the high schools this afternoon...I am so stressed with school, I figure I need to get some exercise. I know it will make me feel better. The weather is awesome today! Bright Sunny skies, and in the 50's..It makes me so happy to see this weather...I will enjoy it as tomorrow back into the 30's. Tomorrow is my fill day...I am happy about that..I know I need one..I am down one pound this week so that made me happy...But boy I am so close to 100 lbs off I can taste it!! Okay well I hope everyone has a great workout week!!!!

Okay, I finally get a moment to check in, and everyone moved away and didn't leave a forwarding address for me! BUT I FOUND YOU! LOL :thumbup:

I'm still around, just don't have much time at all to post. I got with GOOGLE and figured out what the problem is with the spreadsheet, so that will corrected in the next few days. Hubby is home, so I am spending most of my time with him while I can. Also, being a new moderator takes some time, too...so I just can't post as much. I will be back in full force when hubby goes back to work, though.

I'm still working out every day as usual, except for last Friday, when hubby and I went golfing. Had a blast! I never thought I would like chasing that little white ball around! But I completely and thoroughly SUCK at it, so it is a real ego thing for me right now...I could have thrown my clubs in the Water countless times! LOL

I WILL GET GOOD AT IT! :cursing:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I MISS Y'ALL! :angry:
P.S. KAREY - Good luck girl! You will do great! Just because you aren't exercising doesn't mean you can't check in with us! We still want to hear from you! You'll be in my prayers for an excellent procedure and speedy recovery.
      So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.
        It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.
      I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?
        I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.
      How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?
      1. NickelChip
        Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight
        I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.
      2. Clueless_girl
        I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..
      Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
      I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
      I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.
      Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
      For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
      For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
      Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
      Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
      It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
