I am getting frustrated with the slowness of loss.

I had the sleeve on 16th of Jan, and initially lost 4-5 kg very quickly, then the last two weeks, I have lost only 1.7kg, (3.5 lbs) I know it can happen, that the body can retain Water and it’s not reflecting the loss. I am just venting my frustration.

I tried eating more 800-1000 cals last week, nothing, exactly the same weight for 6 days, then a minuscule 100gm loss.

It's been frustrating!

DaisyChainOz, keep your chin up! You know you've got this! Sooner or later we'll encounter obstacles. Fight the good fight, and hang in there - you'll be off the plateau and on your way again. Cheering you on!

Regarding the preop diet and dizziness, yeah , its your liver kicking in , good stuff, persevere.

Ive been forcibly reminded that post op , I need to stay on liquids only for a whole month, so back on milk and broth for me :)

Each of us seems to have a different answer to that issue depending on who is helping us.

Regarding liquids post op, try adding some lemon to the Water (in the UK , Robinsons zero cal Lemon cordial) it really helped me.

Have you had the op or are you waiting?

I had mine 2 weeks ago tomorrow.

Trying to adjust in a world that throws TV adverts for food at you non stop.

Yes, that is a big challenge! On top of that, my hubby likes to cook, so he watches lots of cooking shows. Fortunately we have 2 TV's in the house, so I don't have to watch cooking shows, but you're right -- it's hard to find even a half-hour show of any type without several food commercials 😵💫

I’m having mine today so hopefully not too long to wait. What did you have done if you don’t mind me asking.

Gastric Sleeve, with a hernia fixed while he was in there, as I seemed to have climbed into my own oesophagus :)

the hernia fix means that I have more to repair and a VERY small food pipe.

When I woke up - the pain cleared up relatively fast and honestly - it wont hurt after that - you have made the right choice. By the end of the day, you will feel better and ready to start seeing your scales again without fear.

oh, and watch out for the UK catering teams, they dont care that you have had a sleeve and will offer you the wrong food. make sure post op that you have Water and milk until your are ready to make valid choices for yourself.

I told my surgeon about meals as they had me eating Soup with shredded chicken and tiny bits of carrots all they said it’s ok if your tolerance is ok. Just as well it was and I didn’t get any problems but I must admit it’s left me quite confused now and what I’m able to eat 3 weeks later x

Debbie Jayne, tell us how you're doing!

I’m doing ok didn’t have any problems after apart from low oxygen levels but I kept telling them that was my normal but insisted I stayed in for 4 days. I am not hitting my Fluid levels I don’t think I’m almost on my fourth week and I just stuck with what I’m should be eating or how much .

Hey guys! I also had my op (MGB) on 27/01/2025. I think for me, now 3 weeks po I’m doing ok. My tolerance appears to differ day to day. I’m not hitting my Fluid levels either. I guess it’s all a learning curve isn’t it and I’m struggling with the not eating and drinking at the same time which isn’t really helping.

Well, January Buddies, sounds like we all have our individual struggles. I'm just over 2 weeks post-op and I'm trying really hard to get all that liquid in too 😵💫 What helps me is to remember that this is a marathon - not a sprint. We're in it for the long haul. And I just keep working to overcome the struggles, and have discovered that doing that strengthens my resolve to keep working at it! Kind of like a mind game. Hope this help you too.

Very true. My biggest obstacle is my own impatience. I want to hurry up and get to real food, being so sick of Protein Shakes. I just started my soft phase, so thankfully I can now have eggs, Beans, white fish, cooked vegetables.

I just keep looking ahead to everything I will be able to do once some more weight comes off. I have also just booked a Mexican Riviera cruise for January 2026 to Celebrate the new me and my new life one year from my surgery. No more "rewarding" myself with unhealthy food choices, and instead I'll be rewarding myself with things that focus on my self-care. Like taking a cruise I'll be going by myself, but it's not the first time. I'm very excited. 😊

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞
