The doctor didn't give me any pre op diet yet. emoji53.png I am worried that I'm not doing things right. I will send him a message to make sure things are right. Maybe it's because I lost 20 lbs on my own since June??? Maybe I'm overthinking things too....

How are you doing??

Scared but excited.

Not every doctor requires a preop diet. mine also doesnt. You can check just to be sure though, I did as well. They just told me to stay away from fatty foods the week before and no carbonated beverages. I also notice you are a lower BMI like myself, and its pretty common for lower BMIs. Generally you dont have the same issues with fatty liver as someone higher and thus no need to do the liver shrinking diet.- this is how it was explained to me.

I am so over this preop... So, I am october third, and i have 4 week preop on Optifast.

This is literally driving me batty. I never obsessively weighed like I do now.

I was given weekly goals I have to hit, weigh ins every weds.

I weigh in tomorow, and the scale hasn't moved since Saturday at 261 and I am supposed to be 258 tomorow afternoon.

I literally have followed this preop to an absolute T and I don't know what I have done wrong.. Or how to lose three pounds overnight. I am literally less than a week from surgery. If they cancel me I will be devastated.

Try Milk or Magnesium.
I noticed on liquid by bowels were not but I didn’t feel constipated etc.
however, after taking milk of magnesium my bowels moved and I dropped like 8 lbs, then after that it has been about a lb to 2 lbs a day. But only took that one dose if magnesium last week.

Good luck in your surgery.
I just got post pone to January, just got sick.

I’m scheduled for a gastric sleeve this Friday. I just began the Clear Liquids for the next 3 days… I’ve been on full liquids since last Friday. It’s been going good. I’ve had 2 headaches (probably carb/sugar withdrawal) & my energy is lower than normal. I’m sooo excited though 😉

4 more days and I am starting to freak out! Just the normal stuff: why am I doing this? Maybe I should try one more time on my own…. I have never been so apprehensive about a surgery before. But I am prepared and I know it will be fine. The discomfort is short lived. This liquid diet is not helping my mood either 😂

I went to my final pre-op appointment yesterday. Was nervous about being delayed bc the weight was up a few pounds but I was approved at all stops (surgeon, labs, anesthesiologist) to move forward! I’ll be the first case of the day on my surgery date too which is nice, the only procedure that’ll be done on time that day as they said lol. Been on my liquid diet for a few days and I’ve been doing all right with it, hope to get in every last bit of weight loss I can.

Yes! This liquid diet is doing my head in! I’ve been having the same thoughts. Should I actually? Can I actually? We got this! We are so close! I am hoping the liquid diet before hand will be harder than after since it sounds like we won’t feel too hungry after. Fingers crossed at least. 🤞🏽

Thank you! I talked to my surgeon and he said as long as I didn't gain any weight from my original consult I didn't need any pre op diet. Just not to eat the night before.

I'm getting scared the closer to the date. I just had a covid test I guess several are needed prior to the surgery date.

I have my preop doctor's appointment on 10.6 then surgery 10.11.

How are you feeling?

Scared but excited.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
