Soaking in a tub after sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

So for those that love to soak in a bathtub. How soon after surgery did you get in the tub for a long soak? It's been 10days and im really wanting to take a bath instead of showing.

I didn’t ask about the tub but was told to wait a month to get I to the pool. I’m guessing it’s similar.

Oh wow. My book says 2 week for tub and pool. I was just hoping to cheat on a few day lol. I'm not sure I could go a month. 😳

Makes you wonder when the rules are THAT different what goes into deciding.

Yes. That's why I ask what others did. My incisions are glued and the glue is slowly coming off. My surgeon said they are healing perfectly. I'm seriously thinking about giving it a try lol

I was told I think 4 weeks for bathing or pools. They want to make sure your incisions are fully healed. Why don't you call your surgery center to confirm?

I was just curious at what others did. Everyone has different rules. So I was wondering if anyone was told it was ok to bathe early then 2 weeks. But it's looking like my surgeon rule isn't as long as y'all's.

my surgeons paperwork said specifically no submerging for 2 weeks minimum and at my two week follow up she checks my incisions and said i was clear to submerge in Water. tho every surgeon is different.

My surgeon said no pool for 2 weeks, no hot tub or bath for 4 weeks. If your surgeon said to wait 2 weeks, I would wait the 2 weeks. You only have 4 days to go, but there's a reason they say to wait. I wouldn't chance it.

Will getting in & out if the bath be an issue? Remember any lifting restrictions you have. Mine was not to lift/carry anything heavier than 5kgs the first 2 weeks, then 10kg. I don’t know how you get out of the bath but I always pushed & heaved myself up & I weigh way more than 5kgs. 😂😂. Also soaking in warm Water my cause the glue to break down more quickly.

But I’d check with your team first too.

Same, it's to prevent bacteria entering the wound site

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
