August surgery buddies!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am scheduled for my gastric sleeve for August 17th. I am 5'3" and 230 lbs so the doctor said I need to lose 100 lbs. Honestly I am super nervous and keep having thoughts of excitement but then I think well maybe I will just cancel it. Is it normal to feel this way? I would love to meet other people that are scheduled on the same month or around so we can somewhat do this process together.

Yes, just a day apart. I'm nervous about the two week liquid diet 😬

I'm actually seriously considering doing a couple of test runs with the liquid diet to see what works and what doesn't. That way I can face it head-on and not get so anxious before August. Maybe start with three days and then take a break, then maybe add another day each time I attempt to do it. Not sure if this will work.... but it's worth a try! :P

That's not a bad idea! I think I will just wait until I have to do it lol. Let me know how that works out for you.

With my nutritionist's approval - I've started my Breakfast and lunch with Keto Chow Protein Powder. So I'm slowly getting used to more liquid and less food. It's beginning to affect the food portions when I eat dinner, so I think that is a great plus!. I'm adding Orgain college peptides wot my Water to make sure I'm getting enough Protein prior to surgery as well. I'm down 14 pounds towards my 20lb goal before the surgery. So far so good :)

Hi! I'm also scheduled for gastric sleeve in August on the 8th. I'm nervous also but really excited for the weight-loss. I would like lose over 100 pounds. I'm 6'2" and my CW is 277. I'm sad I'm missing out on all of these cute dresses this season, but I just keep reminding myself that I can go crazy shopping for a new wardrobe next summer.

Me too! I honestly beleive sometimes I was born in the wrong decade for fashion. I love the pencil skirts and hourglass framed dresses from the 40s, not how women were treated, but the style are amazing! There are shops in my little town that I would love to go in and buy stuff, but I have always been too big. I'm so excited about clothes shopping and watching my progress. I love cute summer dresses and I want so very much to not be ashamed of my bat wings and huge arms. Truly a non-scale victory for me when I get to wear the cute clothes again! :D

Welcome to August Buddies! Yes, I also have the nervouscited emotions going too. The only way I can keep it from getting to me is preparing everything! Foods, eating utensils, all my supplements. I'm beginning to feel more in charge and that I'm ready. Daily meditation and tapping has helped me a lot too 😊

Same here! I love vintage dresses and skirts also!! I have a ton of my grandmother's old patterns and some throw back ones that McCalls makes, but I've always been too big for the available sizes. There are so many things to look forward to. I don't even think I could list them all.

That's soooo exciting to have access to those old patterns! Maybe I should start trying to collect some and treat myself to a custom made dress once I reach goals! What a fantastic idea!! :D

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
