Awww thank you so very much for these well wishes! I really appreciate that! 💕

You are so welcome!
The first time I had surgery (a c-section 42 yrs ago) I was ASTONISHED at how I felt afterwards…and I was young, active and barely weighed 120 lbs, and I felt like I had been hit repeatedly by a bus or train.
All these years later, total of 4 c-sections, and I’m cautiously optimistic that at the very least, I ‘sort of’ know what is ahead of me post-surgery.
That being said, who knows? My surgeon says that if I can handle 4 sections, I can do this blindfolded.
As long as you aren’t blindfolded, 🤣, I responded to him.
Walk until you need to rest, then rest, then walk again. ❤️ I’ll be looking for your updates. 😊

***TMI warning ***

That was so smart!!! I had my VSG on 5/10 and haven't pooped since probably 5/8 and today is 5/14...

Im starting to wonder how much of my post surgery bloat is from that!

I didn’t go #2 for 10 days after my surgery. I actually gained 4 lbs the week after surgery between it fluids and constipation…then dropped it all plus 10lbs the next week. It will come off!!

May 5th sleeve. I have never had an issue with nausea (even when pregnant). I am still trying to get the hang of all this liquid step up progress. Struggling to drink/sip/ eat enough to not feel like I am hungry every 3 hours. Am I being greedy or not doing enough liquids?

I put my unflavored Protein Powder in every cold drink in my fridge ( I learned the hard way it clumps up in heat).

Open to suggestions on what to do. Taking a single bite out of a grilled chicken breast is looking really good right now 🤦🏾‍♀️

The best thing for that is a warm heating pad and walking, so you can release the gas. It really helps!

Thank you for this. Can I just check - when you say warm heating pad do you mean a hot water bottle ? Or something you sit on that is warm ? I am trying to translate a lot of American terms into English that are not so clear to me but are common between other posters.

I kept thinking this surgery would be as debilitating as my 2 x c sections and having had a sleeve 3 days ago my experience has been a lot easier than the c- sections in terms of coping at home. I found it very difficult the night of and the night after the op and was in terrible discomfort. Third night in a massive relief and hoping the recovery stays like this. I found coming home a lot better than anticipated in terms of controlling my own meds. I was petrified beforehand and insisted on 2 nights in the hospital ( here in the Uk for sleeve surgery 1 night is standard) . Only 3 x nights post surgery but already a lot better and far less discomfort.

Hi, thanks so much asking! ☺️ I’m doing really well right now. I’m just weak if I do too much - I have to rest in between. Not much energy back yet.

i had a revision from a sleeve to a SADI because I ended up gaining a 100lbs back of the 150lbs that I lost with my VSG. The 100 lb gain was due to depression meds and me getting on a food pity party for 3 years and not coming off of it! Lol

oh, I so hope that you feel better soon! Did you get a VSG? I found the hardest thing there was adjusting to the amounts of Fluid that I could take in. Also, the after effects of the surgery was hard to come back from. Hopefully, you’ll have a turn around soon and start feeling like yourself again! Big hugs!

best wishes!

Hi thank you for your reply. I did get a VSG and actually didn’t know you could eventually gain all or some of the weight back but I totally understand how this could happen when coping strategies in life are to eat - mine exactly. So much so that when I was in so much discomfort just now on first night of op I was very dazed still and wondering if I could eat to get through the physical pain I was experiencing. This is what I did for 40 years prior to this surgery - eat to numb any physiological or psychological pain. Good for you for seizing the reigns and not letting the 100lb gain grow any further. Hope your recovery is really good. What procedure did you have as I don’t understand all the acronyms on here sorry x.

Surgery Day is finally here! I hope recovery speeds by as quickly as this past two weeks has. Though yesterday Clear Liquids Day just crawled.

Oh my gosh, that’s so funny what you answered your surgeon! 🤣🤣 I’m so glad that you through all your surgeries! 💕

great advice on the walking and resting! I need to get more walking in, that’s for sure! I’m a pro at the resting part. 🤣

I’ll be sure to post updates!!

Oh I so understand about the eating coping strategy as that’s my default too! Thank goodness I found that my hunger went down after both surgeries, but I know that I can’t count on that forever. I need to learn a better way at coping.

i had the SADI (Single anastomosis duodeno–ileal bypass) surgery. Sorry for the change in font size, but I had to copy and paste it here because I can’t remember the full name. Lol from what I’ve been reading, the surgery is most like the duodenal switch except not as severe with the malabsorption. I’ll see - I just hope it can help me get rid of my excess weight. ☺️

I had my RNY and hernia repair on May 11th. Reflux stopped immediately and I spent one night at the hospital. I started my Protein Shake as soon as I got home and on May 14th, I woke up with excruciating stomach cramp and diarrhea and thought that I was dying. The doctor on call called me back and told me to lay off the Protein Shakes and take Imodium. He said it was lactose intolerance and I should only sip Water for 24 hours. I had to throw away 6 boxes of Premier Protein shake and have now switched to fairlife which is lactose and gluten free. I seem to be tolerating this well. At my clinic, it is full liquid for 7 days as soon as you leave the hospital, 1 week of purée, then weeks 3-5 of soft food and you can begin to introduce solid food one at a time after week 5. Pre-surgery was just liquid only 1 day before surgery.
I believe that lactose intolerance is usually with bypass patients. I did not have any problems with the sleeve in 2018, but was one of the few who never lose weight after the sleeve; just 45Ibs and very bad reflux.

My bypass went well and I get to go home today. The staff was very nice though hospitals are so noisy. My roommate here has been repeatedly told not to lie flat but she isn’t listening and keeps wrenching.
I was so groggy and out of it yesterday. I didn’t start to feel alert until 10pm.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
