Scar camouflage tattoos

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had flesh colored tattoos done post PS to cover your scars? I’m considering it and would love to see your results.

I’ve never heard of that!
I’d think that would be pretty painful over a scar.

It probably would be! My arm lift scars just aren’t fading and I’d consider this to cover them up.

How far out are you from the arm lift? Maybe the scars will continue to diminish? I know there are some products on the market like Mederma that are supposed to reduce the appearance of scars, but I am doubtful of their usefulness.

I know nothing about tattoos, but maybe if you talk to a tattoo artist they could show you some examples of their work in that area?

Good luck!

I hear ya.

All my scars pretty much suck, but the arm ones and my side boob ones from the breast lift can’t always be covered by clothes.

I looked into tattoo scar camouflage a while back but my scars are much darker than my skin AND are not smooth, and I was told this type of procedure is more effective on white, flat scars 😭😭😭

So i’m just getting a for real tattoo strategically placed on the worst side boob scar.

Am gonna wait out the arm scars for now and just hope they get better.

But do keep us updated, would love to see some good after pics…even if its on someone else’s arm!

I actually just recently found an artist near me that specializes in scar matching/correction. (He also does stretch marks 😀) I am considering them, but not sure if it's worth it as mine are barely visible tbh. And except for the small part that show in a bikini (which I wear a few times a year), the rest of them are only visible when I'm naked. Not sure if it's worth spending a couple thousand on correction. Might have to reevaluate when I get my arms done and see how those scars settle.

Kristie - you're still not very far out from ps. My scars at 10 months were still pretty red/purple. But they continued to improve, and are still improving at nearly two years. Mine are mostly a thin white line. But the areas where my drains were are still a little pink/purple. So patience might be the most effective option right now :)

ms.sss - The artist I found does work on dark and raised scars as well. First step is micro needling, to flatten them. Second step is tattooing with ink that matches your skin tone. He says it takes more sessions, and isn't quite as effective on hyperpigmentation vs. hypopigmentation but his pics still show a dramatic improvement

You’re right, I’m being impatient. My breast scars are nearly invisible, and my Tummy Tuck scar is fading fast. It’s just the arm scars that are dark pink. And of course, these are the ones most likely to be seen. I’ll be patient and wait awhile longer before doing anything!

How far out are you? I am 1year, 9 months post arms and just in the last 2-3 months have they started to lighten from red to pink and even white in some areas. I did do pulsed laser treatments 3 times over the spring and summer and saw a little improvement. However, most of the improvement came doing nothing the past few months.

Im almost 2 yrs out from plastics (1 yr, 11 mnths to be exact).

I had 2 rounds of steroid shots at around the 1 yr mark on my arms and tummy…flattened then out considerably and lightened them somewhat (I didn’t do my underboob, which i wish i did….). I do notice my scars are still lightening up SLOWLY as time passes so its al good. I knew i was a bad scar-healer going in so it was expected.

Still glad i did it though!

I had a test spot done on a burn scar years ago and it was called permanent makeup but the spot does not match my skin coloring at all. I decided not to do it because of that but I was younger and did not do any research to see if they were experienced or anything. Apparently doing a test spot is something they do though.

No matter what you do, Always make sure to wait about 2 years to tattoo a scar! or you could make it worse. I worked in the industry for 20 years and have seen numerous Tummy Tuck scars covered, you will end up with poor results if you do it too soon.

I am about 4 months post op and my scars are pretty dark because I tend to hyperpigment. I have 5 of them!!!! Dont know why the surgeon cant do the single incision gastric sleeve through the belly button. That would've been my preference but the only two surgeons in the US that do that were not near me.

Anyway, I went to my dermatologist and he mixed up a prescription strength formula to fade these things and happy to say it is working. But honestly, I think it is something the bariatric surgeons should address.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
