What did you try for constipation? The hospital gave me lactulose which doesn’t seem to be doing much, it’s day 5 for me today. The pain for me seems to be in two places - in the middle of my chest and after I’ve had a drink and it lands in my stomach. Hoping it starts to get easier as this is pretty rough.

Hi there,

Has my surgery on the 7th of September. My doctor had me start out with drinking 1/2 a bottle of magnesium citrate and that did the job! Since then he also told me to use Miralax as needed. Hope you feel better soon! ☺️

The hospital prescribed senna and a stool softener. When I hadn't had a BM after a week, they suggested a laxative suppository and Miralax. I did both and had a BM a half hour after the suppository. I am now doing miralax every day plus the senna and stool softener. I just started magnesium citrate and will stop the senna and stool softener as they were only prescribed for two weeks. The hospital suggested I needed to increase my fluids and I've now been able to get above 64 oz of fluids the last few days and it's been better. I'm trying to get more activity too, but my incision hurts when I walk.

Good luck!

My surgeon put me on a 10 day pre-op. I lost 10 lbs. plus 24 lbs since surgery, 34 total so far. Props to all of you. I don't know how you all could handle a long pre-op. I thought I was going to die in those 10 days.

My pre-op diet was only 14 days. However, when I decided I wanted to pursue bariatric surgery, I decided to practice a semi-bariatric diet of lower carb, higher Protein, and I ended up losing almost 50 lbs before the pre-op diet started. I only lost a few pounds on the pre-op diet.

I bet you didn’t lose as much as many of us on pre op because you had already lost the Water weight from dieting.

I had surgery on September 27th and I am one of the very blessed ones that have had no pain to speak of besides a couple days of gas pain. I have lost 9 lb since surgery, and I am feeling a little like I should have lost more by now. Is that realistic? Or am I being too fussy?

Hello everyone.. I had my surgery on Sept 30th 2021.. and it has been an horrible experience to me. I can't hold down fluids or soft food. so much mucus is coming up!! and I'm spitting all day. I'm so sad over this journey. is anyone having this same issue? if so, what are you doing about it.

Are you on meds for reflux? If not you should be at this point. If you are already on reflux meds get in touch with your surgeon asap as this is not normal. If fact i would be getting in touch with the surgeon either way. I hope your issue is resolved and you feel better soon

Tomorrow is the big day! Getting sleeved in the morning and possibly spending a dark and stormy night in the hospital after. I'm actually excited about that because rain on wedding days and birthdays is considered a sign of good luck- so wouldn't a commitment of re-birth qualify as well?
Can't wait to see y'all on the other side!
